About Hong Kong Kitchen
Welcome to Hong Kong Kitchen, a new addition to the Chinese Restaurant category, situated at 18438 Colima Rd #31 within the Hong Kong Plaza in Rowland Heights, CA 91748, USA. Having recently opened and garnered attention through social media platforms like Instagram, Hong Kong Kitchen offers local users an opportunity to experience Cantonese-style cuisine. This introduction aims to provide a detailed overview of the environment, services, features, and initial customer experiences based on the limited online feedback available.
The environment of Hong Kong Kitchen benefits from its location within the Hong Kong Plaza, a well-known hub that offers "plenty of parking," a significant convenience for diners. However, the dining room itself is described as "small," which may limit its suitability for large groups. This suggests a more intimate setting that might be better suited for individuals or smaller parties. The decor and ambiance are not detailed in the reviews, but being a new restaurant within a plaza known for its Asian establishments, it likely aims for a comfortable and functional space for enjoying a meal.
In terms of services, Hong Kong Kitchen operates as a dine-in restaurant. While takeout or delivery options are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, it is common for new establishments to focus initially on their dine-in service. The staff's interaction with customers is only implicitly mentioned through the food reviews, with no specific comments on the attentiveness or efficiency of the service beyond the food preparation itself. As the restaurant is new, its service protocols and offerings may evolve over time.
A notable feature of Hong Kong Kitchen is its offering of specific Cantonese dishes, as indicated by the items reviewed. The preserved meats hot pot rice is one such dish, cooked and served in a metal pot, which results in some desirable crispy rice at the bottom. This traditional cooking method is a characteristic of certain Cantonese rice dishes. Another highlight, receiving a positive recommendation, is their chicken wings, described as "delicious." This suggests that they have a well-received preparation of this popular appetizer.
The menu at Hong Kong Kitchen is described as "small" with "not too much variety." This could be a deliberate approach for a new restaurant to focus on mastering a select number of dishes. However, it might be a consideration for diners looking for a wide range of options. The reviewed dishes—preserved meats hot pot rice, chicken wings, and wonton noodle soup—provide a glimpse into their offerings, suggesting a focus on classic Cantonese staples. The hot pot rice indicates the inclusion of rice-based meals, while the chicken wings serve as an appetizer, and the wonton noodle soup represents a traditional noodle dish.
The preserved meats hot pot rice received mixed feedback. While the rice itself was noted as "tasty with the soy sauce" and had the appealing crispy bottom, the portion of preserved meat was described as "on the smaller side." This suggests that while the flavor profile of the dish was satisfactory, the quantity of the main protein component might be a point of concern for some diners.
The wonton noodle soup, unfortunately, received negative feedback, being labeled as "the worst dish" experienced. The noodles were described as "soft," the broth as "very light in flavor," and the wontons as lacking flavor. Based on this review, it is a dish that the customer would advise others to "avoid." This highlights a potential area for improvement for the restaurant.
Another customer ordered a chicken hot pot but reported receiving "mostly bones" with "no good pieces" of chicken. This significant issue with the quality of a main dish raises concerns about consistency and ingredient selection. This negative experience led the customer to state that they "will not come back," underscoring the importance of ensuring the quality and substantiality of all dishes served.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. As a new restaurant, Hong Kong Kitchen may introduce promotions in the future to attract new customers. Local users interested in any potential discounts or special offers may want to follow their social media presence (as one review mentioned seeing them on Instagram) or contact the restaurant directly at (626) 413-0700 or +1 626-413-0700 to inquire about any current or upcoming promotions.
In conclusion, Hong Kong Kitchen in Rowland Heights offers a new option for Cantonese cuisine within the Hong Kong Plaza, with ample parking. While the chicken wings and the crispy rice in the preserved meats hot pot rice were positively noted, the portion size of the preserved meats was considered small. Significant concerns were raised regarding the wonton noodle soup, which lacked flavor, and a chicken hot pot that was mostly bones. The menu is currently small with limited variety, and the dining room is not suitable for large groups. As a new establishment, Hong Kong Kitchen has areas where it could improve, particularly in the consistency and quality of certain dishes like the wonton noodle soup and hot pots. Local users might find some dishes appealing, but it would be prudent to consider the mixed initial reviews when deciding to dine here.

Customer Reviews
Came to try this new restaurant after seeing it posted on Instagram. It's located in Hong Kong Plaza with plenty of parking. We ordered the preserved meats hot pot rice, chicken wings, and Wonton Noodle soup to try things out. The rice was cooked in a metal pot and had some crispy rice at the end. The preserved meat portion was on the smaller side but the rice was tasty with the soy sauce. Chicken wings was delicious and would recommend. The worst dish we had was the wonton Noodle soup. The noodles were soft, broth was very light in flavor, and wontons lacked flavor. Avoid the wonton Noodle soup. The menu is small and not too much variety. Small dining room so not good for large groups.
Order a chicken hot pot but the chicken I get was mostly bones no good peices I will not come back
I ate at N restaurants nearby, and this one was the worst. The three of us ordered the cheapest chicken rice. After waiting for nearly an hour, the chicken and vegetables that came out were all bones and the portion was small.
The stuff is very bland! It’s just average, and I don’t have any desire to eat it a second time!
Very authentic Cantonese food! ! ! ! ! ! ! All made by myself! recommend! ! ! !
