About Great Wall

Welcome to Great Wall, a Chinese restaurant located at 2650 Ellwood Rd, New Castle, PA 16101, USA. As a local establishment within the "Chinese Restaurant" platform category, Great Wall aims to provide the New Castle community with a variety of Chinese culinary dishes. For those seeking information or wishing to place an order, they can be contacted at (724) 658-1500 or via mobile phone at +1 724-658-1500.

Based on recent customer reviews, it is crucial for potential diners to be aware of overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding the food quality and overall dining experience at Great Wall. Multiple reviewers have expressed extreme dissatisfaction, describing the food as "the absolute worst Chinese food we have ever had" and "by far the worst Chinese place I have ever had the misfortune of eating at." These are strong indictments that suggest significant issues with the cuisine served at this establishment.

A recurring theme in the negative reviews is the complete lack of flavor in multiple dishes. One reviewer stated that "Everything is flavorless and gross," providing a comprehensive condemnation of their entire order, which included four meals priced over $10 each. This suggests a systemic problem with the seasoning and preparation of the food across different menu items. Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, emphatically stating, "NO FLAVOR WHAT SO EVER!" This consistent feedback regarding the tastelessness of the food should be a major concern for anyone considering dining at Great Wall.

Specific dishes came under heavy criticism. The "honey chicken," a popular Chinese-American dish known for its sweet and savory honey-based sauce, was particularly misrepresented according to one reviewer. They noted that the "honey chicken' isn't actually honey chicken like I get everywhere else" and even attached a photo of the sauce. The description of the sauce as something that "looks & tastes like sugar water, I mean literally zero flavor at all and certainly not honey flavor!" paints a picture of a dish that bears no resemblance to the expected sweet and savory profile of honey chicken. This misrepresentation and lack of flavor are significant disappointments for customers.

Another dish that received negative feedback was the Shrimp Lo-Mein. The reviewer who ordered it stated that both the "lo-mein and shrimp had no flavor at all." Lo-mein is typically characterized by flavorful noodles tossed with vegetables and protein in a savory sauce. The description of it lacking any flavor indicates a fundamental flaw in its preparation. The second reviewer also ordered shrimp and chicken lo mein and described it as "nothing but greasy noodles with vegetables and NO sauce," further emphasizing the issue of flavorless and poorly sauced noodle dishes.

Even seemingly basic components of a Chinese meal, such as rice, were criticized. One reviewer found the rice to be "terrible and hard," suggesting it was either undercooked or stale. The chicken fried rice also failed to meet expectations, with the reviewer stating that it did "not look or taste like chicken." This raises concerns about the quality and preparation of even staple dishes at Great Wall.

In addition to the severely lacking food quality, the second reviewer also highlighted issues with excessive grease in their order. They mentioned that their daughter's sweet and sour chicken combo was so greasy that "You could literally squeeze the grease from the chicken and the egg roll." Greasy food is not only unappetizing but also suggests improper cooking techniques or the use of low-quality ingredients. This further contributes to the negative perception of the food at Great Wall.

Beyond the food itself, there is a significant practical consideration for potential customers: Great Wall "only accept cash, so you will not be able to use a card there." In today's predominantly card-using society, a cash-only policy can be inconvenient and may deter many customers who prefer or rely on electronic payment methods. This lack of payment flexibility is an important piece of information for anyone planning to dine at or order from Great Wall.

Both reviewers strongly recommended against patronizing Great Wall. One concluded their review with "I do not recommend this place at all!!" while the other urged readers to "Save yourself money and disappointment and skip this place all together," even suggesting that their $40 order was a complete waste of money that went "straight to the trash can." These unequivocal recommendations to avoid the restaurant underscore the depth of their negative experiences.

Based solely on these two recent and highly critical reviews, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant in New Castle, PA, appears to have significant issues with the flavor and quality of its food, with multiple dishes described as flavorless, greasy, and misrepresented. The honey chicken, shrimp lo mein, and even the rice have been specifically criticized. Additionally, the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis, which may be inconvenient for many customers. The overwhelmingly negative feedback and strong recommendations to avoid the establishment should be taken very seriously by local users considering dining at Great Wall.

There is no positive feedback or information provided in these reviews regarding the environment, services, or any promotional offers at Great Wall. Therefore, it is impossible to offer any positive aspects of the restaurant based on this data. The strong and consistent negative experiences reported by these customers paint a concerning picture of the dining experience offered by Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. Potential customers are advised to consider these serious issues before deciding to patronize this establishment.

The absolute worst Chinese food we have ever had!! Everything is flavorless and gross. We got 4 meals that were over $10 each and all terrible. The "honey chicken" isn't actually honey chicken like I get everywhere else (photo attached of the sauce)... The sauce comes in a container on the side and it looks & tastes like sugar water, I mean literally zero flavor at all and certainly not honey flavor! My Son said the Shrimp Lo-Mein (both lo-mein and shrimp) had no flavor at all as well. Even the rice is terrible and hard and the chicken fried rice doesn't look or taste like chicken. Also, they only accept cash, so you will not be able to use a card there. I do not recommend this place at all!!

This is by far the worst chinese place I have ever had the misfortune of eating at. NO FLAVOR WHAT SO EVER! We ordered shrimp and chicken lo mein, it was nothing but greasy noodles with vegetables and NO sauce. My daughter got a sweet and sour chicken combo. You could literally squeeze the grease from the chicken and the egg roll. The only reason I bothered to order here was because Golden Wok was closed for some reason. Save yourself money and disappointment and skip this place all together. 40 bucks that's going straight to the trash can.

A dingy hole-in-wall that we’ve been eating at for 30 years. The perfect place for a hometown Chinese-American fix

Enjoy the cockroaches after rummaging through the table randomly placed in the restaurant selling used items. You can purchase knives, foreign currency, and for $25, a United States Navy Combat Action Ribbon. Disgusting and will never be back
