The feedback from customers paints a picture of both satisfaction and areas for improvement. Many highlight the restaurant's ability to deliver mouthwatering main dishes, such as garlic chicken lo mein and Mongolian beef, which have remained crowd favorites. However, some have noted changes in their signature egg rolls, which once were unparalleled. While still enjoyable, they hope for a return to the original recipe that set such high standards.

Still a great meal, just not the same Heng Wing I grew up with. I grew up in Palatine and ordering out from Heng Wing was always a treat. Everything was always perfect and if there happened to be leftovers, they'd be gone within 24 hours. Even as a young adult I lived in downtown Palatine and frequented the establishment. Shrimp fried rice and an order of egg rolls were always my go to. I no longer live in the area but still get the craving when I come back. Today my family ordered out for Christmas Eve dinner. As I called to make my reservation, I noticed some less than favorable reviews recently. The reviews didn't deter me, and quite honestly, I'm glad they didn't. The main entrees we got were delicious as always. - garlic chicken lo mein - vegetable egg foo young - Mongolian beef - shrimp fried rice To many including myself, Heng Wing egg rolls were always second to none. While the egg roll I ate today was still decent, it was far from the same egg roll I have eaten hundreds of times. Others in my family agreed. The outside of the roll was perfectly crisp as always. The interior was lacking though with less meat than I remembered. I hope they can go back to their old roll recipe. They set the bar so high and I'm hoping they can reach it again.

Take out service is terrible. I placed phone order at 2:30 pm for a 6pm pickup. They said 5:30 would be better for them. I agreed and got there at 5:15pm and waited in the overfull lobby (like many other people) until 7:15pm. Totally unorganized order filling system with no apologies by anyone for their bumbled system.

My Dad is being held hostage at Heng Wing ! because they promised a 5:30 pickup for our order placed two days in advance, and can’t fulfill all the orders they accepted so are just making people wait indefinitely . The only explanation I was given by the receptionist when I called was to please be patient because we are all going through things and it’s the owners fault for overbooking orders. If we had known it would take this long we would have cancelled the order

Not sure why this place has such high ratings. I was excited to try, but it is definitely not up to it's hype. Rice is worse than Panda Express. Had the Beef Chow Fun was ok. Sweet and Sour chicken with fried rice. Meat was gray and rice was dry and no flavor.

After 25-years of steady visits to Heng Wing I am finally giving-up on this place. During the past year I've ordered out a few times hoping things would get better but I've been disappointed each time and now realize the new owners just don't care or are just numb to poor reviews. Last night was the final straw. I ordered 3 simple and straight forward dishes that should have been hard to mess-up: --Kung Pao beef --Combination chow mein --Sesame chicken Each dish was bad in its own way: The Kung Pao beef was low in beef and high in salt with a pasty and tasteless brown sauce. Very unappetizing and tasted like it was re-heated from earlier. The chow mein should have been a stir fried noodle dish with sizzling vegetables along with shrimp and chicken. What I got was a bland vegetable mix (over cooked and mushy) in a tasteless white sauce with a few blanched chicken and shrimp pieces. There were no pan fried noodles aside from a separate packet of dry, crispy wheat noodles that were intended as a garnish. The sesame chicken was soggy, way overcooked and hard and obviously was prepared much earlier and simply re-heated to order. What gets me is the pricing suggests a much higher quality dining experience. My son paid about $70 for the above and most definitely felt he overpaid for the low quality food. Very poor value. This place is in trouble and unless they make immediate adjustments to their quality and pricing they will just be another restaurant casualty in the near future. Ownership apathy has become their downfall.
