About Happy China Cafe

Welcome to Happy China Cafe, your local Chinese Restaurant situated at 4001 S Sam Houston Pkwy E #135 in Houston, TX. While originally focused on dine-in service, Happy China Cafe has adapted to offer convenient takeout options while still welcoming customers for indoor seating.

Based on recent customer feedback, you can generally expect good quality food served promptly. Many patrons have highlighted the tasty dishes, with particular mentions of the flavorful Win Ton Soup and the generous portion of Egg Foo Young. While one reviewer noted a slight overcooking of meat on one occasion, the overall consensus points to consistently good food.

The service at Happy China Cafe is described as friendly and polite. While some customers have mentioned occasionally needing to call the waitress for assistance, they also note that requests are handled promptly and efficiently. In particular, a staff member named Lin/Ling has been consistently praised for excellent and attentive service.

Happy China Cafe is known for its affordable lunch specials, which are considered a great value. These specials typically include a main dish, soup, and an egg roll, all made to order, ensuring they are served hot and fresh. While one reviewer mentioned that some of the bottom dishes on the lunch menu can have a similar flavor profile, they are still considered tasty options.

It's worth noting that Happy China Cafe currently uses disposable dishes and plastic silverware for both takeout and dine-in customers. While convenient, some customers have found the plastic utensils to be less than ideal for certain crispy foods and have also raised concerns about the environmental impact of the disposable items.

In summary, Happy China Cafe offers a solid option for Chinese cuisine in Houston, with a reputation for good food, particularly its lunch specials and Wonton Soup, coupled with friendly service. Whether you're looking for a quick takeout meal or a dine-in experience, Happy China Cafe is a place many locals recommend visiting.

My food was served quickly and was pretty good, but I thought the meat was a little over cooked. That's usually not the case here. I'm rarely disappointed with the mostly excellent food. The Win Ton Soup was hot and very good! My friend had their ample egg foo young, half of which she took home with her. She seemed to enjoy it very much. The service was good, but we usually needed to call the waitress when we needed something. However, when we did, she took care of us immediately and is always friendly and polite. The place transitioned during Covid to mostly take out from previously focusing more on in house diners. So they serve everything in disposable dishes, with plastic silverware. However they have always been willing, since opening for indoor seating after Covid, to serve fine in customers. Their lunch specials are a real bargain, and the food is generally quite good. I'm sure I'll be back when I'm next in Pearland.

I’ve been coming here since a friend and I decided to check it out, and the food is consistently good. They offer a lunch deal with the main dish, soup, and an egg roll. While the soup options could be better, I personally enjoy the Wonton soup with a little chili oil added. The lunch options are made to order, so they’re always hot and fresh. A couple of things to note: 1.The bottom five dishes on the lunch menu have a similar taste, but they’re still tasty. 2.They use disposable utensils, which can be a bit annoying, especially when your fork bends trying to eat crispy food. It also leads to quite a bit of waste, which isn’t great for the environment. 3.The service from Lin/Ling is excellent—they’re always checking in to make sure everything is good. Overall, it’s a solid spot, and I’ll continue coming back. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Overall, I will continue to visit this place and suggest you so too if you're close.

Beautiful quiet and clean restaurant..Food is disgusting...it's Americanized Chinese food not authentic...minus well order from Panda Express down the street. I ordered general tso chicken spicy the lunch special it came with a soup which was good ...that is not what they gave me ...the general tso chicken is nasty....that is not an original sauce it's packaged sauce probably from Walmart . .....it's no love or authenticity to their food ...... The food was not spicy and it was piping hot like you couldn't eat it.had the nerve to add 2 chili peppers like they made it ...no her s or seasoning.straight fake sauce. They should be ashamed to call themselves Chinese.😖😖😖 the dine in experience was subpar....paper plates, cups, and utensils.......Panda Express has more ppl in their drive thru than this place ...we were the only ppl there for awhile.....

Unfortunately I had a bad experience tonight … I order my food through Uber Eats and when I got my food some of it was cold.. but that wasn’t the issue .. as I’m trying to indulge in my Chicken and Broccoli plate after enjoying the appetizers, as I take a few bites I go for my next one and take a look at it and see a DEAD ROACH on my food.. I took a lot of me to not run to the bathroom… I closed my meal and placed it in the trash.. I go to call the store and as I’m speaking with the young lady I go to ask for a refund and all she is saying is sorry you ordered through Uber eats and while I do understand that.. she goes to offer for me to bring the food back and get a fresh plate on which I politely declined being that it was a bug in my food .. whose to say there won’t be another I didn’t want to get another plate just to be hesitant to eat. so overall my experience tonight has been horrible.

This was the first time I came to eat here, and it was disgusting. I ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce, and it was not appetizing at all. It tasted burned, the peas were really hard, and it was super watery. I will never come back here.
