About Hong Kong

Welcome to Hong Kong Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located at 7704 Augusta Rd J in Piedmont, South Carolina (zip code 29673). As a Chinese restaurant serving the Piedmont community, Hong Kong Restaurant offers a menu of Chinese cuisine for local diners. You can contact them at (864) 299-9788 or their mobile number +1 864-299-9788 for inquiries.

Based on recent customer reviews, Hong Kong Restaurant presents a mixed and concerning picture for potential diners. One recurring theme in the feedback is a significant decline in the overall dining experience compared to the past. One long-time customer expressed nostalgia for the restaurant's former buffet, which they described as a pleasant way to sample a variety of dishes, including some that are no longer offered on the menu. This customer mentioned that their work group used to be regular visitors, coming once a week, but now their visits have decreased dramatically to about once every six months, indicating a significant change in their perception of the restaurant.

The absence of the buffet, which was clearly a popular feature for some patrons, appears to be a major drawback for this reviewer and their group. Buffets in Chinese restaurants often provide an opportunity to try a wide selection of dishes, catering to different preferences and allowing diners to enjoy a more varied meal. The fact that some of these previously available dishes are no longer on the regular menu further contributes to this customer's disappointment.

In stark contrast to the nostalgic recollection of the buffet, another customer reported a severely negative experience concerning the food quality and customer service. This reviewer stated that they purchased a plate where the chicken was "raw & bloody," which is a serious food safety hazard. Upon returning to the restaurant to request a refund, they were met with "very rude" behavior from the front desk staff. The staff member allegedly refused a refund and told the customer "not come back again." This account paints a deeply concerning picture of the restaurant's customer service practices, particularly in handling complaints about potentially unsafe food.

The reviewer further characterized the front desk staff as having "no customer service" skills and highlighted the grave issue of "serving undercooked food." This single, but very serious, review raises significant red flags about the restaurant's food safety standards and their approach to resolving customer issues. Serving raw chicken is a serious health risk and should be addressed with utmost urgency by the restaurant's management.

Considering these two reviews, there is a clear divergence in past and present customer experiences. While Hong Kong Restaurant may have once been a favored spot due to its buffet and presumably good food, recent feedback indicates potential issues with food quality (specifically, serving raw chicken) and severely lacking customer service, especially when addressing complaints. The loss of the buffet seems to have also negatively impacted the perception of at least one long-time customer.

As a Chinese restaurant within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, Hong Kong Restaurant would typically be expected to offer a variety of Chinese dishes, prepared with traditional or adapted techniques. The mention of a former buffet suggests that they likely had a wide selection of ready-to-eat items available. Now, without the buffet, their service likely focuses on ordering from a set menu, with dishes prepared to order. The type of environment could have varied depending on whether the buffet was the primary focus or if they also had a significant dine-in service with a specific ambiance. The loss of the buffet might have also altered the restaurant's atmosphere.

The services currently offered likely include ordering from a menu for dine-in or takeout. The negative review regarding the refund process suggests a rigid or poor customer service policy. Features that might have once attracted customers, like the buffet, are no longer available. The current features, based on the reviews, are harder to ascertain positively, with the negative aspects of food safety and rude service being prominent concerns.

Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided reviews. There is no mention of any current specials, discounts, or changes to their menu or service model beyond the discontinuation of the buffet. Potential customers would need to contact the restaurant directly or check local listings or social media (if available) to find out about any current promotions.

In conclusion, Hong Kong Restaurant in Piedmont, SC, presents a concerning picture based on recent online reviews. While it may have had a positive reputation in the past, particularly for its buffet, current feedback highlights serious issues. The report of serving raw chicken and the subsequent rude and unhelpful response from the front desk are significant red flags regarding food safety and customer service. The discontinuation of the buffet has also disappointed at least one long-time customer. Potential diners should be aware of these recent negative experiences when considering Hong Kong Restaurant. It would be advisable for the restaurant management to address the serious food safety concerns and to improve their customer service practices to regain the trust of the community.

Although the food is still good I truly miss the buffet! It was so nice to come and get a little taste of everything, some things no longer even offered. My work friends and I would come once a week and now it’s more like once every 6 months.

I ordered Bourbon Chicken combination platter twice now and I am extremely happy with the selection thus far. Can not wait to try much more. I am originally from Philadelphia and one thing I noticed after relocating to SC is most Chinese restaurants do not put vegetables in their fried rice which drives me crazy. Overall highly satisfying. WOW!! how I miss so many good foods from Philly!

Fried rice was crunchy and didn’t have no flavor. The crab ragoons didn’t have no stuff inside hardly.
