About Gui Zhou Miao Jia

Welcome to Gui Zhou Miao Jia, a Chinese restaurant located at 136-55 Roosevelt Ave in the vibrant Flushing neighborhood of New York (11354, USA). As a distinctive member of the Chinese Restaurant category, Gui Zhou Miao Jia offers local users a taste of the unique culinary traditions of Guizhou (贵州) and Miao (苗族) ethnic minority cuisines from China. You can contact them at (917) 285-2535 or via their mobile number +1 917-285-2535 to explore their menu and experience these flavorful dishes.

Based on the limited but insightful customer reviews available, Gui Zhou Miao Jia seems to specialize in dishes that are both flavorful and potentially spicy, characteristic of Guizhou cuisine. One reviewer who ordered a soup found it to be "quite good." They noted that the price was "okay," suggesting a reasonable value proposition. However, this reviewer also mentioned experiencing significant thirst after consuming the soup, speculating that it might have contained a higher amount of MSG. Despite this, they concluded by recommending the restaurant to those "craving some spicy food," indicating that spice is a prominent feature of their offerings.

Another reviewer, who appears to be the first to leave a written review, enthusiastically praised the "texture of the rice vermicelli" as "divine!" This suggests that noodle-based dishes, likely a staple in Guizhou and Miao cuisine, are a highlight at Gui Zhou Miao Jia. The reviewer also expressed a strong positive sentiment towards the food, stating, "I don't care about no parking nearby or really limited seating inside. Wear your ragged shirts, come here, and slurp away!" This paints a picture of a casual and authentic dining experience where the quality of the food takes precedence over elaborate amenities. The reviewer specifically raved about the "beef tenders," describing them as melting in the mouth, further emphasizing the deliciousness of their dishes.

Guizhou cuisine (贵州菜) is known for its bold, sour, and spicy flavors, often utilizing chili peppers, garlic, ginger, and fermented ingredients to create complex and aromatic dishes. Miao cuisine (苗族菜), while influenced by Guizhou cooking, also has its own distinct characteristics, often featuring pickled vegetables, glutinous rice, and unique cooking methods. Given the restaurant's name, "Gui Zhou Miao Jia" (贵州苗家), which translates to "Guizhou Miao Family," it is highly likely that their menu showcases specialties from both of these culinary traditions, offering a unique gastronomic experience for those in Flushing.

Regarding the environment of Gui Zhou Miao Jia, one reviewer explicitly mentioned "really limited seating inside." This suggests that the restaurant might be small and primarily focused on quick service or takeout, with only a few tables available for dining in. The reviewer's comment about wearing "ragged shirts" further implies a very casual and unpretentious atmosphere, where the emphasis is squarely on the food rather than the decor or formal dining etiquette. If you are looking for a relaxed and authentic experience without the need for fancy surroundings, Gui Zhou Miao Jia might be a good fit.

The services offered by Gui Zhou Miao Jia likely include takeout, given the limited seating mentioned. It is also probable that they offer dine-in options, albeit with potentially limited capacity. To determine if they provide delivery services, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly. The positive comments about the food quality and the recommendation for spicy food enthusiasts suggest that the focus is on delivering flavorful and authentic dishes.

Features of Gui Zhou Miao Jia that stand out based on the available reviews include:

  • Authentic Guizhou and Miao Cuisine: Offering a taste of regional Chinese minority dishes known for their unique flavors, particularly sourness and spiciness.
  • Delicious Rice Vermicelli: Praised for its "divine" texture, suggesting a specialty noodle dish.
  • Tender Beef: The "beef tenders" are described as melting in the mouth, indicating a high-quality and well-prepared meat dish.
  • Spicy Food Options: Recommended for those who enjoy dishes with a kick.
  • Reasonable Prices: One reviewer found the prices to be "okay," suggesting affordability.
  • Casual and Unpretentious Atmosphere: Focus on the food quality over formal dining.

The potential downside mentioned by one reviewer was the possibility of excessive MSG in the soup, leading to thirst. While this is a subjective experience and may not affect all customers, it is something to be aware of. If you are sensitive to MSG, you might consider inquiring about the ingredients and preparation methods of specific dishes.

No specific promotional information was mentioned in the provided reviews. Ordered a soup here and it is quite good. The price is okay. The only downside is that I got really thirsty after having the soup, I am guessing they put a bit too much of MSG in it? But if you are craving some spicy food, you should give it a try.

No reviews... Until now! The texture of the rice vermicelli is devine! I don't care about no parking nearby or really limited seating inside. Wear your ragged shirts, come here, and slurp away! Their beef tenders melt in your mouth.

Good noodle soup shop. Located in the furthest right corner. Reasonably priced. Small portion. Seating available inside the little food court.

This spot is sooo good! I've been coming here for a year, and always get their hot & sour beef noodle soup. It's the best and great quality! It's across the street from Macy's, in a hole in the wall kinda spot, but don't let it deter you. It's def worth going!
