About Great Wall

Located at 2905 North 7th Street in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Great Wall is a Chinese restaurant serving the local community. As part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Great Wall offers a range of familiar Chinese dishes, primarily for takeout and potentially dine-in, based on the available customer reviews. These reviews present a somewhat mixed picture, highlighting both strengths in affordability and certain dishes, as well as weaknesses in the quality of others and the restaurant's décor.

Regarding the environment of Great Wall, one reviewer described it as a "very tasty hidden gem in Harrisburg with good clean Chinese food at good prices," but noted that it "could use more decor." This suggests that while the restaurant may prioritize cleanliness and functionality, the aesthetic appeal might be lacking. The term "hidden gem" implies a focus on the food and value rather than an elaborate ambiance. The fact that this reviewer was "not complaining lol" indicates that the lack of décor was not a significant deterrent for them, especially considering the positive aspects they experienced. The other reviewer, who had previously visited Chinese restaurants in nearby Enola and Duncannon, does not comment on the environment of Great Wall, focusing instead on the food quality and portion sizes. Overall, the limited information suggests a clean but perhaps minimally decorated space, where the emphasis is more on the food and price point.

The services offered at Great Wall likely include takeout, given that both reviewers mention ordering and receiving food. One reviewer specifically compared the portion size to other Chinese restaurants they had visited, implying a takeout order. The mention of a "hidden gem" that is "slept on" might suggest that dine-in service is also available, though perhaps not the primary focus. The quick in-and-out service mentioned in some positive reviews of other Chinese restaurants (though not specifically Great Wall in these reviews) is often a characteristic of establishments that cater heavily to takeout. The availability of a phone number suggests that phone orders are also accepted. To confirm the full range of services, including dine-in and delivery options, direct contact with Great Wall would be necessary.

Several features of Great Wall are highlighted in the customer reviews, both positive and negative. A significant positive feature mentioned by one reviewer is the "good clean Chinese food at good prices." This suggests that Great Wall offers affordable options without compromising on hygiene. The same reviewer also identified "pork lo mein" and "white rice" as being "good." This indicates that at least some of their dishes are well-received and flavorful. The "hidden gem" descriptor also implies a certain level of quality that might be unexpectedly good for the price or location. However, the other reviewer had a much less favorable experience, describing the "sesame chicken" and "general tso" as having "sucked" and the "fried dumplings" as "burnt." This stark contrast highlights a potential inconsistency in the quality of different dishes. The reviewer also noted that the portion size of some items was smaller compared to other Chinese restaurants they had visited, suggesting that while prices might be good, the quantity might be less. The fact that this reviewer was so disappointed that they "laughed because I was surprised it was that bad" underscores the severity of their negative experience with certain menu items.

The two available reviews present a divided opinion of Great Wall. One reviewer found it to be a tasty and affordable hidden gem with good clean food, specifically praising the pork lo mein and white rice. The other reviewer had a significantly negative experience, finding several dishes to be of poor quality, including the sesame chicken, general tso, and fried dumplings, and also noting smaller portion sizes for some items. This discrepancy suggests that the quality of food may be inconsistent across different dishes, or that individual preferences and expectations vary greatly. Local users considering Great Wall should be aware of these mixed reviews and might want to inquire about the preparation of specific dishes or try a few different items to form their own opinion.

Currently, there is no information provided in these reviews about any specific promotional offers or discounts at Great Wall. It is common for Chinese restaurants to offer various promotions to attract customers, such as lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts for certain order amounts. To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at Great Wall, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly via phone at (717) 233-1500 or +1 717-233-1500. Inquiry could also be made about their full menu, operating hours, and whether they offer delivery services in addition to takeout and potential dine-in.

In conclusion, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant in Harrisburg, PA, offers affordable Chinese food and has been described by one reviewer as a "tasty hidden gem" with good clean food, particularly noting the quality of their pork lo mein and white rice. However, another reviewer had a very negative experience, finding the sesame chicken, general tso, and fried dumplings to be poor and noting smaller portion sizes. The environment is described as clean but lacking in décor. Services likely include takeout, and potentially dine-in, with phone orders accepted. Local users considering Great Wall should be aware of these mixed reviews and might want to try specific dishes based on the positive feedback while being cautious of the negative experiences reported with other items. For information on their full menu and any current promotions, direct contact with the restaurant is recommended.

I've been to the Chinese place in enola and duncannon. Decided I'll try this place to see how good it was but I was totally dissapointed. There was less in the container but sometimes that because the quality is better. Not this time. Sesame chicken sucked general toss sucked. Fried dumplings were burnt. Laughed because I was surprised it was that bad. White rice and pork lo mein were good

The fried chicken lacked the crispy texture and savory flavor that it had when it was first prepared. It was reheated. Furthermore, the chicken fried rice was bland and lacked any seasoning or taste. Overall, the meal was disappointing and did not meet expectations. Additional spices or herbs could have been added to enhance the flavor of both dishes and improve the overall dining experience. Also food should be fresh and not a day old.

I will not be going back .... I got "beef" egg fo yun and coconut chicken with white rice. The egg fo yun had literally 3 little pieces of beef in each patty smh .. The Coconut chicken had not even a little bit of sauce .. And I asked for extra duck sauce because I had pork fried rice and 4 egg rolls.. do you know they gave me 3 packs of duck sauce.. This all was just a complete waste of money and time .. Thought I was getting a treat 😔😔
