About Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant

Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant, located at 702 E 4th Ave in Red Springs, North Carolina, has been serving the community for many years from the same location. As a local Chinese restaurant, it offers a variety of dishes and services to its patrons. They can be contacted at (910) 843-8281 or via their mobile number +1 910-843-8281 for inquiries or to place orders.

Based on the available online reviews, Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant has a loyal customer base and offers a mix of well-received and less favored dishes. One detailed review provides specific recommendations, suggesting that the sweet and sour chicken and any of the fried rices, particularly the pork fried rice, are good choices. The egg rolls are also highlighted as being "really good." A standout item, according to this reviewer, is the tea, which they describe as "hands down, the most 🙌 👏 👌 excellent tea" they have ever had, emphasizing its unique subtle lemon hint and their frequent purchases of it. This strong endorsement from a local "tea drinking person" suggests that the tea is a significant and unique offering of the restaurant.

However, the same reviewer advises caution regarding the dine-in experience, especially during winter, noting that the building or dining area is not adequately heated and can be very cold. This is a crucial piece of information for local users considering eating at the restaurant during colder months. Additionally, they do not recommend the vegetable lo mein, citing an excessive amount of noodles with a lack of vegetables, even when paying extra for them. After repeated issues, this customer stopped ordering this particular dish. On a more positive note for meat lovers, the beef lo mein is suggested as an excellent option due to the plentiful amount of meat. The portion sizes of the plates are noted to be generous, often large enough to be shared by two people with leftovers, which is a potential value aspect for customers.

The mixed vegetable plate is also not recommended by this reviewer, who describes the vegetables as being in a "slimy sauce," deeming it unappetizing. The staff are described as friendly, within the limitations of a potential language barrier, suggesting that while they are well-intentioned, communication might sometimes be a challenge. One dish that the reviewer expressed interest in trying is the teriyaki chicken.

Another review simply states that Hong Kong has been a long-standing presence in Red Springs, maintaining the same location over the years, and that they offer "good food," with General Tso’s Chicken being a favorite. This reviewer also notes that the service is consistently the same and that the staff are nice people.

Considering these reviews, the environment of Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant seems to be more functional than comfortable for dine-in customers, particularly concerning heating during winter. The setup might be more geared towards takeout, although dine-in service is available. The long-term presence in the community suggests a level of familiarity and perhaps a focus on providing consistent food, despite potential shortcomings in the dining environment.

The services offered by Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant include both dine-in and takeout. The fast preparation and the ability to order and pick up food are implied. The staff are described as friendly, although a language barrier might occasionally affect communication. The generous portion sizes of their dishes are a notable aspect of their service, potentially offering good value for sharing.

The features of Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant include specific dishes that are highly recommended, such as the sweet and sour chicken, fried rices (especially pork), and the egg rolls. The exceptional tea is a unique and highly praised offering. For those who enjoy meat, the beef lo mein is suggested for its generous meat content. However, the vegetable lo mein and the mixed vegetable plate are not recommended due to issues with the lack of vegetables and the sauce, respectively. The consistency of service and the friendliness of the staff are also mentioned as features, alongside the restaurant's long-standing presence in the community.

Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local Chinese restaurants often offer lunch specials, family deals, or discounts on certain days. To inquire about any current promotions, daily specials, or their full menu, local users are encouraged to contact Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant directly at (910) 843-8281 or +1 910-843-8281. They may also have information about any seasonal offers or combo meals that could be of interest.

In conclusion, Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant in Red Springs, NC, is a long-established local eatery with a loyal following. While certain dishes like the sweet and sour chicken, fried rices, egg rolls, and especially their unique tea receive high praise, other items like the vegetable lo mein and mixed vegetable plate are not recommended. The dine-in environment may be uncomfortable during winter due to inadequate heating. The staff are described as friendly, though a language barrier may exist. The generous portion sizes offer good value, especially for sharing. Local users considering Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant should take note of the recommended dishes and the potential drawbacks of dining in during cold weather. For takeout, it appears to be a reliable option with some standout menu items.

It depends on what foods you get to know if they're good or not. I recommend the sweet and sour chicken and any of the fried rices, especially the pork fried rice! The egg rolls are really good! The tea is, hands down, the most 🙌 👏 👌 excellent tea I have ever drank in my entire life! And being from Robeson County, we are tea drinking people! I buy anywhere from 10 to 20 teas per week @ $2 for a large cup and it's worth every penny! I don't know what they do to it but it has a hint of lemon that's subtle and it's breathtaking ✨️ 😍!!! Omgosh I cannot get enough of it! It's not the tea we drink from home or from a place like Fullers but it's superb!! I don't really suggest that anyone sit in to eat especially during the winter or you will freeze because they don't heat the building or dining area. I dont recommend the vegetable lo mein because it's all noodles and no veggies, even after you pay for the extra veggies!! It's ridiculous so after many arguments over veggies I just stopped ordering it there! Now if you want plenty of meat then the beef lo mein would be an excellent suggestion but I don't eat much meat! The plates are plenty big enough to share with someone! That's what me and my husband do always! We share every plate and we still have leftover food! I wouldn't suggest their mixed vegetable plate at all! The veggies are in some kind of slimy sauce! Yucky!! 🤮 The staff are as friendly as they know how to be with the language barrier. One thing I want to try that I haven't yet is their teriyaki chicken!

I feel like this place is hit or miss. I have ate here the past couple of weeks. I have gotten three different combinations plates and have only liked one. The sesame chicken being the only one I’ve liked. I had the boneless spare rib plate and it lacked a lot of flavor and the rice smells like mildew. Then I had the beef and broccoli and the beef was way too soft for my liking soft to the point some was still pink. It also lacked flavor it was more like a gravy on the meat instead of a sauce like there was to much corn starch. The egg rolls are good the food physically looks good I just wish it tasted like it looked. They are fast when it comes to serve so that’s a plus

Love this place, the food is authentic American styled Chinese. They can be rude but you know those rude ones are cooking some damn good food. Also the very tall chef looked crazy walking out of the kitchen. Looks like he could put a hurting on somebody. Food is great tho but not a place to go eat inside. Always get it for takeout. I recommend the orange chicken with pork lo mein.

I started eating Chinese here when I was still in high school somewhere between 2003-2007 and I will not order or eat Chinese food from anywhere else. They're the absolute best Chinese I've eaten in probably a 50 mile radius around my house. So if you're in town and want the best sesame chicken, lo mein, fried rice, fried or honey spicy chicken wings etc this is the best place to eat it from
