About Green Tea Chinese Restaurant

Green Tea Chinese Restaurant is located at 126 Newbury St. Route, 1 South US-1 in Peabody, Massachusetts. As a local Chinese restaurant, it offers takeout and pickup services to the community. However, recent customer reviews provide insights that potential patrons should consider when making their dining decisions. These reviews highlight significant concerns regarding food quality, portion sizes, and customer service.

Regarding the environment of Green Tea Chinese Restaurant, the provided reviews offer limited information. One customer who arrived early for a pickup order on New Year's Eve noted that the restaurant was empty at 4:30 PM, despite expecting a crowd. This observation provides a snapshot of the restaurant's activity level at that particular time but does not offer a comprehensive description of the dining ambiance or decor. Without further details from the available reviews, it is difficult to objectively describe the environment for dine-in customers, if that option is indeed available.

The primary service mentioned in the reviews is takeout or pickup, as both customers who left feedback had ordered food to be consumed off-premises. One customer picked up their order directly from the restaurant, while the other did not specify the pickup method. There is no mention of dine-in or delivery services in these particular reviews. The experience of the customer who picked up their order suggests a potential issue with the timing of food preparation relative to the scheduled pickup time, resulting in cold food despite prompt arrival. This raises concerns about the restaurant's process for ensuring food is served at the appropriate temperature for pickup customers. The second review does not detail the service interaction beyond the alleged refusal of a refund, focusing instead on the severe issue of finding plastic in the food.

Based on the available customer feedback, a significant feature, or rather a point of concern, is the perceived quality and consistency of the food. One reviewer described their food as "tasty" but noted that it was cold upon pickup, suggesting it may have been prepared significantly in advance. The need to reheat the food at home reportedly compromised its taste, aligning with the common perception that reheated Chinese food often loses its original appeal. This indicates a potential issue with food preparation timing or holding temperatures at Green Tea Chinese Restaurant. More alarmingly, another reviewer recounted a serious incident where their mother allegedly choked on a "huge piece of plastic" found in the shrimp. This is a severe food safety concern that raises questions about the restaurant's kitchen practices and quality control measures.

Another notable aspect highlighted in one of the reviews is the quantity of food relative to its price. The customer stated that "the quantity of food for the price doesn’t make sense," describing the portions as "very small." This suggests that customers may find the value proposition of Green Tea Chinese Restaurant to be unfavorable, receiving less food than expected for the cost. This issue, combined with the problem of cold food, further detracts from the overall customer experience as reported in these reviews.

The second review also raises serious concerns about customer service and cleanliness. The customer alleged that the restaurant "refused to refund her money" after the incident involving plastic in the food, characterizing this as "bad customer service." Furthermore, they explicitly stated that "cleanliness is clearly an issue" and issued a "Beware" warning to potential customers. These are significant allegations that should be carefully considered by anyone thinking of ordering from or visiting Green Tea Chinese Restaurant. The lack of resolution for a serious food safety issue, as claimed in the review, suggests a concerning approach to customer relations and safety protocols.

The provided information does not include any details about promotional offers or specials at Green Tea Chinese Restaurant. It is common for restaurants to have such promotions to attract customers, but there is no mention of any in these reviews. Given the negative feedback regarding food quality, portion sizes, and customer service, the absence of information about promotions is perhaps less relevant than addressing the fundamental issues raised by these customers.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Green Tea Chinese Restaurant in Peabody, MA, paint a concerning picture. Issues with food being cold upon pickup, small portion sizes for the price, an alleged incident of a customer choking on a large piece of plastic found in the food, a reported refusal of a refund in response to this serious issue, and a direct accusation of poor cleanliness and bad customer service are significant red flags. Potential customers should carefully consider these points before deciding to order from or visit Green Tea Chinese Restaurant. While these reviews may not represent the totality of experiences at this establishment, they are serious enough to warrant caution and further investigation or consideration of alternative options for Chinese cuisine in the Peabody area. The lack of positive feedback in these recent reviews makes it challenging to recommend Green Tea Chinese Restaurant based solely on this information.

Ordered for NYE so maybe not the best time to provide a review. Food was ordered with a 5 pm pickup but got there at 4:30 as I was expecting a crowd in the restaurant, but it was empty. The food was ready, so I took it home. Although the food was tasty, it was cold. I think it had to have been prepared for pickup at 1. We had to heat it up but once you heat up Chinese food, it always tastes like left overs. Also, the quantity of food for the price doesn’t make sense. Very small portions.

My mother chocked on a huge piece of plastic in the shrimp. They refused to refund her money. Bad customer service. Cleanliness is clearly an issue. Beware ⚠️

Best Chinese food in Massachusetts, been coming to Green Tea for 15 years since the Lynn location. The owner Bill goes above and beyond whenever I walk through the door, so if you’re ever there tell them you know me cuz I know people 😂.

My hotel recommended this place so I gave it a try. Service was good and fast. Ordered the Won Ton soup. It was Ok. There was cabbage in it so that is what changes the taste. Not a fan. I also ordered the spare ribs. Very meaty but the sauce did not have much of a taste. They were good but not what I am used to. The atmosphere was nice. Would I come back? Probs. Give it a try.

I try to never leave bad reviews but, honestly the food was not good. Not sure if it was left over from previous day. Did not seem fresh. No taste. We let them know when we left. We won't be back. The waitstaff and service was great. It's too bad the food did not match up to their high standards. Won't be back.
