When considering a buffet-style restaurant, it's particularly important to look at recent customer feedback to gauge the current dining experience. Online reviews can provide valuable insights into the quality of the food, the service, and the overall value offered. Recent reviews for Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet paint a concerning picture regarding these aspects.

One customer shared a profoundly negative experience, stating, "The food was so bad. Everything was cold and overcooked. Almost as if it was from the previous day or more." This description raises significant concerns about the freshness and quality of the food being served. The reviewer further mentioned that all three of their teenage children reported that their drinks "tasted like they had dish detergent in them." When this issue was brought to the attention of the waitress, the response was described as inadequate, with another staff member reportedly standing over them while they tried to eat and offering takeout cups, which the reviewer implied would not solve the detergent taste problem. This indicates a potentially serious issue with the beverages and a less than satisfactory response from the staff.

The financial aspect of this experience was also highlighted, with the customer stating they "paid $86 for four of us to basically eat nothing and we all left this buffet hungry." This suggests a significant disconnect between the cost of the meal and the quality and edibility of the food offered. The reviewer, who claimed to have experience with "pretty bad buffets," described this experience as so negative that they felt compelled to share it and vowed never to return under any circumstances. This strong condemnation underscores the severity of their dissatisfaction.

Another customer review was equally critical, beginning with the cautionary statement, "Hope you like what you pick out. See attached photo." This cryptic opening, followed by the information that "They charge 5.99/LBS for what is not eaten," points to a policy that might deter customers from trying different items or taking larger portions, potentially impacting the buffet experience. This charge for uneaten food is a notable feature that prospective diners should be aware of.

Further in their review, this customer stated that the "Food is cold and hard" and that the "Tea is instant." These comments echo the concerns about food quality raised in the first review, specifically mentioning the temperature and texture of the food. The mention of instant tea suggests a lack of attention to the quality of even basic beverage offerings. This reviewer concluded by stating, "First and last time here. Not at all impressed with the place," mirroring the sentiment of extreme dissatisfaction expressed in the other review.

Based on these two recent customer reviews, there are significant concerns regarding the food quality at Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet. Both reviewers described the food as being cold and unappetizing, with one specifically mentioning it being overcooked and tasting old. The alarming report of drinks tasting like detergent raises serious questions about the restaurant's hygiene and food safety practices. Additionally, the policy of charging for uneaten food at a rate of $5.99 per pound is an unusual feature that could influence how customers approach the buffet.

The environment of Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet is not explicitly described in these reviews. However, the negative feedback regarding the food and drinks overshadows any potential positive aspects of the ambiance. Typically, a hibachi grill and supreme buffet restaurant might feature various stations with a wide selection of food, including cooked Chinese dishes, a salad bar, a dessert section, and a hibachi grill where food is cooked to order in front of the customers. However, the reported issues with the quality and taste of the food suggest that the environment might not be the primary concern for potential diners at this time.

In terms of services, Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet primarily offers a buffet-style dining experience with the inclusion of a hibachi grill. The reviews touch upon the interaction with the waitress and another staff member regarding the drink issue, which was perceived as unhelpful. The policy of charging for uneaten food is also a service-related aspect that customers should be aware of. The availability of takeout cups was mentioned, but in the context of an unresolved issue with the taste of the drinks.

Features of Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet, based on its name and the general concept of such establishments, would typically include a wide variety of food options in a buffet setting, allowing customers to sample different dishes. The presence of a hibachi grill usually offers the feature of freshly cooked food tailored to the customer's preferences. However, the recent reviews suggest that the execution of these features might be falling short, with complaints about the temperature and quality of the buffet items.

The provided information does not include any promotional details for Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet. Given the recent negative feedback regarding the food quality and service, it is difficult to assess the value proposition of any potential promotions. Local users would need to inquire directly with the restaurant about any current specials or discounts, but it would be prudent to consider the recent customer experiences when evaluating such offers.

In conclusion, recent customer reviews for Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet in Durham, NC, raise significant concerns about the quality and freshness of the food, the taste of the beverages, and the overall dining experience. The reports of cold and overcooked food, drinks tasting like detergent, and a charge for uneaten food paint a negative picture. Local users considering dining at this establishment should be aware of this recent feedback and might want to exercise caution or seek more positive and recent reviews before making a decision. It would be advisable to contact the restaurant directly for the most up-to-date information on their offerings and policies, but the current online sentiment suggests a need for improvement in food quality and customer service.

The food was so bad. Everything was cold and overcooked. Almost as if it was from the previous day or more. All three of my teenage kids stated that their drinks tasted like they had dish detergent in them and when I mentioned this to the waitress she sent another guy over who basically stood over us the entire time we tried to eat this horrendous food and he offered us takeout cups as if that would get rid of the detergent taste. I paid $86 for four of us to basically eat nothing and we all left this buffet hungry. I've been to some pretty bad buffets, so I know not to expect the best but this experience was so bad I had to say something. I would never be a patron of this place again under any circumstances.

Unfortunately this was our first and last time trying this Hibachi Grill restaurant. It was one of our worst dining experiences since eating out again due to the pandemic. First of all they charge $14.99 on Friday nights and the variety of food being served is not worth it. All the dishes that we tried lacked any flavor from the bars and the grill. We arrived at the restaurant around 8:00 pm and they didn’t close til 10:00 pm, but they didn’t refresh the bar with fresh food. Some of the same items liked the overcooked and hard chicken wings, the fried fish and dried out Philly steak rolls were never replenished. The crawfish were really small compared to most of the Hibachi restaurants I have visited and no blue crabs. Several of the dishes on the bar were also not hot in temperature. The watermelon was the only thing that was worth eating and the waitress was attentive.

This place has been my family's go-to place for birthday celebrations. But after eight years, it's sad to see this buffet's decline: Whereas the prices are now jacked up ($51 tab for three adults), the buffet no longer offers seafood and now charges a fee of $5.99 per pound of wasted food. The serving area had a few flies during my visit, and selection seemed more limited. And the food quality is no longer up to its previous standard of "supreme." The salmon, chicken and beef are mediocre; but the sushi is good—GET THE SUSHI. Yet every visit, the staff is very friendly and accommodating; and we all find something we enjoy, even if it takes a few tries. Overall, given the economic issues plaguing this country, it's pleasant to see this buffet still open, even with a few minor drops in quality.

WORST FOOD EVER! me and two of my friends went there for lunch some thing was missing at the bar but most of the food was out. salad bar also sucked. Fixed 2 plates because I don’t like getting up as many times. it was a buffet. When I sat down my food was cold and had no flavor! I was pregnant at the time so I know was picky so my friends sit down there food was also cold and flavorless. We literally all took 2/3 bites to try a few different things on the plate ask them could we just leave with no pay or a discount because we didn’t eat they refused and began to tell us that it was “fee” for what you don’t eat so what was on our plate by the pound. What was higher then the buffet price. so we ask again can we pay half of the buffet because we didn’t eat. She says no so at this point I was over it and paid my buffet FULL price and left and went to red crab next door! Me or my friends will never return again. rude and 2.5 / 10 on food.
