About Handy Kitchen

Welcome to Handy Kitchen, a Chinese restaurant located at 192 US-23 in Weber City, VA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the local community, Handy Kitchen has garnered exceptional praise, particularly for its American Chinese cuisine, including Cantonese and Szechuan styles. Based on recent customer reviews, Handy Kitchen appears to be a hidden gem that surpasses the expectations of even discerning palates.

One remarkable review comes from a customer who identifies as a chef and social media blogger originally from New York City. This reviewer, with a background deeply rooted in American Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine due to their upbringing in NYC, states that Handy Kitchen "by FAR surpasses any of the Chinese food I have eaten in the last seven years" since moving from Vermont to Massachusetts and finally to Southwest Virginia. This is an incredibly strong endorsement, suggesting that Handy Kitchen offers a level of quality and authenticity that is rare to find, even when compared to the competitive Chinese food scene of New York.

The reviewer further elaborates on the positive aspects, mentioning "flavor, timing, and service" as being "all VERY good." While they chose not to provide an even more detailed review, this summary indicates that Handy Kitchen excels not only in the taste of its food but also in the efficiency of its preparation and the quality of its customer service. This holistic praise suggests a well-run establishment that pays attention to all aspects of the dining experience.

Specifically regarding the food, the reviewer notes that it has "a really good flavor." For those who appreciate well-seasoned and delicious American Chinese dishes, this is a key takeaway. The review also offers a valuable suggestion for customers who enjoy spicy food: "if you order and are expecting spicy food, ask them to make it to the hottest of their ability, (trust me you won’t die )". This implies that Handy Kitchen is willing to accommodate requests for a higher level of spiciness, and the reviewer's playful reassurance suggests that their "hottest" level is flavorful without being excessively overwhelming. This caters to those who seek an authentic Szechuan kick or simply prefer their dishes with significant heat.

Another standout item mentioned in the review is the hot and sour soup, which the reviewer describes as "perfect." They were so impressed that they "didn’t even have to add hot sauce, sesame oil, or anything, it was perfect." This indicates a well-balanced and flavorful rendition of a classic Chinese soup, where the inherent taste profile is satisfying on its own, without the need for additional condiments. This level of perfection in a staple dish speaks volumes about the culinary skill at Handy Kitchen.

The reviewer concludes with a strong affirmation of their intent to return, stating, "We will definitely be back, thanks!" This repeat business, especially from someone with such a discerning palate and extensive experience with American Chinese food, is a significant testament to the quality and appeal of Handy Kitchen.

Another customer echoed the positive sentiments, simply stating, "They deserve more business their food is really good and it's authentic, I would definitely come here again . . ." While this review is brief, the use of the word "authentic" (in addition to the first reviewer's comparison to NYC Chinese food) suggests that Handy Kitchen offers a genuine taste of well-prepared American Chinese cuisine that resonates with customers who appreciate quality. The sentiment that they "deserve more business" implies that Handy Kitchen is a worthwhile local establishment that offers excellent food and deserves greater recognition.

Based on these glowing reviews, Handy Kitchen in Weber City, VA, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that excels in providing delicious and authentic American Chinese cuisine, including Cantonese and Szechuan dishes. The food is praised for its flavor, and the service is also noted as being very good. For those who enjoy spicy food, the recommendation to request the highest level of heat suggests that they cater to those preferences. The hot and sour soup is highlighted as a particularly perfect dish. The overall impression is of a restaurant that offers high-quality food that even impresses those with extensive experience with this type of cuisine.

For local users in Weber City, VA, and the surrounding areas, Handy Kitchen seems to be an exceptional option for satisfying your cravings for American Chinese food. The strong endorsement from a New York chef and blogger should be particularly compelling, suggesting a level of quality that surpasses many other establishments in the region and even beyond. 10/10 on American Chinese food, and I’m from NYC. I am actually a blogger on social media and a chef. I am from NY And American Cantonese and Szechuan was all around me growing up. This by FAR surpasses any of the Chinese food I have eaten in the last seven years since moving to Vermont , then to mass, now here to SW Va. I could go on about flavor, timing , and service but I’ll spare you the even more drawn out review and just saw it’s all VERY good. The food has a really good flavor. I suggest , if you order and are expecting spicy food, ask them to make it to the hottest of their ability, (trust me you won’t die ) and try the hot and sour soup. It’s perfect. I didn’t even have to add hot sauce, sesame oil, or anything, it was perfect,. We will definitely be back, thanks!

Good local spot in the most unlikely place. Stopped in on Sunday afternoon around 1:30, not busy and we were the only table. We ordered General Tso's, Sesame Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, Cream Cheese Wonton, and Shrimp Egg Rolls. The food was freshly made and served hot, large portions. Food quality was good but taste was average. Atmosphere was good as was the service, very nice people. Prices were about what we expected, 46 dollars for 3 meals with drinks, extra egg rolls, and the wontons. We would definitely eat here again if in the area and wanting Chinese, probably wouldn't go out of the way to travel here and eat though. Worth a try if you're nearby.

This place has the best and more authentic tasting food than any other Chinese places in the Tricities. If you ever frequented Plum Tree when it was open that was in Colonial Heights Kingsport TN, it's very close to the food I had there as it was exceptional. There is always a good amount of food and it appears and tastes as fresh as you can get. I drive about 30 minutes to buy food from here.
