Customer reviews for Hong Kong Express present a stark contrast in experiences. One reviewer had a severely negative encounter, stating that their experience was likely not an isolated incident based on "numerous negative reviews on Google." This reviewer described the food as "unappetizing" and reported that it made them sick. They specifically mentioned that the beef smelled like a "wet dog," which they found "utterly disgusting." Based on this experience, they strongly advised others to avoid the establishment due to a perceived "high likelihood" of getting sick and stated they would never return.
Conversely, another reviewer had a much more positive experience. They found the food to be "pretty good," although they noted that the selection was not extensive. However, they praised the quality of the food that was served as "pretty bomb." This reviewer also highlighted the "spot on quick" service, noting that the servers were efficient and did not "linger around chat with each other." They also commented positively on the food quality, mentioning that the noodles had a better flavor and were not overly greasy. Additionally, they tried the beef broccoli and the Teriyaki chicken, finding both "pretty satisfying" and "not overly heavy." Overall, this reviewer considered Hong Kong Express to be a "pretty decent spot" and mentioned that they accept Visa cards, although they were unsure about other forms of payment.
As a Chinese restaurant, Hong Kong Express likely offers a range of dishes typical of this cuisine. Based on the positive review, these include noodles, beef broccoli, and Teriyaki chicken. The negative review mentions beef specifically, suggesting that beef dishes are part of their menu. Without a complete menu, it is difficult to detail the full extent of their offerings, which could also include various types of fried rice, other chicken, pork, and seafood dishes, as well as soups and appetizers.
Information regarding the environment and ambiance of Hong Kong Express is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. The positive reviewer's description of quick service might suggest a more casual and efficient setting, perhaps geared towards faster turnover. The "mom and pop" feel, often associated with such establishments, is not directly mentioned. To understand the restaurant's atmosphere, it would be beneficial to look for additional online reviews or photos, or to visit the location.
In terms of services, Hong Kong Express appears to offer both dine-in and takeout options, as suggested by the two contrasting reviews. The positive reviewer dined in and experienced the quick service. The negative reviewer's experience also seems to have been on-site. The availability of delivery services is not mentioned in either review, so it would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about this option.
Features of Hong Kong Express that emerge from the positive review include the good taste of the food, the quick and efficient service, and the quality of specific dishes like the noodles, beef broccoli, and Teriyaki chicken, which are described as not being overly greasy or heavy. The acceptance of Visa cards is also a practical feature mentioned. However, the significant negative review raises serious concerns about food quality, hygiene (smelling like "wet dog"), and potential foodborne illness, which would be a major deterrent for potential customers. The stark contrast in these two reviews suggests a potential inconsistency in the restaurant's food preparation or quality control.
No specific promotional information is provided in the given reviews. It is common for restaurants to offer various promotions to attract customers, such as lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts on certain days. To find out if Hong Kong Express is currently running any specials or promotions, local residents should check local advertising, online platforms, or contact the restaurant directly.
In conclusion, Hong Kong Express in Artesia is a Chinese restaurant that has received markedly different reviews from customers. While one patron praised the tasty food, quick service, and quality of certain dishes, another reported a highly negative experience involving unappetizing food that allegedly caused illness and had an offensive smell. This significant discrepancy in feedback suggests that potential customers should exercise caution and consider both perspectives when deciding whether to patronize Hong Kong Express. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on their menu, services, and any current promotions, it is recommended to contact the restaurant directly at (562) 860-8883 or +1 562-860-8883.

Customer Reviews
Based on the numerous negative reviews on Google, it appears that my experience at Hong Kong Express was not an isolated incident. The food was not only unappetizing, but it also made me sick. The beef smelled like a wet dog, which was utterly disgusting. I would strongly advise staying away from this establishment, as there is a high likelihood that you will also get sick. After this unpleasant experience, I can confidently say that I will never be returning to Hong Kong Express.
The food here is pretty good. Selection is not vast, but the food itself that they do serve is pretty bomb. That said, the servers here are spot on quick. They don't seem to linger around chat with each other like other places do. The quality of the food is also pretty good. Your noodles have a better flavor. Not so greasy. I also tried the beef broccoli and the Teriyaki chicken. Both are pretty satisfying and we're not overly heavy. Overall, this is a pretty decent spot. They'll take your Visa card, but I think that's about it.
I came to buy takeout for the first time here, as soon as I walked in I saw they had a combo with 2 sides and a drink which was a great deal for $12 and some change. Immediately asked for that and chose my sides. Rice portion wasn’t bad but as soon as I saw the lady portion out the chow mein to a certain size I knew I was in for a bad experience. I had the spicy pork ribs and when I let the employee know, she went in with the spoon and looked through the FULL tray of pork ribs to find the smallest ones to serve me. I only got 3 tiny ribs in my plate… So I said to myself, maybe it’s just that particular dish since I know ribs can be expensive, so we continued on with my next selection which was kungpao chicken. The lady proceeded to sift through the tray (it was FULL of veggies and chicken) to give me the biggest 2-3 pieces of veggies and ONLY 2 PIECES OF CHICKEN. I was so done after that point that instead of ordering another plate like I was planning on, I ended up leaving immediately after purchasing this plate out of disappointment. When the employee was ringing me up, I saw they had a sign that said all debit/credit transactions would be $1 up charge no matter the price… So with taxes and the up charge I ended up paying almost $15. I got home to eat, when I sat and took the first bite I put down my fork to look closely at my plate and realized that not only did they serve me what seems to be scraps, the whole plate was bland and unsavory. That being said, it’s to no surprise that I won’t be returning there ever again.
The customer service is poor. The portions are small. The prices are high for what they give you. If you don't ask for hot sauce or spicy sauce they won't give you none. The food was terrible too. Won't be coming here again.
Food tastes bad. I had the combination plate. They charged me an extra dollar for using my card without telling me.
