This family-run restaurant has garnered positive attention for its unique dishes, friendly atmosphere, and a taste that transports diners straight to a homestyle eatery in China.

The environment of Happy Family Gourmet Inc is described as a "street food kind of place, small and comfortable." This suggests a casual and intimate setting, perhaps reminiscent of small, local eateries often found in bustling city streets. The presence of pictures for all the dishes is a notable feature, particularly helpful for those unfamiliar with the specific names or ingredients, allowing customers to visually explore the menu and make informed choices.

The beef roll, featuring thin slices of beef with veggies and herbs, is praised for its crispy exterior and flavorful interior, offering a delightful combination of textures and tastes.

Another interesting offering is a "pizza like dish with beef inside," characterized by thinly sliced and tender beef. This unique description piques curiosity and suggests a creative approach to incorporating beef into a less traditional Chinese format. The fried rice is specifically mentioned as being "made to order," emphasizing the freshness and care in its preparation, and the reviewer felt that the wait was "worth the time," indicating a commitment to quality over speed.

One particularly enthusiastic reviewer expressed surprise at overlooking this "incredible Shantung style family run restaurant" despite having eaten at many establishments in the area. This highlights the hidden gem quality of Happy Family Gourmet Inc. The reviewer sampled three dishes: the Xian hemp cold flat noodles, cabbage pork dumplings, and the smashed cucumber with peanuts, all of which were described as "outstanding." The Xian dish, with its cumin base, freshness, sesame oil, and moderate spiciness, stood out as particularly flavorful. The cabbage pork dumplings and the smashed cucumber were also highly praised, showcasing the restaurant's ability to excel in both noodle and dumpling categories, as well as offering refreshing cold appetizers.

A significant feature of Happy Family Gourmet Inc is the exceptional friendliness and welcoming nature of the staff. Despite the fact that they primarily speak Mandarin and Shantungese and do not speak English, they managed to make the reviewers feel "so welcome," highlighting the warmth and sincerity of their hospitality. This language barrier did not detract from the positive experience, further emphasizing the genuine and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant.

A street food kind of place, small and comfortable. We had so many dishes and I don’t know the real names but there are pictures of all. Fish dumplings, they are delicious! Mixed with herbs. Soup dumplings with pork! Scrumptious! One of my favorites Beef roll, thin slices with veggies and herbs, crispy outside and full of flavors on the inside There is a pizza like dish with beef inside sliced thin and tender The fried rice is made to order, just like everything else and the wait was worth the time

Wow!! What a surprise as we’ve eaten at many, many restaurants in the area but somehow overlooked this incredible Shantung style family run restaurant. We had three dishes, the Xian hemp cold flat noodles, cabbage pork dumplings and the smashed cucumber with peanuts. Each dish was just outstanding. The Xian dish had a cumin base and was soo fresh and delicious with sesame oil and was only moderately spicy. The cabbage pork dumplings were also outstanding as was the cucumber. Once we sat down the staff was extraordinarily friendly and welcoming but did not speak any English only mandarin and Shantungese. Yet they made us feel so welcome. This has to be one authentic Homestyle restaurant as we felt like we had walked into a family restaurant in China. It was fun and great experience so we’ll be back soon!!

I ate family style and tried the beef roll cake, chow mein, fried dumplings with pork, steamed dumplings with crab, another noodle dish, and a side of cabbage. I can honestly say I enjoyed everything I ate, it was so good and then the leftovers the next day were also delicious. The waitress was very helpful in recommending dishes to us that were good. Everything was clearly fresh and the noodles were house made. 10/10 experience.

Big portions and great prices for SF. Dumplings had a lot of flavor and great texture. The Green Beans are a must have. Noodles were alright, definitely will be back for more dumplings.

This restaurant is extremely underrated. The fact that it’s 4.1 on Google is saddening to me. Hands-down, the best restaurant I’ve had since I visited mainland China. We enjoyed the Szechuan beef noodles and beef dumplings. Can’t go wrong with any of the hand tossed noodles on their menu!
