Based on available online feedback from real customers, experiences at Happy Garden II appear to vary. One customer reported a less than satisfactory experience, citing issues with the quality of fried items, suggesting the oil may not have been fresh. This review also mentioned missing items from a carry-out order and a beef dish that was not served at an appropriate temperature. This customer expressed a willingness to pay for quality dining but felt their experience did not meet expectations.
In contrast, another customer shared a positive experience, highlighting the extensive menu with numerous options available. This patron ordered a combination platter featuring sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, and an egg roll, and reported that their meal arrived hot and was very good. Notably, they also mentioned that the price point was more affordable compared to another local Chinese restaurant, Leann Chin, and indicated their intention to return to Happy Garden II.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it's important for potential customers to weigh these perspectives. The positive review suggests that Happy Garden II can deliver satisfying and affordable meals, particularly noting the variety offered on their menu and the prompt service of hot food. The mention of a combination platter indicates that they likely offer such options, allowing customers to sample different dishes. The comparison in price to Leann Chin suggests a potentially budget-friendly option for those in the Shorewood and Excelsior areas.
However, the negative review raises concerns about food quality, specifically regarding fried items and the freshness of cooking oil. Issues with order accuracy, such as missing items in a carry-out order, and temperature control of dishes are also areas that potential customers might want to consider. While this review represents one individual's experience, it's a factor to keep in mind.

Customer Reviews
It wasn’t great. Everything that was fried tasted like the oil hasn’t been changed in some time. Two items were missing from the carry-out order. The beef dish was fast approaching room temp. I’m still willing to pay the higher cost of dining out, but the food has to be worth it. This does not qualify.
Decided to try it today since I was near Shorewood and it's a family-owned business. Extensive menu with many options. Ordered a combination platter with sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, and egg roll. My meal arrived hot and was very good. As for price point, it's actually cheaper than Leann Chin. Will return.
First time here and everything was so good! I got the House Chop Suey, we also tried the House Lo Mein, General Tso's Chicken, fried rice, and cream cheese puffs. It all tasted amazing! Super hot too, even after we got it home. Super nice people and they very quickly prepared our order! Will definitely be returning and recommending!
Heavy pass… We ordered take out on Christmas Eve. Of course we knew it was going to be busy so we ordered online at 3pm for a 5:30 pick up time. I showed up about 5:50 expecting them to be running behind. I was told it would be about 20 mins before it would be ready. I waited with 30ish other people in the restaurant and watched food slowly…and I mean slowly leave the kitchen. My food finally came out at 7pm, 90 mins after it was supposed to be ready. One of the items wasn’t made and they offered to just give us a replacement dish with shrimp at no extra charge instead. My kid does not like shrimp so I let them know I needed what we ordered. It took another 10 mins and several reminders to get the final item. The food was not great, at all. Aside from being luke warm - chicken in sesame chicken was chewy and low quality, my kids wouldn’t even eat it - my item was supposed to be scallops, shrimp and chicken. It had one scallop, 3 pieces of shrimp, and a ton of chicken. Not a great mix for the price. - ordered 3 orders of cream cheese wantons and got 1 small container of sweet and sour sauce Overall, don’t go there on Christmas Eve, you’ll be told the food will be ready in 20 mins (heard this said multiple time to people that walked in) and then wait over an hour for subpar food. Maybe other days are better but we won’t be back to try.
I thought that the service was exceptional. Our needs were tended to, and we were checked on regularly. I definitely recommend the bubble tea. That was excellent. The food for me was subpar. It was drenched in sauce, which was too much for me. The sauce was dripping everywhere.
