About Great Wall Hibachi

Great Wall Hibachi, located at 1077 King St in Charleston, South Carolina, presents itself as a Chinese restaurant with a notable hibachi influence, judging by its name. While the limited customer reviews do not extensively detail the hibachi experience, they offer valuable insights into other aspects of the restaurant, including the quality of certain Chinese dishes, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, the value of their lunch specials, and their services. For local users in Charleston, Great Wall Hibachi appears to be a promising option for both familiar Chinese fare and potentially an engaging hibachi experience.

One reviewer's experience was somewhat mixed but ultimately positive, leading to a 5-star rating based on the enjoyment of their dining companions. This customer ordered steamed rice and steamed vegetables, which they found to be "just ok," attributing the blandness to the lack of oil, which was their preference. This suggests that Great Wall Hibachi is willing to accommodate specific dietary requests, even if the resulting dish might be simpler in flavor. Interestingly, this reviewer highlighted the Mongolian beef with rice as a "standout" dish enjoyed by others in their party. They also found the egg drop soup to be "just ok." A notable point of praise was that the restaurant was open on Christmas, indicating a commitment to serving the community even during holidays, which is a significant convenience for those seeking dining options on such occasions.

Another customer had an overwhelmingly positive experience, describing the food as "amazingggg!" They lauded the friendliness of the staff and the speed of the service, noting that their food was prepared quickly. Furthermore, they highlighted the generous serving sizes relative to the price, strongly recommending the lunch specials as particularly good value. This reviewer also expressed their appreciation for the availability of white sauce, a popular accompaniment in many Chinese-American restaurants. A unique aspect mentioned was the inclusion of pancit on the menu, which they found "absolutely delicious," indicating a broader range of Asian-inspired dishes beyond standard Chinese fare. This customer enthusiastically stated their intention to return in the future, underscoring their satisfaction with the overall experience.

Based on these reviews, the environment of Great Wall Hibachi is not extensively described in terms of decor or ambiance. However, the positive comments about the friendly staff suggest a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. The mention of hibachi in the name implies the presence of hibachi grills, which typically offer a communal and interactive dining experience where food is prepared by a chef at the table. This could be a key feature attracting customers looking for both good food and entertainment. The fact that the restaurant was open on Christmas also suggests a willingness to serve and be accessible to the community.

The services offered by Great Wall Hibachi include both dine-in (implied by the hibachi grills and the reviewer dining with others) and takeout (as one reviewer ordered steamed items, likely for themselves). The fast service mentioned by one customer indicates efficiency in their operations, whether for dine-in or takeout orders. The ability to accommodate specific dietary requests (like steamed vegetables without oil) suggests a degree of flexibility in their kitchen. The availability of lunch specials points to a value-oriented offering during certain hours. The presence of white sauce and pancit on the menu indicates a willingness to cater to diverse tastes and potentially offer dishes beyond the typical Chinese-American restaurant fare.

The standout features of Great Wall Hibachi appear to be the potentially entertaining hibachi dining experience (though not directly reviewed), the highly praised Mongolian beef, the friendly and efficient service, the value-for-money lunch specials with generous portions, and the availability of popular sauces like white sauce, as well as unique items like pancit. The willingness to be open on Christmas also sets them apart as a reliable option during holidays.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews. Customers focus on their direct experiences with the food, service, and value. For local users in Charleston, South Carolina, Great Wall Hibachi seems to offer a compelling combination of tasty food, friendly service, and good value, particularly through their lunch specials. The potential for an entertaining hibachi dining experience adds another layer of appeal. The positive remarks about the Mongolian beef suggest it is a must-try dish. The fast service makes it a convenient option for those on a tight schedule. The availability of white sauce and the unique addition of pancit indicate a diverse menu that might cater to a wide range of preferences. The fact that they are open on Christmas also makes them a reliable choice during the holiday season.

In conclusion, Great Wall Hibachi in Charleston offers more than just standard Chinese cuisine, with the promise of an engaging hibachi experience. Customers have praised the delicious Mongolian beef, the friendly and fast service, and the excellent value of their lunch specials. The availability of white sauce and pancit further broadens their appeal. While mine was just ok, everyone else loved their food, hence the 5-star review. I ordered steamed rice and steamed vegetables, hence bland. But without oil, how I like it. The Mongolian beef with rice seemed to be a standout. Eggdrop soup just ok too. & 5 stars for being open on Christmas too.

This food is amazingggg! The staff were friendly and they made my food fast! Not to mention it was a great serving size for a great price! Highly recommend getting a lunch special. You can’t beat that price for the food included and the amount you get. Also they have white sauce 🤌🤌 I love that they have pancit too! It was absolutely delicious. I will be coming back in the future!

Ordered from Doordash. Do not order from Doordash from this restaurant as they use their own drivers. I waited an hour with my order 'awaiting collection'. Eventually I called the restaurant directly to ask 'where is my order please?' 'We've made your order' 'Yes, I know, but its of no use to me sat on your counter' 'We've made your order' 'Yes, I know. When will I get it?' 'Our driver will bring' I waited another 15 minutes and cancelled, losing $10. And...the food then appeared. Well done to them for getting it to me. But do not order the Singapore noodles - only my ravenous hunger led me to eat some of it. It was a truly awful dish.

Service is great and food came out quick. Didn’t know that I had to add veggies to my fried rice for it to come with veggies. It still tasted real good!

Found my spot! I’ve been in Charleston for a little over four years and haven’t been able to find the Chinese food/taste that I’ve been long for, but Great Wall hit the spot! The egg roll was amazing, the rice and chicken were really good.. The egg drop soup wasn’t the best but I’ll definitely be ordering again. Thank you!!
