About Happy Family

For local users in US researching Chinese restaurants, let's examine Happy Family, located at 3160 PA-115, Effort, PA 18330, USA, based on recent online feedback. While this restaurant is situated in the United States, analyzing customer experiences can provide insights relevant to evaluating local dining options, particularly regarding changes in quality.

Recent customer reviews for Happy Family paint a concerning picture, with both reviewers expressing strong dissatisfaction with the food quality since new owners took over. One long-time customer, who lives nearby, reported a significant decline in food quality. They ordered boneless spare ribs and orange chicken, describing the spare ribs as thinly cut, burned, and tasting like "tough jerky." The orange chicken was described as being "all fat no meat" and "gross," while the rice was reported as not fresh. This customer now drives 20 minutes to another restaurant for Chinese food, indicating a complete loss of confidence in Happy Family.

Another reviewer strongly advised against eating at Happy Family, comparing it to "lighting money on fire." They ordered General Tso's chicken and fried wontons. The chicken was described as having a "WEIRD" and "slimy" texture, making it "pretty much inedible." The wontons were also deemed inedible due to being "so hard" that they could potentially hurt one's teeth. This customer stated they threw the food in the trash and would never return, urging others to be warned.

Based on these recent and strongly negative reviews, there is no positive information available regarding the restaurant's environment, services, features, or any promotional offers. The consistent theme in the feedback is a significant decline in food quality since the new ownership. Therefore, based solely on this recent information, it is impossible to provide a positive introduction for local users in US. These reviews serve as a stark warning about the potential for negative changes in restaurant quality and the importance of considering recent feedback when making dining choices.

The food has gone down hill since the new owners took over. I ordered boneless spare ribs and orange chicken. The boneless spare ribs were cut thin and burned. The tasted like tough jerky. The orange chicken was all fat no meat. It was so gross. The rice was not fresh. It’s a shame because I live 5 mins away from them. Whenever I want Chinese I drive 20 mins to china pearl up the mountain.

Absolutely do not eat here unless you love lighting money on fire. Ordered general tso chicken and fried wontons. The chicken tastes WEIRD like so hard to describe it, it’s slimy and pretty much inedible. Wontons are also inedible. They are so hard that I can’t bite into them without hurting my teeth. Threw the food in the trash and absolutely will never be back. Be warned.

Sadly I have to give them one star just to give them a negative review. Time and time again I excuse there quality for the assumption they are very. According to wait time. This finally pushed me over the edge. After placing my order, I'm told it's only going to be a 10 minute wait. My first thought to such a short wait time is wow, and I started thinking I might get lucky and this is going to be the best meal I have from them yet. Boy was I wrong...... I ordered walnut chicken.... A $10 dish. Not very expensive but it should at least be edible... Right ??? What I got was just enough sauce to laugh at. Dry chicken that did not taste right. And what is most closely resembled was walnut chicken that has been sitting in the back of the fridge for a few days. The kind of leftover you wouldn't dare unless it was the middle of the night drunken snack. Never again happy family never again.
