About Great Wall Restaurant

Welcome to Great Wall Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located at 4 Olde Eastwood Village Blvd in Asheville, North Carolina (28803), USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Great Wall Restaurant primarily offers takeout services to the local community. You can reach them at (828) 298-1887 or their mobile number +1 828-298-1887 to place an order or for inquiries.

As a Chinese Restaurant focused on takeout, Great Wall Restaurant provides a convenient option for those in the Asheville area seeking Chinese cuisine to enjoy at home. Based on the available customer reviews, the experiences seem to be somewhat varied, with some highlighting positive aspects such as food quality and portion sizes, while others point out areas for potential improvement, particularly in customer service and certain dishes.

One reviewer who visited Great Wall Restaurant on a holiday when other establishments were closed described the food as "basic" and something that "get the job done." This suggests that the food may not be exceptionally innovative or gourmet but serves as a standard option for those craving Chinese takeout. Specific dishes mentioned by this reviewer include dumplings that were "way over battered" and pork fried rice that "needed quite a bit of seasoning." On a more positive note, they found the egg rolls to be "tasty." This review also indicates that there is no dine-in option available at Great Wall Restaurant, making it exclusively a takeout service.

In contrast, another reviewer shared a more positive experience, particularly noting their past patronage of the restaurant seven years prior when they lived in Fairview. Upon returning to the area, they were pleased to find Great Wall Restaurant still open and decided to try it again. This time, they ordered the teriyaki shrimp combo plate and reported a "great flavor" and "plentiful portions." They were also satisfied with the shrimp, describing them as "big, plump, tasty" rather than small salad shrimp. The combo plate also included "lots of veggies" and a more than ample serving of rice. The egg roll that came with the meal was so enjoyable that the reviewer wished they had ordered two.

However, this second reviewer did mention a significant drawback: the lack of customer service. They described the staff as "not friendly," suggesting a potential issue with the overall interaction. While they speculated that a language barrier might be a contributing factor, they emphasized that "even a smile goes a long way" in improving the customer experience.

Considering these two reviews, it appears that Great Wall Restaurant offers a mixed bag. The food quality can be decent, with some dishes like the teriyaki shrimp and egg rolls receiving positive feedback, while others, such as the dumplings and pork fried rice, have been criticized. The portion sizes seem to be generally generous, offering good value in terms of quantity. However, the lack of a dine-in option and the reported unfriendly service are factors that potential customers should be aware of.

Regarding the environment, as Great Wall Restaurant is described as a takeout-only establishment, there is no information available about a dining area or its ambiance. The focus is likely on the kitchen and the area for order pickup. Customers should expect a functional space designed for efficient takeout service rather than a comfortable dine-in setting.

The services offered are primarily centered around preparing and packaging food for customers to take away. The staff is involved in taking orders, cooking the food, and handling payment. While one reviewer found the staff to be friendly, the other reported a lack of friendliness, suggesting inconsistency in the service experience. The absence of a dine-in option is a key aspect of their service model.

In terms of features, Great Wall Restaurant offers a variety of standard Chinese-American dishes suitable for takeout. The plentiful portions mentioned by one reviewer could be considered a positive feature for those looking for good value in terms of quantity. The tasty egg rolls also stand out as a well-received item. However, the inconsistency in the quality of other dishes, such as the over-battered dumplings and under-seasoned fried rice, might be seen as drawbacks.

There is no mention of any specific promotional information or specials being offered by Great Wall Restaurant in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any potential discounts or special offers would need to contact the restaurant directly at the provided phone numbers or inquire when placing their order.

For local users in Asheville looking for a Chinese takeout option, Great Wall Restaurant presents a choice with both potential benefits and drawbacks. The positive feedback on the teriyaki shrimp, egg rolls, and generous portions might be appealing. However, the reported issues with the dumplings and fried rice, as well as the lack of a dine-in option and potential for unfriendly service, should also be taken into consideration. Depending on individual preferences and priorities, Great Wall Restaurant could be a satisfactory option for a basic Chinese takeout meal, but customers should manage their expectations regarding service and the consistency of all menu items.

In conclusion, Great Wall Restaurant at 4 Olde Eastwood Village Blvd in Asheville, NC, is a Chinese restaurant that focuses on takeout service. Customer reviews indicate that while some dishes, like the teriyaki shrimp and egg rolls, are well-received and portions are generally plentiful, other items may be less impressive. The service has been described as both friendly and unfriendly by different customers, and there is no dine-in option available. Local users seeking a straightforward Chinese takeout experience in Asheville may find Great Wall Restaurant to be a viable option, but should be aware of the mixed feedback regarding food quality and customer service.

Came here on a holiday when nothing else was open so wasn’t expecting anything crazy. The food much like other reviews kind of says it all. It’s more of a basic get the job done scenario. The dumplings were way over battered and the pork fried rice needed quite often but if seasoning. The staff is friendly there isn’t a dine in option. The egg rolls though were tasty. Cheers!!

I need to preface my review a bit: I lived in Fairview 7 years ago and this was my go to for Chinese at that time. Since I’ve now returned, I was happy to find them still open and decided to give them a try I got the teriyaki shrimp combo plate. It had great flavor, plentiful portions and the shrimp were not salad shrimp like I feared they would be. Big, plump, tasty shrimp. Lots of veggies as well. More than ample rice. The egg roll That came with it was so good I wish I’d gotten two. My only complaint is the lack of customer service. They just are not friendly. Perhaps a language barrier, but even a smile goes a long way.

The food was ok, the pork and the noodles tasted old and doesn't taste good. Need more fresh ingredients, the scallops was chewy in Happy Family, some of the vegetables was not cooked fully. I was disappointed.

Got plain lomein, sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, pork fried rice, annd egg rolls. The lo mein had nice flavor, not too oily or saucy. The Sweet-and-sour chicken was delicious. It had really good batter, the sauce actually tasted like pineapples and not corn syrup,, it wasn’t too oily, And the pieces of chicken are large. The sesame chicken was really good too. The only thing I would say is there was a lot of sauce so it could’ve spilled in my car. The pork fried rice was standard. Four stars because it’s all about the eggrolls. The eggrolls taste tasted previously frozen. Fresh handmade eggrolls are a game changer. All that said, I would order from them again.
