About Han Dynasty

Han Dynasty is a BYOB Chinese restaurant located at 404 NJ-70, Cherry Hill Township, NJ 08034, USA. They can be contacted at (856) 428-0088 or +1 856-428-0088. A sign on the door reportedly states that Han Dynasty was rated one of the top 50 Chinese restaurants in the US.

One customer had a largely positive dine-in experience, noting "Great food and service!" They appreciated the "great variety of dishes to try with different meat and sauce combinations" and found that "Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and the portions were great for family style sharing." They especially enjoyed the "dumplings in chili oil and scallion pancakes as appetizers" and liked the "hot style chicken," while their family particularly enjoyed the "garlic style beef." They also appreciated the choice of "white or brown rice" and found the staff "very friendly" and helpful with recommendations. Their complaints were the lack of birthday acknowledgements and that takeout from this location is "not as good (but still not bad!) as eating the food in-person." They also noted that the Cherry Hill location is less grand than the University City one, citing dimmer lighting and a fly issue during their visit, but concluded they would "definitely come back" due to convenience and wanting to try other dishes.

However, another customer had significant negative experiences, stating, "Sometimes the food here is made really well with good portions, sometimes its not. One consistent pattern I keep seeing here is the food taking way too long." They advised getting a refund and going to another restaurant if this happens. They reported inconsistent quality and portion sizes and frequent issues with takeout not being ready on time. In one instance, after being told the manager could take his time to ensure quality, they waited 35 minutes past the pickup time for the cooking to even start. The rushed order resulted in free DanDan noodles that were "not even edible because it was mushy and oversaturated with oils," leading the customer to feel "screwed over" and regret being kind.

Based on these reviews, Han Dynasty in Cherry Hill Township, NJ, offers a varied dining experience. While some customers praise the flavorful food, generous family-style portions, friendly service, and variety of dishes (especially when dining in), there are significant concerns about inconsistent food quality and portion sizes, as well as very long wait times for food, particularly takeout. The dine-in environment at the Cherry Hill location is described as fine but less impressive than another location, with dim lighting and occasional pests mentioned. A notable drawback is the lack of birthday acknowledgements. Local users should weigh the positive feedback on dine-in food quality and variety against the reported issues with inconsistency and slow service, especially for takeout, when considering Han Dynasty.

The environment at the Cherry Hill location is described as fine but with dim lighting and occasional issues like flies. Services include dine-in and takeout, with generally friendly staff who offer recommendations, though service can be slow. Key features include a great variety of flavorful dishes with generous family-style portions (when food is well-made), particularly enjoyed appetizers like dumplings in chili oil and scallion pancakes, and popular dishes like hot style chicken and garlic style beef, with a choice of rice. Drawbacks include inconsistent food quality and portion sizes, long wait times for food (especially takeout), takeout quality being lower than dine-in, no birthday acknowledgements, and a less impressive ambiance compared to other locations. Great food and service! The sign on the door says Han Dynasty was rated one of the top 50 Chinese restaurants in the US, so I went in with high expectations. I'm happy to report that I left pretty satisfied! This BYOB has great variety of dishes to try with different meat and sauce combinations. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and the portions were great for family style sharing. We especially enjoyed the dumplings in chili oil and scallion pancakes as appetizers and I really liked the hot style chicken. My Mom and brother especially enjoyed the garlic style beef. We also had our choice of white or brown rice with our dishes which supplemented the meats and veggies well. The staff was also very friendly and made great recommendations for what to try. One complaint I have is that they don't do anything to acknowledge birthdays, which is unfortunate because the family style portions lend themselves well to family gatherings such as birthdays. Another complaint is that I've had takeout from here before and it's not as good (but still not bad!) as eating the food in-person. I've also been to the University City location and it's noticeably grander with a bigger space, more comfortable seating, and a cocktail menu. The Cherry Hill Location is fine enough too; it's just that the lights are a little dim and there was a pesky fly that wouldn't leave us alone. Overall, I'd definitely come back to this location since it's more convenient for me and I'm anxious to try some of their other dishes!!

Sometimes the food here is made really well with good portions, sometimes its not. One consistent pattern I keep seeing here is the food taking way too long. If this happens just get your money back and go to Shangri La. You may save yourself 45 minutes of your time (that is including the time for Shangri La to cook the food and drivetime there from Han). Honestly pick any other place but here. Too inconsistent in quality and portion. Food is constantly not ready on time for takeout. I was nice enough to tell the manager to take his time because I wanted him to make it with quality. I didnt think he would take 35 minutes after the pickup time to start cooking the dish. He rushed the order last minute and threw in DanDan Noodles for free. I thought okay I got free DanDan noodles but it wasnt even edible because it was mushy and oversaturated with oils. If I got my money back I would have not felt like I got screwed. I have never felt this screwed over by a restaurant and clearly took my kindness for weakness.

Voted Best restaurant in Cherry Hill, 2024 (sign on the door)! Take that, Dolsot House. 🤣 Been here many many times. It is BYO. I usually drink the awesome hot tea here and water, and go have a couple beers afterwards somewhere else. I love the dumplings in chili oil, dry pepper fish, pickled chili fish, snow pea leaves with garlic, chinese cabbage and of course the Dan Dan noodles! Everything is so delicious. Never have a problem with service, and honestly even though the restaurant atmosphere is not high end, its good quality food and they will customize how you want so the atmosphere doesn't matter. Also always tables available usually no wait.

Good: lamb dry pot Ok: three cup chicken Meh: wontons in chili oil Lamb dry pot was good and came in this tower with a fire underneath. The Three cup chicken was a little syrupy sweet (and I both like sweet and have had 3 cup chicken before) for me but the texture was perfect. Wontons were underfilled with a crumbly filling that didn't hit the spot for me. Sauce was also watery and did not stick well to the wontons.
