About Hong Kong Express
Welcome to Hong Kong Express, a Chinese restaurant conveniently located at 2247 S Grand Blvd in St. Louis, Missouri (zip code 63104). As a neighborhood establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Hong Kong Express aims to serve the local community with a variety of Chinese dishes. They can be contacted at (314) 771-9498 or via mobile at +1 314-771-9498 for orders and inquiries.
Based on the limited recent customer reviews available, experiences at Hong Kong Express appear to be somewhat mixed, with positive feedback on the affordability and quality of some entrees contrasted by issues with order accuracy. One customer reported a significant problem with their order, stating they ordered "hot braised chicken" but received an order of "dry chicken with no sauce." This discrepancy was severe enough that they could not eat the food, indicating a potential issue with attention to detail when preparing orders. This negative feedback highlights a risk of receiving an incorrect order, which could be a point of concern for potential customers.
On a more positive note, another reviewer who recently moved to the area expressed delight in finding Hong Kong Express as their "corner Chinese place." They were "super pleasantly surprised" by the quality of the food, specifically mentioning the "beef and broccoli" as being "perfectly cooked." This suggests that when orders are prepared correctly, the entrees at Hong Kong Express can be quite enjoyable and well-executed. This positive feedback could be encouraging for those looking for a reliable local Chinese restaurant.
The same positive reviewer also provided insights into the pricing and quality of different menu items. They noted that the "sides are a little pricey (and not amazing)" but found that "the entrees are super affordable (and amazing!)." This suggests a potential strategy of offering more competitively priced and higher-quality main dishes, while the side items might be less of a focus in terms of value and quality. This information could be useful for customers when deciding what to order, perhaps focusing on the entrees for the best value and taste.
Regarding the environment of Hong Kong Express, the provided reviews offer very limited information. One reviewer simply mentions it as their "corner Chinese place," which implies a local, neighborhood-style establishment. There are no comments on the restaurant's decor, cleanliness, or ambiance. Therefore, it is difficult to provide a detailed description of the environment based on the available feedback.
Similarly, the reviews do not give much detail about the services offered by Hong Kong Express. We can infer that they likely provide takeout service, as is typical for many Chinese restaurants, and possibly dine-in options given the "corner place" description. The availability of phone numbers suggests that customers can place orders for pickup. However, there is no mention of delivery services or online ordering. The positive reviewer focused on the food quality and pricing, without specifically commenting on the service itself, while the negative reviewer's experience suggests potential issues with order fulfillment.
In terms of features, the affordability of the entrees seems to be a key aspect of Hong Kong Express, as highlighted by one reviewer. The perfectly cooked beef and broccoli also suggest that they have the ability to prepare classic Chinese dishes well. However, the issue with the incorrect hot braised chicken order indicates a potential lack of consistency or attention to detail in order preparation, which could be a drawback. Without more extensive feedback, it is challenging to identify other consistent features or specialties of Hong Kong Express.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. To learn about any current specials, discounts, or menu updates at Hong Kong Express, it would be best to contact them directly at (314) 771-9498 or +1 314-771-9498. Local residents might also check online review platforms or social media (if available) for any recent promotions or announcements.
In conclusion, Hong Kong Express on S Grand Blvd in St. Louis appears to be an affordable neighborhood Chinese restaurant that offers well-cooked entrees, such as the beef and broccoli. However, there is a reported issue with order accuracy, as one customer received a completely incorrect dish. While the entrees are considered a good value, the sides may be pricier and less impressive. Potential customers looking for budget-friendly Chinese food in the area might find Hong Kong Express worth trying, particularly focusing on their entrees. However, it may be prudent to double-check orders before leaving to ensure accuracy.

Customer Reviews
I ordered hot braised chicken and I got an order of dry chicken with no sauce. Literally can’t even eat the food I bought because that isn’t what I ordered at all.
Just moved up the street and am delighted to say we have our corner Chinese place. Super pleasantly surprised by how good it is. I got the beef and broccoli and it was perfectly cooked. The sides are a little pricey (and not amazing) but the entrees are super affordable (and amazing!) so it balances out.
2.10.25: My vegetable fried rice was over cooked and veggie egg rolls were under cooked. I reported this via the app and was immediately contacted by one of the managers, Kevin. He was polite, courteous and and offered to rectify the situation immediately. Today, 2.12.25 I contacted Kevin and arrived to the restaurant for a replacement meal and I am very satisfied. Thank you 😊
Been going to this place for 30 years remains the best in the city. You have to try the shrimp st. Paul you'll be hooked after the first one. The half orders are generous and food always delicious.
Store could use some renovating, which is crazy because they’ve changed the counter since my initial visit in 2024. Yesterday sweet and sour chicken, crazy amount of breading on chicken, bland side of white rice by default. Not really much going on with flavor, and it destroyed my stomach. Multiple trips to bathroom afterwards. You’ve been warned.
