About Hong Kong Buffet

Hong Kong Buffet, located at 5887 S Transit Rd in Lockport, NY, is a "Chinese Restaurant" that operates as a buffet. Recent reviews from customers contain significant negative feedback regarding the restaurant's standards.

One alarming review from a visit on October 9, 2024, detailed a disturbing discovery: the customer's wife allegedly found a dead cockroach and a live worm on her plate within the noodles. Upon bringing this to the attention of a manager, the customer was reportedly offered only a 10% discount. The reviewer expressed shock and concern beyond monetary value, stating that the food quality was poor and suggested the health department inspect the kitchen due to concerns about leftover food being reused at the buffet. This reviewer strongly advised others to avoid the restaurant.

Another customer, revisiting the restaurant after approximately ten years, recounted a similarly negative experience. While they noted that their server was prompt in removing dishes, they described the atmosphere as undesirable, citing filthy and ripped carpets. The food quality was also criticized, with the fried rice and lo mein appearing old and dried out. The rangoons were described as being "hard as a rock" and possibly inedible. The egg rolls reportedly had very little filling, and the honey chicken and general tso's chicken were characterized as tiny fried pieces of breading heavily covered in sauce. This reviewer speculated that short staffing might have contributed to a bad night but ultimately left them unimpressed.

Based on these recent customer reviews, there are serious concerns regarding food safety, hygiene, food quality, and the environment at Hong Kong Buffet in Lockport, NY. Potential customers should carefully consider this feedback before choosing to dine at this establishment.

Immediately requested to speak with a manager and a lady came and saw the plate and she was told that she will give me 10% discount. I was shocked 😳 it’s not all about money the food is not good I don’t know why the health department not inspect this restaurant kitchen many left over food was reusing back to the buffet. Please keep away from this restaurant.

2nd time here. Our first visit was approx 10 years ago. I realized now why it took us 10 years to return. Our server was prompt with removing our dishes. The atmosphere was eh as carpets were filthy and ripped. The food was undesirable as the fried rice was appearing old and dried out, same as the lo main. The rangoons??? Unsure if they were meant to be edible as they were hard as a rock. The egg rolls had barely any filling, the honey chicken and general tsos chicken were tiny fried up bits of breading slathered in sauce. Perhaps it was a bad night due to short staffing but left us unimpressed.

Food was okay. It was warm which was good and not dried out. No salad, the fried rice tasted a little burnt but the sweet and sour chicken was good. Service was good till the end when my wife and I got up to go to the bathroom and they panicked that we weren’t going to pay and made my wife stay at the table while I went to the bathroom and then swap off. In our defense didn’t even know there was an exit by the bathrooms. Then when we paid a woman started speaking Chinese to the child that took my payment asking if my Apple Pay went through. Not a good way to end the meal but oh well we get it gotta protect their company. Still offensive. Next time if we order would just get takeout.

food was partially inedible. not fresh. dried out & cold. even the table beside us complained. there was also some sort of frozen meat in a usps package next to the icecream. gross & unsanitary. floors were wet & so were the toilet seats. it's like they started closing early. servers were also very rude. toddler fell twice because of the slippery floors & they laughed. lots of staring & they seemed to get hostile after we did not tip. stood over our shoulders as we were putting on our coats to leave. we asked for hot sauce & the little girl only gave us three packets? 😭 we will not be returning. amherst buffet is best.

I've been going to Hong Kong buffet for years now I've never complained about it never thought the food was disgusting I always thought it was amazing fresh and just good. But tonight when I went I can't say the same. The food was disgusting dry not fully cooked it wasn't fresh (and I'm not hating on the restaurant) but I've never have had bad food from that restaurant and tonight it just flipped the old food was slathered in new sauce just to hide the fact that it's old and the drinks didn't taste the same. I was eating with a spoon and it smelt like sweat and honestly I've always loved this place. But this time it changed I don't know what happened the food was just really disgusting old and not the best there was no rice except for a crusty tiny bit I got some of the chicken and there was a gray pea in the chicken (don't try the imitation crab) after I was done with my second plate which only had like two things on it I was about ready to throw up and then I bit down into a mushroom and it had like this crusty stuff in it the please don't eat the shrimp!!! I had some ice cream and honestly I don't think that the ice cream scooper being in that metal thing full of water just flowing down constantly and the same dirty water reusing it when other people have just used it and that's pretty much it the workers are actually really nice and greet you in a nice gesture but all I have to say is please refill the old crusty food with new food!!!! I hate to say it but I'm probably not going back.
