This place was so cute, really great decor and a lot of seating available. Host was great and offered some good suggestions. Food was absolutely awesome, hands down the best Japanese I’ve had in SA. It was so good and cooked perfectly, and food was brought to us quickly. Drink options were pretty good too, with a lot of sake options. We ordered desserts to go because we didn’t want to miss out as the milk tarts looked delicious. Will definitely be visiting again!

Pretty good fast-ish casual Japanese inspired eats. I lived in Japan for a few years and this concept is a nice nod to some of that country's cuisine. Being pescatarian (seafood for meat protein), my spouse and I were limited in menu choices; a few udons, one katsu (prawn) dish and a few stir fry dishes that we could add shrimp to. We've had the takoyaki, shishito peppers and edamame for appetizers. A vegan ramen broth option (like at JINYA Ramen Bar) would be awesome! Not Hoka Hoka Fuku's fault though. As seafood/vegetarian/vegan only diners, we know we're in the minority. The Live Oak, TX restaurant was clean and the staff provided excellent customer service; a very Japanese thing to do 😉 We've dined here twice within the past few months and plan to return in the future. Please keep up the great work Hoka Hoka Fuku (Live Oak)!

Being limited to chains and fast food establishments in this general part of San Antonio, this new restaurant is a great highlight of traditional Japanese cuisine. It's unassuming and quiet with quick service and an easy to digest menu. Nothing fancy, just good food that really delivers. I can't wait to try it again!

My daughter and I went here for lunch. We split takoyaki and gyoza appetizers. The gyoza was really good, and the takoyaki was above average. She ordered the Tori-Katsu with curry (as pictured), which was a lot of food. I ordered a bowl of Dandan Udon, which was delicious. My daughter loved the curry, so I tried a little, and I agree it was really good. I like mine a little spicier (but I get that not everyone does), but the flavor was on point. All in all, it was way more food than we should have ordered for lunch, and we ended up taking some of it home. Nothing was disappointing; the server was attentive and pleasant, and the price was reasonable across the board. We will definitely be returning.
