About Hong Kong Express

Located at 1400 W 190th St in Torrance, Hong Kong Express is a Chinese restaurant that piqued the interest of at least one passerby on their way to Walmart. As a Chinese restaurant, it offers a variety of dishes for those seeking this type of cuisine.

Customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on pricing, with some finding it a little high. One reviewer, visiting during their lunch break, was surprised by the $15 cost of a combo meal that included a children's-sized drink, teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, chow mein, and fried rice. While they found the food quality to be surprisingly good, the price makes a return visit unlikely for them, though they still recommended trying it once.

Despite the price concerns, another customer highlighted a specific dish: the egg fu yun. They mentioned not having seen it in years and were delighted that it was freshly made, filling the entire box, and served with a sauce they truly enjoyed. This positive experience with the egg fu yun has motivated them to return for another serving.

In terms of service and atmosphere, one reviewer found the service to be adequate, describing their server as "matter of fact." However, they noted that the appealing smell and warmth of the food overshadowed the server's demeanor, resulting in a positive overall experience. This customer expressed their intention to return and even stated a preference for Hong Kong Express over Panda Express, wishing it were located in West LA.

Overall, Hong Kong Express seems to offer good quality Chinese food, with the egg fu yun being a standout dish for at least one customer. However, potential visitors should be aware that some reviewers have found the prices to be on the higher side. If you are in the Torrance area and looking for a Chinese restaurant, particularly if you enjoy egg fu yun, Hong Kong Express might be worth a try. You can contact them at (310) 618-8181 or +1 310-618-8181 for inquiries.

During my lunch break, I discovered this establishment and was surprised by the high price of the combo meal; $15 with a children's-sized cup, teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, chow mein, and fried rice. While the food quality was surprisingly good, the cost makes a return visit unlikely. However, I recommend trying it once.

I was on my way to Walmart on Normadie/Harborgate Way & 190th. I hadnt eaten lunch and saw Subway, but the Hong Kong Express peaked my interest. Yes, I will say the prices seemed a little high, but then again I didnt want that much food either. Suddenly, there was this egg fu yun. I hadnt seen those in years and it was one of my favorite things. It filled the entire box and was freshly made. A sauce was served with it, and I truly enjoyed it. Ill go back for another! With regard to service and atmosphere. The service was good, but there server was matter of fact. The smell and warmth of the food over powered the server and I was happy. I will go back. Wish they were in West LA because they are better than Panda Express.

I would give it 3.5 stars because I think the place is acceptable but I rounded it up to four. I've gone a couple times when I crave Chinese takeout and want to support mom and pops instead of Panda Express. I think the food they give you is a lot for the price and the spicy salt fish is pretty good and unique item not typically at takeout places. The orange chicken is alright, not really as crispy but it doesn't seem like this place has a high turnaround. It's a clean restaurant, service I can't say much on since they didn't really say much, it was just point and scoop when I've gone.

Best food ever!! I love the fish the most and I honestly don't even eat fish! The Wanton Soup is AMAZING! But, sometimes, certain servers are not very nice, they try to be "nasty to you" by giving you smaller portions of food than they should. But, then "claiming the owner" told them to do that. Once, the owner was there serving and she gave MORE THAN THEY CLAIMED she told them to! EQUALS THEY'RE LIARS!! The owner PACKS your food in every container or plate and for almost fifteen dollars, I would say she should! Panda Express, sells their plates for like $11 dollars and some odd change....and they tend to give you MORE food than some of the servers at Hong Kong Express!! It's, nice to sit inside to eat....I just don't like how "nasty" the morning servers are sometimes...especially, to African people... it's NOT the owner who behaves that way...just SOME of the servers. #TheyNeedToStopIt

I had a good experience at Hong Kong Express Chinese fast restaurant in Gardena. They offered the best chicken teriyaki and the orange chicken. It came with the fried rice and tasty chowmein. It was a big portion. I really enjoyed their food. Also, they had the outside dining, so you could eat outside too. Their service was fast, and they were friendly, too. It was a good experience which I had at the Hong Kong Express Chinese fast food restaurant.
