About Great Wall Chinese Restaurant

Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant located at 607 Peters Creek Pkwy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Serving the local community, they can be contacted at (336) 721-0777 or their mobile number +1 336-721-0777 for inquiries about their menu, services, or to place orders. As a Chinese restaurant in Winston-Salem, Great Wall likely offers a variety of traditional Chinese dishes for dine-in, takeout, and potentially delivery to cater to different customer preferences.

Recent customer reviews of Great Wall Chinese Restaurant present a mixed but informative perspective. One customer, who generally does not have a strong preference for Chinese food, made an exception for the egg rolls at Great Wall. They described these egg rolls as "the best" they had ever tasted, highlighting their light and crispy texture without being greasy, and praising the moist and flavorful filling. This positive feedback suggests that Great Wall Chinese Restaurant excels in at least one of its offerings, potentially making their egg rolls a standout item worth trying.

However, another review from a self-identified regular customer shared a significantly negative experience. This customer recounted an incident involving their shrimp order, which they described as "old and black" with a bad smell. This indicates a serious issue with the freshness and quality of at least one of the seafood dishes served at the restaurant. The reviewer further detailed their attempt to address this issue with the restaurant management. According to their account, when they called a week later to inquire about fresh shrimp and complain about their previous experience, they were met with disbelief and a lack of resolution. This suggests potential issues with customer service and the restaurant's willingness to acknowledge and rectify problems with food quality.

Adding to the negative aspects of this second review, the customer mentioned a change in the front-of-house staff, noting the arrival of a "polite register person." While this could be seen as a positive development, it was overshadowed by other concerns. The reviewer expressed discomfort and a sense of being harassed by "homeless and junkies" who reportedly stop customers at the door of the establishment. This paints a concerning picture of the restaurant's immediate surroundings and the potential environment for customers entering or leaving. Furthermore, the reviewer stated that they were "called a liar" during their attempt to address the issue with the bad shrimp. This serious accusation indicates a breakdown in trust and communication between the restaurant and a regular customer, ultimately leading to their decision to cease doing business with Great Wall Chinese Restaurant.

Considering these two reviews, it is evident that while Great Wall Chinese Restaurant may have some commendable dishes, such as the highly praised egg rolls, there are also significant concerns regarding the quality of other items, specifically seafood, and potential issues with customer service and the immediate environment of the restaurant. The stark contrast between the positive experience with the egg rolls and the very negative experience with the shrimp and subsequent interaction with the restaurant highlights the inconsistency that some customers may encounter.

For local users in Winston-Salem considering Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, the feedback suggests a need for caution. While the egg rolls might be a noteworthy item, the reported issue with old shrimp and the unhelpful response from management are serious red flags regarding food quality control and customer service. Additionally, the concerning description of the environment outside the restaurant, with encounters with homeless individuals, could impact the overall dining experience for some patrons.

The available information does not provide details about the restaurant's interior environment, such as its decor or ambiance. The services offered appear to include takeout and potentially delivery, in addition to dine-in, although this is inferred rather than explicitly stated. Features of the restaurant, such as specific signature dishes beyond the egg rolls, or any promotional offers, are not mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, a comprehensive introduction covering all aspects of the restaurant is limited by the content of the customer feedback.

In conclusion, Great Wall Chinese Restaurant in Winston-Salem has received both high praise for its egg rolls and serious criticism regarding the freshness of its seafood and its customer service. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the environment immediately surrounding the restaurant. Local users should weigh these factors carefully when considering dining at or ordering from Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. While some aspects, like the egg rolls, may be appealing, potential issues with food quality for other items and the described environment warrant consideration.

I don't care much for Chinese food but my Mom loves it, so we ordered in one wknd and I got two egg rolls which I do eat bcuz I love cabbage 😂. These were the best egg rolls I had tasted. They were light and crispy w/o being greasy. And very moist and flavorful inside. I thoroughly njoyed em!!

Regular here but had one experience with their shrimp being old and black and smelled bad. Called to ask if they had fresh after a week and complained but was told nothing could be done and they did not believe their food was bad. They finally got a polite register person but with all the homeless and junkies that stop you at the door and being called a liar i will no longer be doing business here.

I love the fact that their cooking in your presence and cleanliness, panhandle are around but it's nothing wrong with them being polite, yes, they beg I just say no, because I don't wanna feed a habit, I'm a feminine woman, but I can't see any reasons for dramatics, I just praise God it isn't me..pray for them!

Better than most low end “American Chinese” take out joints. Excellent boneless ribs, outstanding fried dumplings, better than average Generally Tso's, beef does not seem predigested. The problem is they are afraid to chase off the aggressive panhandlers, who gallantly hold the door for your wife while giving you their order. Then they come inside and hassle you if you didn't buy food for them. The staff apologizes profusely but says they can't stop it, “If we call the cops the beggars scream and swear and make a scene, then the cops don't do anything even if they do show up.” It's an uncomfortable situation all around. Knowing the score, I will call in an order to be ready to grab and go-- I will NEVER bring my wife in there again! (I'm not afraid for her, I thought she was gonna rip that guy a new one and get US arrested. )
