About Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant, located at 52595 Columbia River Hwy in Scappoose, Oregon. As a local Chinese restaurant, we aim to provide a variety of Chinese dishes to the community. Our category reflects our focus on offering traditional Chinese cuisine for those seeking familiar flavors.

Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant appears to be mixed. Some patrons have found certain dishes, such as the chicken, fried rice, and soup, to be tasty. One reviewer noted that while the food was a bit salty, it was less oily, which they appreciated. The sweet and sour chicken was also mentioned as being decent.

However, other customers have expressed significant concerns regarding various aspects of their dining experience. Multiple reviews highlight issues with the service, particularly noting that there is often only one person taking orders and serving food. This has led to inconvenience when the restaurant is busy. One customer described the service as "sucked" even when there were only a few occupied tables.

Cleanliness and the overall environment of the restaurant have also been points of concern for some reviewers. Mentions of cobwebs, the need for tablecloths to be washed, and a general lack of cleanliness have been raised. One reviewer specifically noted that the restroom door, located in the center of the restaurant, was often open, which they found unhygienic. These observations suggest that improvements in the restaurant's upkeep and hygiene could enhance the dining experience for customers.

Furthermore, the presentation of the food has been described as "not good" by one reviewer. More seriously, some customers found the quality of certain dishes to be unsatisfactory, with one stating that the food was "gross" and that they had to send it back. The shrimp and "popsikle" (presumably a typo and referring to another dish) were described as greasy and inedible beyond a couple of bites. Another customer mentioned a horrible aftertaste in the pork fried rice, making it difficult to eat.

A particularly concerning observation was the cleanliness of the canned sodas, with one reviewer providing a picture as evidence. This led the customer to question the hygiene standards of the kitchen as well. The reviewer who had previously enjoyed the St. Helens location of what they believed to be the same establishment expressed significant disappointment with their experience at the Scappoose location and stated that they could not recommend it.

Adding to the negative experiences, one customer reported receiving a high bill for food that they did not eat due to its poor quality. This indicates a lack of resolution or satisfaction regarding the issues they encountered during their visit.

Given the feedback available, potential customers should be aware of the reported inconsistencies in food quality, service limitations during busy periods, and concerns regarding the cleanliness and overall environment of Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant. While some dishes have been described as tasty, the more prevalent themes in the reviews point to areas needing attention and improvement.

At this time, there is no specific promotional information available for Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant based on the provided data. Customers interested in dining at this establishment may want to consider the recent feedback and potentially inquire directly about any ongoing specials or improvements that may have been made.

As a local Chinese restaurant in Scappoose, Happy Garden has the potential to offer a valuable service to the community. However, addressing the concerns raised by recent customers regarding service efficiency, cleanliness, food quality, and presentation appears crucial for improving the overall customer experience and ensuring the restaurant's standing within the local dining scene.

Prospective diners may wish to weigh the positive comments about the taste of some dishes against the more frequent and serious criticisms regarding service, cleanliness, and food quality when making their decision. It is always advisable to consider a range of opinions and perhaps visit the restaurant to form a personal impression, keeping in mind the recent feedback provided by other customers.

For those who value prompt and attentive service, a clean and well-maintained dining environment, and consistently high-quality food, the recent reviews suggest that Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant may not currently meet these expectations. However, it is possible that the restaurant is under new management or has taken steps to address the issues raised in these reviews. Direct inquiry or a visit could provide the most up-to-date information.

In conclusion, Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant offers a menu of Chinese cuisine in Scappoose, Oregon. While some customers have enjoyed the taste of certain dishes, significant concerns have been raised regarding service efficiency, cleanliness, food quality, and presentation. Potential diners should consider this feedback when deciding whether to visit this establishment.

There is only one lady who takes orders and serves the food . If there is a crowd it is inconvenient for all. I have tried 3 types of food so far chicken, fried rice and soup and they were tasty. The food was a bit salty but was less oily. The place needs renovation as it has a few cobwebs and the table cloths needs washing. The overall decor is traditional but cleanliness but be considered too. The toilet which is located at the centre of the shop always has its door opened which is again not hygienic. If they work on cleanliness and the overall decor then they will surely be at a better standing. Although the food is good ...honestly I don't know how their kitchen would be ..I hope it is clean.

Presentation: not good. Service: we were only 3, out of 2 tables, service sucked. Food:gross! We sent our food back. The sweet and sour chicken was decent. But the rest, it almost made my husband and I throw up. Shrimp and popsikle was overall greesy as well and coudnt even eat past 2. The can sodas were dirty (see pic), which will tell alot of the kitchen they run. I really wanted to love it, because I would go to their st helens location. I coudnt even stomach the pork fried rice, which had a horrible after taste. Overall, do not recomend. And my bill was high for food we didn't eat.

Don’t waste your time here. Unless you like crab puffs with no crab, thigh meat complete with fat, egg roll with mystery meat. Place smells like fish and is dirty. Their bathrooms, ye gawd. Pic is of plate we shared. Couldn’t even finish it and we were starving. No tea, no soup with meal. 30 bucks for an appetizer plate and this catastrophe. I miss Bings.

Our go to when in the mood for Chinese food. Everything is always fresh and delicious! Egg drop soup is always awesome. Excited for them to come back out to St Helens.

Ordered take out Mushroom Chicken & Mushroom Tofu. It was cold and had a clear flvorless cornstarch sauce that had gelatinized. The mushrooms that should have been fresh were shriveled and tasteless. There was no onion in the dish either. There was very little chicken in this dish either. The one with tofu was almost all tofu. The fortune cookies were rock hard. I am wondering if they have a different cook. Last time our food was also poorly prepared. We will look for a better restaurant next time.
