About Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐厅
Welcome to Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐厅, a unique addition to the Chinese Restaurant category located at 500 N Atlantic Blvd Ste # 100, Monterey Park, CA 91754, USA. This establishment aims to transport local diners to the bustling atmosphere of a Hong Kong-style cafe, offering a distinctive culinary and cultural experience. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact them at (626) 872-1775 or +1 626-872-1775.
Based on recent customer reviews, Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐厅 offers a mixed bag of experiences in terms of food quality. While some dishes are highly praised, others are considered mediocre or even disappointing. One standout item that receives consistent positive feedback is the little egg waffle, described by one patron as "very good" and even "one of the best I have ever tasted." Similarly, the house milk tea is noted for being a strong and authentic Hong Kong-style beverage.
However, not all dishes have garnered the same enthusiasm. One reviewer found that out of seven dishes ordered, only two were tasty, with the honey pork chop being particularly criticized for lacking honey, being soggy, and overall not flavorful. Even a simple dish like the fried chicken wing was described as lacking flavor. On the positive side, the baje chicken noodle with white sauce was well-received, noted for its creamy and tasty profile.
In contrast to some of the more traditional Hong Kong cafe fare, the ribeye steak seems to be a surprising highlight for some diners. One customer was particularly impressed with its quality and taste, even comparing it favorably to much more expensive steaks. The Hainan chicken rice also received positive remarks for its deliciousness and generous portion size. Even the simple fries were appreciated for being freshly cooked.
The portion sizes at Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐厅 are generally described as normal and average, similar to those found in most other restaurants. The pricing, however, is noted by some to be "a bit on the high side." This suggests that while the portions are standard, the overall cost of a meal might be slightly more than expected.
One of the defining features of Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐厅 is its service speed. Multiple reviewers have commented on the "fast service and fast food preparation." Waitstaff are reportedly equipped with tablets to take orders efficiently, and dishes are often prepared and ready within a remarkable 10-minute timeframe. This emphasis on speed aligns with the typical efficiency often associated with Hong Kong-style cafes.
The atmosphere of the cafe is intentionally designed to evoke the "Hong Kong vibes and feel." The decor includes numerous pictures of places in Hong Kong, along with various signs, depictions of vehicles, and buildings, creating a visually busy environment with neon lights. This thematic approach successfully transports some diners to the feeling of being in Hong Kong, which is undoubtedly a key feature of the restaurant. However, opinions on the atmosphere are divided, with some finding it appealing and immersive, while others might perceive it as a bit cluttered or overwhelming. It is generally agreed that the ambiance is more akin to a casual Hong Kong cafe rather than an upscale dining establishment.
In summary, Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐厅 offers a unique dining experience centered around the theme of a Hong Kong-style cafe. Its strengths appear to lie in its fast service, the authenticity of its milk tea, the surprisingly well-received little egg waffle and ribeye steak, and its distinct Hong Kong-themed atmosphere. However, the quality of the food seems to be inconsistent, with some dishes receiving criticism for their lack of flavor or poor preparation. While the prices might be slightly higher, the overall experience of potentially feeling like you are dining in Hong Kong could be a draw for many local users. Ultimately, as one reviewer aptly put it, "It's worth trying and feel the vibe, some things are worth ordering and some are better elsewhere. You be the judge."

Customer Reviews
Food: Tasty, flavor and presentation are mediocre for some, lacking for others. The little egg waffle is very good Beverage: The house milk tea is good. Close enough to Hong Kong style, strong Portions: Normal average portions same size as most restaurants Price: A bit on the high side Service: Fast service and fast food preparation Atmosphere: High Kong vibes and feel. A bit busy with much decorations and neon lights It's my first time here since they opened. Came with my families and I believe we are all on the same page on the food, flavors and taste. We ordered 7 dishes, out of the 7, only 2 are tasty, the rest are just mediocre and one in particular is just not good, not recommended. The honey pork chop. Not enough honey, soggy, not tasty enough. Fry chicken wing, a simple dish is not flavorful enough. The baje chicken noodle with the white sauce is very good, creamy and tasty. Milk tea is good, choose to the Hong Kong style. Kind of strong though. The little egg waffle is one of the best i have ever taste, my niece also agrees Service are fast, Asian style, meaning not much chatting and only take your orders. They are pretty fast as the waiters/waitress are equipped with tablets to take orders. Dishes are prepared and ready within 10 minutes. That pretty fast. Atmosphere as I mentioned is decorated to looks like or feels like a Hong Kong vibe with many different pictures of places in Hong Kong, signs, vehicles and buildings. You do get the feel of being in Hong Kong, and that's the theme. Some people like this view and feel, but some thinks it a bit busy. It does not feel upscale, but a cafe if Hong Kong is not meant for that purpose. All and all. It's worth trying and feel the vibe, some things are worth ordering and some are better elsewhere. You be the judge
I really liked the ribeye steak!! It was only $19.95, but it looked and tasted very good (honestly, even better than some $100+ steak I had in the past). I would definitely come back for the ribeye steak. The Hainan chicken rice was delicious with big portion as well. I even liked their fries, they were simple fries but they were freshly cooked. The restaurants is decorated with CH/HK signs which I loved. It gave me a feeling of eating in a restaurant in HK. The workers were fast with their services. The foods came out within 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place. Good place. Good price. Good food.
Amazing food, tastes just like home. Great service as well with friendly and helpful staff. The only reservation I have for this place is that there are too many Simplified Chinese Characters displayed in the decorations which slightly takes away the authenticity because it’s supposed to be a Hong Kong styled restaurant.
Ordered a Baked Pork Fried Rice (144), Seafood Chow Mein (135), and HK Style Lemon Black Tea (1). The Baked Pork Rice we chose had a tomato sauce on top of the fried rice. This gave it an almost pasta like consistency, a crossroad between European and Asian tastes. The Baked Pork was tender and well portioned. The Seafood Chow Mein was a sizable plate with fish, shrimp, octopus, and cuttlefish on top of crispy noodles. The noodles were cut in 4 to help with mixing the noodles and separating portions out. The seafood ratio was very good and the vegetables were a nice amount too that also added color to this dish. The HK Style Lemon Black Tea was refreshing to have during the meal and refill was available during sit-down dining. The interior is very well decorated with a lot of HK signage, signature public transportation displays and a general charming ambiance. Service was very fast and courteous without any interruption to our meal. Location is right at the corner of a plaza with plenty of free underground parking.
I recently visited Hong Kong Cafe, which had just opened a few days ago. Unsurprisingly, the place was packed, likely due to the buzz of being new. The atmosphere was just okay—not particularly memorable, and the crowd made it feel a bit hectic. The service, however, stood out. Despite the chaos, the first dish arrived impressively fast—in just 4 minutes! All the food was served within 15 minutes, which is excellent for such a busy spot. Now, onto the food: absolutely delicious! Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared, making it worth the visit. However, one major downside was the presence of bugs flying around. It was quite unpleasant and detracted from the overall experience. Overall, Hong Kong Cafe has great potential, especially with its fantastic food and efficient service. If they can address the cleanliness issues and improve the atmosphere. Overall it was very good.
