About Ho Wah Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to Ho Wah Chinese Restaurant, a long-standing establishment located at 754 Market St in Farmington, Missouri. For many years, Ho Wah held a distinguished reputation as a premier destination for Chinese cuisine within a significant radius of Farmington. Known for its flavorful dishes and consistent quality, it was a beloved spot for local residents seeking authentic Asian flavors.

However, as time passed, some patrons observed a decline in the restaurant's standards, noting issues with overcooked meals and a perceived neglect of the building's upkeep. This led to a decrease in patronage from some long-time customers. Nevertheless, recent feedback suggests a significant and positive transformation at Ho Wah Chinese Restaurant, signaling a potential return to its former glory.

One recent customer's experience highlights this positive shift. Upon revisiting Ho Wah after a period of absence, the reviewer immediately noticed a refreshing change in the restaurant's ambiance. Whether due to a renovation or a change in ownership, the establishment now presents a clean and welcoming environment, suggesting a renewed focus on customer experience and the overall dining atmosphere. This revitalized setting aims to provide a comfortable and enjoyable space for patrons to savor their meals.

More importantly, the quality of the food appears to have experienced a remarkable resurgence. The reviewer specifically ordered the tangy chicken with fried rice and crab Rangoon, classic dishes that seemingly evoked memories of Ho Wah's "golden years." The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, describing the tangy chicken as having the perfect balance of sweetness and spice, and the crab Rangoon as being delightfully crispy and creamy without any greasiness. This return to flavorful and well-prepared food indicates a renewed commitment to culinary excellence at Ho Wah.

This positive experience led the reviewer to enthusiastically declare that Ho Wah is back in their regular dining rotation, giving it a commendable rating of 8.6 out of 10. The sentiment expressed suggests that Ho Wah is once again delivering on its promise of quality Chinese cuisine, whether through a return to original recipes and standards or through a fresh approach under potentially new management. This positive review serves as an encouraging sign for local users who may have previously frequented Ho Wah or those looking to discover a reliable Chinese restaurant in Farmington.

However, it is crucial to present a balanced perspective based on all available information. Another recent customer reported a negative experience with a takeout order. This review stated that the customer did not receive the items they ordered, with the General Tso's chicken allegedly smelling and tasting like ketchup, and chicken fried rice being replaced with an unidentified noodle dish. The reviewer expressed significant disappointment, stating that they used to love the restaurant and would give negative stars if possible, urging caution when ordering takeout. This feedback indicates that while some aspects of Ho Wah may have improved, inconsistencies in order accuracy and food quality might still be a concern for some customers, particularly with takeout orders.

For local users in Farmington, MO, Ho Wah Chinese Restaurant presents a somewhat complex picture. On one hand, there is evidence of a significant positive change in the restaurant's environment and the quality of certain dishes, suggesting a potential revitalization of a once-beloved local establishment. The positive review of the tangy chicken and crab Rangoon highlights the potential for a satisfying and nostalgic dining experience. On the other hand, the negative takeout experience raises concerns about order accuracy and food quality control, particularly for off-premise dining.

Considering these contrasting recent experiences, local users might consider dining in at Ho Wah to experience the reported improvements in the atmosphere and food quality firsthand. Ordering popular dishes like the tangy chicken and crab Rangoon, which received positive feedback, could be a good starting point. For those opting for takeout, it might be prudent to double-check the order before leaving the premises to ensure accuracy and satisfaction.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the recent positive changes suggest that Ho Wah is actively working to regain the trust and patronage of the local community. To learn about any potential special offers, new menu items, or ongoing improvements, local users are encouraged to contact the restaurant directly at (573) 756-9288 or +1 573-756-9288. Visiting the restaurant in person may also provide further insight into the current state of its offerings and services.

In conclusion, Ho Wah Chinese Restaurant in Farmington, MO, appears to be in a state of positive transition, with notable improvements in its environment and the quality of at least some of its dishes. While a recent negative takeout experience indicates that there may still be areas for improvement, the positive feedback from another customer suggests a promising return to form. Local users are encouraged to visit Ho Wah and form their own opinions, perhaps starting with the recommended tangy chicken and crab Rangoon, while exercising caution and verifying orders, especially for takeout.

Howah used to be the crown jewel of Chinese cuisine within a 50-mile radius—about 20 years ago. Back then, it was the go-to spot for flavorful dishes and consistent quality. Sadly, over time, it fell into decline, with overcooked meals and a building that started to feel neglected. Like many, I stopped going. But recently, I decided to give it another shot—and I’m so glad I did. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how refreshed the place looked. Whether it’s a renovation or new ownership, something has clearly changed for the better. It felt clean, welcoming, and like a place that once again cares about its customers. As for the food: it was a return to form. I ordered the tangy chicken with fried rice and crab Rangoon. Every bite took me back to the golden years—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The tangy chicken had just the right balance of sweetness and spice, and the crab Rangoon was crispy and creamy without being greasy. I’m happy to say that Howah is back on my rotation. I give it an 8.6 out of 10. Whether it’s a return to their roots or a fresh start under new management, one thing’s clear: they’re doing things right again. Great job, Howah.

Hands down the WORST Chinese food I've ever eaten. I ordered the honey chicken, pork fried rice, black pepper chicken and crab Rangoon. The Rangoon was the best part of the meal. The honey chicken tasted like it came out of a bag and was soggy. The rice was terrible and tasted NOTHING like pork fried rice should. And the black pepper chicken was mainly huge pieces of bell peppers and onions. They did get the order done pretty quickly, and the lady who took the order was friendly, the order was correct. However The quality of the meal was not good at all. I'll not be returning.

Stopped in while I was in town and I was shocked. The crab Rangoons were nothing like they used to be and neither was the fried rice. If you are a Howahs fan then you obviously go back because it’s been consistent for a lifetime. Empress chicken was good though. But don’t try to fix what wasn’t broken.

As per usual it was a amazing. A little sad my crab rangoons weren't great. They felt old , the cream cheese was dry and kinda flavorless. But I got black pepper chicken and spicy chicken and rice it was excellent! My mom got chicken w/ mixed veggies and her crab Rangoon was the same idk if they premade some for the day or what but either way. The main meal was delicious. Will always come back to Ho wahs
