About Han Palace-Barracks Row

Welcome to Han Palace-Barracks Row, a Chinese Restaurant located at 522 8th St SE, Washington, DC 20003, USA. Han Palace offers a modern take on Chinese cuisine, providing a 'tasting menu' experience rather than a traditional dim sum service.

The restaurant is noted to be somewhat small in size, which could potentially lead to a busier atmosphere during peak hours such as happy hour or weekends. However, the ambiance is described by customers as adorable, suggesting a pleasant and inviting setting for diners.

Han Palace-Barracks Row offers a unique service through its 'tasting menu', which functions as an all-you-can-eat option. There are typically two main choices for this menu. Option B, priced around $48 per person, provides access to the entire menu, including roast items like the highly praised Peking Duck. Customers have found the service to be quick and efficient.

A key feature of Han Palace is its 'tasting menu' format, allowing diners to sample a wide array of dishes. The Peking Duck is consistently highlighted as a standout item. Other notable dishes include the purple yolk bun, beef dry chow, and vegetable lo mein, which have received positive feedback. While the dumplings are considered acceptable, some reviewers note they may not be on par with traditional dim sum establishments. The restaurant offers a great value, especially with Option A of the tasting menu, allowing customers to enjoy a substantial amount of food.

Went here for lunch and the food was great! The place is kinda small. Can't imagine how it is when it's happy hour or the weekend.Me and my bestie went when it just opened on a Friday. They have 2 menu choices. We did the 2nd option. It was like an all you can eat. Everything we ordered was good. The Peking duck was everything!! The purple yolk bun was really good. Wish I could have eaten all of it but I was full by the time we got to dessert lol. Would definitely go back!!

I'll start out with saying this is not a traditional dim sum restaurant so this review is not to compare it to places like China Garden or AJs. Han Palace's all you can eat option is called their tasting menu and I think THAT is an accurate description. And I really enjoyed it!! For $35pp, you can get a lot of solid options for dumplings, noodles, fried rice and congee. For the two of us, I thought that was the best deal. Option B is $48 and opens access to their whole menu to include their roast items which is great. I would only do this option if I was very hungry or if I had a larger group as I don't think I would have been able to eat my money's worth. I won't list everything we tried but I will say their dumplings were acceptable but not as good as traditional dim sum places. We tried their beef dry chow and the veg lo mein and both were excellent. Service was quick, not un-friendly, and the ambiance was adorable. Will definitely be back and with friends!!

This is such a quaint little spot in DC, upscale Asian dining for sure. I absolutely love the decor and ambiance. Even the restrooms are super cute! We got the all you can eat deal, and definitely did justice to that offer. The food was good, some items were excellent like the dumplings, some average, others not so much. The noodle dishes and rice dishes were quite large for a tasting, if you ate it, there was no room to try anything else. So ask for smaller portions, and try more dishes. Our waitress seemed a little annoyed that we were there for some reason, her demeanor was definitely not welcoming, and really put me off. I also didn't like that the Gratuity was added onto the check without my nowledge, and it was only a party of two, is this a new rule I haven't heard of? It was an experience to have as a one time thing.

SOUP DUMPLINGS SOUP DUMPLINGS SOUP DUMPLINGS The soup dumplings here are my favorite. I have taken so many friends here to share my love of their soup dumplings. Also recommend the lo mein and fried rice dishes! The purple gold yolk dessert buns are pretty tasty too. The wait staff is very friendly and service is good. I also love the decor. I look forward to visiting a lot more soon!

The food was really good. Very little wait time and the hot fruit tea is amazing as well. 10/10 recommend. I also had my 3 year old with me and they were very accommodating.
