About Hong Kong Inn

Welcome to Hong Kong Inn, a Chinese restaurant located at 1421 W Kearney St, Springfield, MO 65803, USA. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Hong Kong Inn has been serving the Springfield community for several years. They offer a variety of Chinese dishes and provide the convenience of a drive-thru service for customers on the go. You can contact Hong Kong Inn at (417) 862-9888 or their mobile number +1 417-862-9888 to place an order or inquire about their menu.

Based on recent customer feedback found online, experiences at Hong Kong Inn appear to be mixed. One long-term customer reported a concerning issue involving potential overcharging on multiple occasions when using their card for payment. This customer detailed an instance where a drive-thru order totaling $106.26 resulted in a $127 charge on their bank account. Further investigation by their accountant allegedly revealed similar discrepancies between receipts and bank charges on previous visits. The customer stated that they had contacted the police and intended to address the situation directly with the owner before pursuing legal action, expressing a desire to understand if the issue was due to an employee's actions rather than intentional practice by the business owner.

In a subsequent update, the same customer indicated that the situation had been resolved and referred to the people at Hong Kong Inn as "honest." This suggests that the restaurant addressed the customer's concerns, although the specifics of the resolution were not provided.

In contrast to this experience, another recent review expressed dissatisfaction with the food quality. This customer described the sauce as lacking salt and being sweet without any sourness. They also criticized the chicken, stating that it was breaded and served with what they considered "garbage sauce," even going so far as to say that "even the General would not claim this chicken," implying a significant deviation from the expected quality of General Tso's chicken. Being new to the area, this reviewer indicated their intention to try other Asian food establishments in the future.

Considering these recent reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive picture of the current environment, services, and features of Hong Kong Inn. The feedback highlights potential inconsistencies in both billing practices and food quality. While one long-time customer initially reported serious concerns about overcharging, their subsequent update suggests that the restaurant took steps to rectify the situation, indicating a potential commitment to resolving customer issues.

However, the negative feedback regarding the food, specifically the lack of salt and sourness in the sauce and the quality of the chicken, raises concerns about the consistency and quality of their dishes. The mention of breaded chicken with an unsatisfactory sauce suggests a preparation style that may not appeal to all palates, particularly those familiar with standard renditions of popular Chinese dishes like General Tso's chicken.

Based on the available information, the features of Hong Kong Inn include:

  • Drive-Thru Service: Offering convenience for customers who prefer to order and pick up their food without leaving their vehicles.
  • Local Establishment: Serving the Springfield community for several years, suggesting a degree of familiarity and history within the area.

However, the recent customer experiences indicate potential areas of concern that local users may want to consider:

  • Possible Billing Discrepancies: One customer reported multiple instances of being charged more than the receipt total, although this issue was reportedly resolved. It would be prudent for customers to carefully review their charges.
  • Inconsistent Food Quality: Recent feedback suggests potential issues with the flavor profile of sauces and the preparation style of chicken dishes.

Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided text. Local users interested in dining at or ordering from Hong Kong Inn may want to inquire directly about their current menu, preparation methods, and any ongoing specials by calling them at (417) 862-9888 or visiting their location at 1421 W Kearney St, Springfield, MO 65803, USA.

Given the conflicting recent reviews, it is recommended that potential customers approach Hong Kong Inn with awareness of the reported issues. While one customer experienced and seemingly resolved a billing concern, another expressed significant dissatisfaction with the food quality. As with any dining experience, individual preferences and expectations can vary. Local users may find it beneficial to try Hong Kong Inn for themselves to form their own opinion, perhaps starting with a small order to assess the current food quality and ensuring they carefully check their receipts and bank statements.

In conclusion, Hong Kong Inn is a Chinese restaurant in Springfield, MO, offering drive-thru service. While it has served the community for years, recent customer feedback indicates potential concerns regarding billing accuracy and food quality. The resolution of a reported billing issue suggests a willingness to address customer problems, but the negative comments about the food should also be taken into consideration by local users when deciding whether to patronize this establishment. Further investigation or a personal experience may be necessary to form a fully informed opinion.

Been going to Hong Kong Inn for years. But that is coming to an end after noticing im being stole from. Not every time but i ordered food in the drive thru yesterday. My total came to 106.26 reciept attached. Well after checking my bank account i notice i was charged 127 dollars. I then had are accountant go back and check are Hong Kong inn charges to the receipts. Not on all but on multiple occasions my card has been charged more than what the receipts say. This is stealing clearly. I did contact the police and showed them the proof and they followed me to Hong Kong inn only to find out they are closed on Tuesdays. I have told the officers I would like to see what is going on before taking any kind of legal action. As a business owner myself I don't want to just suprise the owner with legal responsibility if it's something that maybe an employee is doing. The proof is attached. God Bless Update: They did take care of the situation! Honest people!!!

Sauce had no salt. Sweet n sour but not sour. Chicken is breaded any chicken with garbage sauce. Even the General would not claim this chicken. I’m new to the area and I’m going to try the next Asian food.

Very disappointed my first time here and the rice was recooked and also the chicken. The crabragoon was just cream cheese nothing else. It tasted awful. There was no seasoning what so ever in the sweet and sour chicken. I do not recommend!!!

I took my wife here for Mother’s Day. So conveniently located. It’s just right down the street from the Walmart and next door to one of my favorite thrift stores. Of course, we had the Cashew Chicken! It’s the best. We also had a side of pot stickers. Portions are huge. I shared a plate with my wife as we’re saving up for her next tattoo. There’s a Tinker Bell tattoo design she’s had her eye on for quite some time. Next time you’re hungry for Chinese food be sure to try Springfield’s Hong Kong Inn.

(READ BEFORE EATING AT THIS PLACE!) I was very polite about the whole situation. I wanted to start no issues or create any type of scene. I asked the front counter lady to come by, and I explained to her how my veggie lomain noodles were EXTREMELY salty. I could not eat it and I asked if possibly I could get a refund. She said absolutely let me ask and see what they can do. Then this bald dude with glasses and an apron walked over and passively aggressively said “ I can’t give you a refund “. At this point I was the center of attention because he was loud and aggressive with it. I explained how it was really salty and I couldn’t eat it, so I was wondering if I could just get my money back. He started going on about “ we make it in a 5 gal bucket, all of our sauce is the same, there isn’t a physical problem with it, I can’t give you a refund”. At this point I was already embarrassed because how loud and unprofessional he was being. I looked at him sternly and said “ I want no issues, I’m not trying to create a scene, I just can’t eat this food because it’s so incredibly salty. He walked away in the back and started gossiping about it in the back with the other employees. I don’t understand how an establishment like this can be so unprofessional. I ordered a veggie lomain and 5 count crab ration. COST ME 20$. I won’t be coming here again. And honestly the owners/ cooks/ whatever tf he was needs to take a course on customer service and how to calmly approach a situation. I do not recommend this place. Definitely not a professional atmosphere.
