About Hi Pot
Hi Pot, a Chinese restaurant located at 19066 Stevens Creek Blvd in Cupertino, California, appears to specialize in spicy pot dishes, offering a potentially unique dining experience for local users. The limited online reviews present a stark contrast in customer satisfaction, highlighting both the potential for delicious and highly enjoyable meals as well as the possibility of a significantly negative experience.
One enthusiastic reviewer shared a highly positive experience, stating that they shared one "hi pot" that was "all vegetarian" and found it to be "spicy delicious!!" This strong endorsement led them to declare Hi Pot as their "new favorite restaurant," indicating a very high level of satisfaction with their meal. The fact that a vegetarian spicy pot option was available and well-received suggests that Hi Pot caters to a variety of dietary preferences and can deliver flavorful vegetarian dishes.
This same reviewer also praised the appetizers they ordered, the "pancake scallions" and the "hot and spicy cucumber," describing both as "also amazing!" This further suggests that Hi Pot excels in creating flavorful and well-prepared dishes beyond their main spicy pot offerings, and that their appetizers are also noteworthy.
In stark contrast, another customer had an extremely negative experience with the spicy pot, stating unequivocally, "Worst spicy pot I’ve ever had!" This strong condemnation indicates a significant issue with the quality or preparation of this particular dish. The reviewer specifically mentioned "mala xiang guo," a type of dry pot stir-fry known for its numbing and spicy Sichuan flavors, and expressed disbelief at how it tasted. They also commented on its appearance, stating, "It looks awful too." This suggests that both the taste and the visual presentation of the dish were highly unsatisfactory.
The negative reviewer was so displeased that they refrained from providing further verbal description, instead urging others to "just look at the picture" (presumably one they might have shared online). This reliance on a visual representation to convey their dissatisfaction underscores the severity of their negative experience with the mala xiang guo at Hi Pot.
Given these two diametrically opposed reviews, it is challenging to ascertain the typical environment and services offered by Hi Pot. The positive review focuses entirely on the food quality and taste, while the negative review similarly centers on a specific dish. Neither review provides any information about the restaurant's ambiance, the attentiveness of the staff, the speed of service, or whether they offer dine-in, takeout, or delivery options. Local users would need to rely on other sources or their own experiences to gather information on these aspects.
Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional information or special offers in the provided reviews. Potential local users interested in any deals, lunch specials, or signature dishes that might be promoted by Hi Pot would need to contact the restaurant directly at (408) 366-2318 or +1 408-366-2318. Inquiring about their menu and any current promotions could provide a more comprehensive understanding of what they offer.
In conclusion, Hi Pot in Cupertino, CA, appears to be a Chinese restaurant specializing in spicy pot dishes, with at least one highly satisfied customer praising their vegetarian option and appetizers. However, another customer had an extremely negative experience with the mala xiang guo, citing poor taste and appearance. This significant discrepancy in reviews suggests a potential inconsistency in food quality or preparation, or perhaps a wide range in individual preferences for spicy pot dishes. Local users considering Hi Pot might want to inquire about the specific types of spicy pots they offer and perhaps try some of the appetizers that received positive feedback to gauge the overall quality. The lack of information about the environment and services means potential customers will need to form their own impressions or seek additional details from the restaurant directly.

We shared one hi pot - all vegetarian. It was spicy delicious!! This is my new favorite restaurant. As appetizers, we had the pancake scallions and the hot and spicy cucumber - both were also amazing!
Worst spicy pot I’ve ever had! I don’t know how someone managed to make mala xiang guo taste like this. It looks awful too. I won’t say more—just look at the picture.
Would totally give 0 star if there’s an option. My bf and I ate this for dinner ( super oily ), around 2AM my bf started feeling nauseous thinking probably it’s just too oily. Couple hours later he stared to barf NONSTOP plus insane diarrhea. There’s no way that’s just oil. We had to pull up to the ER to get treated, the doctor diagnosed him as EXTREME FOOD POISONING. I thought I was fine, I had stomach ache but later I felt better, but when I was waiting for my bf in the ER, I felt nauseous too. I started to barf nonstop and had multiple diarrheas. It has been an entire day now and our stomaches have no signs of stopping with the pain and reflux. Please come here if you want to spend thousands in the ER and feel terrible for the rest of your weekend ( at least ). This is what he barfed out, a whole sink of these( I’ve rinsed the sink and this piece was left)
I recently dined at Hi Pot and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The restaurant offers a wide range of choices for hotpot, with a great selection of meats, vegetables, and other ingredients. I appreciated the variety of options, which allowed me to create a customized meal that was perfect for my taste preferences. The food was of excellent quality, with fresh ingredients that were perfectly cooked. I particularly enjoyed the spicy broth, which had just the right amount of heat and added a wonderful depth of flavor to the meal. The price was also very reasonable, considering the quality and variety of the food that was offered. Also, they offered free sweet tea. However, one area where Hi Pot could improve is in their staffing on Sundays. During my visit, it seemed like there was only one waiter on staff, which led to some delays in service. Despite this, the waiter was incredibly friendly and did his best to keep up with the demands of the restaurant. With more staff on hand, I'm sure the experience would have been even more enjoyable. Despite this minor issue, I would highly recommend Hi Pot to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying hotpot meal. The food is of exceptional quality, with a wide range of choices that are sure to please any palate. The price is also very reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality of food that is offered. If you're looking for a great hotpot experience, Hi Pot is definitely worth a visit.
Talk about being surprised in a good way. I was planning to try another restaurant but ended up here instead. I came here during soft opening years ago and I wrote this restaurant off because at that time the food didn't taste good and most importantly there weren't enough frogs in the frog pot to warrant the price. I'm not sure whether they got their act together afterwards or they changed ownership/chef but the food improved dramatically. Not only is the food great tasting but also even the individual pots have enough stuff. I love the flavors. One reason the food tastes so good is because they lightly fried the food before cooking them in the pot so the flavors are baked in. It's a popular restaurant so they are definitely short staffed but be patient and the server will get to you. They also don't allow you to overextend your stay before closing time so if you go close to closing time, be prepared to eat fast. However these are so minor compared to how great the food tastes so I didn't deduct any stars off. Overall the best dry pot place in the bay area.
