Customer reviews suggest that Ho Ping House offers a notably positive dining experience. One reviewer, who typically finds it difficult to distinguish between average and high-quality Chinese food and frequents buffets, found Ho Ping House to be "fantastic." They specifically praised the egg drop soup and described the pot stickers as "the best ever had." The chef's special entrée, called the "triple treat" featuring beef, shrimp, and scallops, was also a highlight, leaving the customer feeling "food happy."

The ambiance of Ho Ping House is also well-regarded. One customer mentioned that the decor is "nice," which they found to be a welcome change from many other Chinese restaurants. They also noted that the service was "excellent" and expressed their intention to return.

Another visitor traveling to South Bend specifically sought out Chinese food and found Ho Ping House. They reported "really good service and food" and particularly appreciated the "really really cozy and lovely" ambience. The only minor issue mentioned was the visibility of the staff wardrobe behind the front desk, but this did not detract significantly from their positive experience, and they stated they would "definitely" come back.

Overall, Ho Ping House appears to be a Chinese restaurant that stands out for its quality of food, particularly dishes like the pot stickers and the triple treat, as well as its pleasant and cozy atmosphere and excellent service, making it a recommended choice for those seeking a good Chinese dining experience in South Bend.

I normally can’t tell the difference between good quality Chinese food and less than so I go to a lot of Chinese buffets. It takes a really special place for me to know it’s good quality. Yang Chow in Los Angeles is one of those places. Last Friday my friend suggested Ho Ping House in South Bend and it was fantastic! The egg drop soup was good. The pot stickers were the best ever had. The entrée was a chefs special called the triple treat. It was beef, shrimp, and scallops. It made me food happy. The decor is nice (something missing in a lot of Chinese restaurants) and the service was excellent. I’ll absolutely be back.

Well, you started off with the crab Rangoon, which were delicious. They came out very hot and we had it with duck sauce and the hot mustard. We had the veggie lo mein for one course also had the Phoenix and dragon dish which was lobster and general Tsos chicken combined together, and we also had the shrimp and scallop crispy salted which was delicious. Our waitress was excellent and we had a couple of Mai ties with our meal we highly recommend them if you’re in this area

Wow. Not good at all. The chicken was old, the rice was old, and the egg roll tasted like it had sat there for hours. There are no vegetables in the fried rice and only a few pieces of egg, that’s not fried rice. Very disappointed. The food here looks and tastes like it’s all frozen then dropped when ordered. Gross. I had better at Panda Express and that’s embarrassing. This was the worst Chinese food I’ve had in 35 years.
