About Happy Wok

Happy Wok is a Chinese restaurant located at 3160 N Garey Ave in Pomona, California. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Happy Wok has recently undergone a change in ownership and staff, which has resulted in contrasting experiences reported by its customers. This introduction aims to provide local users with an objective overview of Happy Wok based on the most recent feedback available online, highlighting the reported changes and the differing opinions on the quality of food and service.

One recent customer shared a positive experience, emphasizing the friendliness of the staff and expressing love for the food. A notable point mentioned in this review is the practice of preparing food fresh upon request, even if it is not readily visible in the containers, especially during late-night visits. This suggests a commitment to serving freshly made dishes and accommodating customer preferences. The reviewer explicitly recommends the place under the new ownership and with the new staff, indicating a positive initial impression of the changes.

However, another recent review presents a starkly contrasting perspective, cautioning local residents about the new management. This reviewer described the food as "disgusting," stating that they took only one bite before discarding the rest due to its poor quality. They expressed strong disappointment, particularly in comparison to the food offered under the previous owners, whom they credited with making "the best fast food Chinese food." The reviewer concluded by labeling the current food as "just garbage" and vowed never to eat there again, highlighting a significant negative impact of the new management on their dining experience.

The limited number of recent reviews available paints a picture of a restaurant in transition, with potentially significant changes in food quality and possibly service. The positive review suggests that the new owners and staff are aiming to provide friendly service and fresh food, which could be a positive development for the establishment. The willingness to prepare food on demand, especially during off-peak hours, indicates a focus on customer satisfaction and freshness.

On the other hand, the strongly negative review raises serious concerns about the current state of the food quality. The drastic difference in opinion between the two reviews could indicate inconsistency or a significant change in recipes and preparation methods under the new management. The comparison to the previous owners' food, which was highly regarded by at least one local, sets a benchmark that the new Happy Wok is reportedly not meeting for some customers.

For local users in Pomona considering dining at Happy Wok, it is important to be aware of these recent, conflicting experiences. The restaurant appears to be undergoing a transformation, and the impact of the new management is still being assessed by the customer base. While some may find the friendly service and the option for freshly prepared food appealing, others have reported a severe decline in food quality.

Given the limited information, it is difficult to draw a definitive conclusion about the current state of Happy Wok. The positive review suggests potential improvements or at least a continuation of some positive aspects, while the negative review signals a significant drop in standards for at least one long-time customer. This situation underscores the importance of recent feedback when evaluating a restaurant, especially one that has undergone changes in ownership and management.

Local residents who have previously enjoyed Happy Wok might approach the restaurant with caution, considering the negative review. Conversely, new customers might be encouraged by the positive review highlighting fresh food and friendly service. It is possible that the experiences may vary, or that the restaurant is still in the process of establishing consistency under its new management.

Without information regarding the environment or any specific features beyond the potential for freshly cooked food, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive introduction. The focus of the recent feedback is primarily on the food quality and the impact of the new management. There is no mention of any promotional offers at this time.

In conclusion, Happy Wok in Pomona is currently under new management, and early customer reviews present a divided picture. One reviewer praises the friendly service and the willingness to cook food fresh, recommending the establishment. In stark contrast, another long-time local customer reports a significant decline in food quality, labeling it as "disgusting" and a far cry from the food offered by the previous owners. Local users should be aware of these differing opinions when considering a visit to Happy Wok. It may be prudent to exercise caution or to try it with tempered expectations, given the reported changes and the strong negative feedback from at least one customer.

It remains to be seen how the restaurant will evolve under its new leadership and whether it can regain the favor of previously satisfied customers while attracting new ones.

Locals beware!! This store is under new management and the food is disgusting. I took one bite and threw away the rest because it was so gross. I will never eat here again, which is a shame because the old owners made the best fast food Chinese food. This is just garbage.

Awesome food, my wife and I have been coming here for 10 years and no complaints. the chef Jimmy is a really nice guy. His wife also. I order the same thing over and over because it's so good. My wife loves the curry chicken I go for the black bean chicken with white rice and two sides of fried shrimps really good. The house chow mein is very great. we mostly order the specials that is made to order. where he cooks it right there and then. They do have pre made food but I love to see him at the wok..lol there are pre-made dishes you couldn't choose from if you like..

The review to end all reviews: Under new ownership as of 5 months ago from the date of this post 1/12/25 They made our order FRESH to order which is not normal for a Chinese food place (this is a GREAT thing!) Lady even gave us 2 complimentary egg rolls while we waited for them to cook our order fresh. We know it was fresh because the grill is in plain sight from the tables! I'm used to the happy wok in Rowland heights, so this was a new and awesome experience at this happy wok in pomona off garey. I tried the food, and it's delicious, totally recommended coming here. 5 star all the way! We order one container of chow mein, one container of fried rice, a container of 3 items (BBQ pork, beef broccoli, Kung pow chicken), 1 egg roll and 3 cream cheese wonton for only $37!! This will feed a family of 3!! Phenomenal for today's food inflation prices! Food: 5 stars out of 5 Customer Service: 6 stars out of 5 Interior smell: 5 stars out of 5 Floors and table cleanliness: 5 stars out of 5 Price: 6 stars out of 5 Totally recommend this Chinese food spot 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
