About Great Wall Chinese Restaurant

Welcome to Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, located at 814 Midland Ave, Midland, PA 15059, USA. As a local Chinese restaurant, Great Wall offers a menu of Chinese cuisine for potential dine-in and carry-out customers. You can contact them at (724) 643-4547 or their mobile number +1 724-643-4547 for inquiries or to place an order.

Information regarding the specific environment and ambiance of Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is limited in the provided customer reviews. One older review from August suggests a functional setting, implying that it might be a convenient option when not wanting to cook at home. The reviewer mentioned getting "exactly what you are paying for" and described the food as "good when it's too hot to cook indoors or if you're feeling lazy." This indicates a no-frills environment focused on providing a quick and convenient meal solution.

As a Chinese restaurant, Great Wall offers a range of typical Chinese dishes. One customer mentioned regularly ordering the General Tso's chicken with hot and sour soup. General Tso's chicken is a popular dish featuring fried chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce, often served with rice. Hot and sour soup is another common offering, known for its savory, spicy, and tangy flavor profile, typically containing ingredients like eggs, tofu, and bamboo shoots.

However, recent customer reviews raise significant concerns about the food quality and food safety practices at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. One customer recounted a disturbing experience with spoiled hot and sour soup, stating that the eggs had gone bad, and the soup appeared to have been cooked and reheated multiple times. Despite informing the restaurant about the issue, the staff reportedly insisted the soup was not spoiled. This incident raises serious questions about the restaurant's adherence to basic food safety rules.

Another very recent review expressed extreme dissatisfaction, stating, "I wouldn't even give this place 1 star but i had to for this review to go in." This customer alleged that the pork (or the meat they received) was "rotten." They also reported finding "un cleaned shrimp" with the "green poopy stuff" visible after the coating came off. Furthermore, they described the taste of everything else as "very generic." This review strongly suggests a severe decline in the restaurant's standards and significant issues with the quality and freshness of their ingredients and food preparation.

Despite the alarming negative feedback regarding food quality and safety, one older review from August did mention some positive aspects of the service. The reviewer noted that pickup orders were "always ready within 10 minutes" and delivery times were also quick, "20 minutes at the most." The staff was described as "friendly and helpful," which was cited as a reason for continuing to order from them for a quick meal at that time. However, this same reviewer explicitly stated in their updated comment that they "do not recommend going here anymore," indicating that their positive past experiences have been overshadowed by more recent negative ones, presumably aligning with the food safety concerns raised in the other review.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. Given the serious concerns raised in the recent customer reviews about food quality and safety, it is difficult to assess any potential features that might attract customers. The negative feedback heavily outweighs the previously reported positive aspects of speed and staff friendliness.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for Great Wall Chinese Restaurant in Midland, PA, paint a concerning picture regarding food quality and safety. Allegations of spoiled soup and rotten meat, along with unclean ingredients, are serious issues that potential customers should be aware of. While an older review mentioned quick service and friendly staff, the more recent feedback strongly advises against eating at this establishment due to these significant concerns. Without any positive recent feedback or information about improved standards or promotional offers, it is challenging to recommend Great Wall Chinese Restaurant at this time. Potential customers should carefully consider the serious allegations made in the recent reviews before deciding to dine at or order from this restaurant.

Well, I'm never eating here again. I always order the same, general tsaos chicken with hot and sour soup. Well, to my surprise the soup was spoiled last time I ate here. I took a bite and had to spit it out immediately as the eggs had gone bad. After taking a good look at the soup, it was darker in color and the ingredients seemed to be smaller, like they had been cooked and re-cooked. I called and told them not to give that soup to anyone else and they insisted the soup was not spoiled. They did send the delivery man back to my house to reimburse me the $2 for the soup, but he continued to insist that it was simply the way the soup tasted... uh, no, it isn't. I love hot and sour soup and have had it numerous times before and since, and it has never tasted like that. I haven't eaten here since. My question is, how many times did that soup, made with vinegar, have to me heated and reheated for it to go bad? They obviously aren't following basic food safety rules here. As nice as the staff is here, I won't ever take a chance eating here again. This is my review from August, though I do not recommend going here anymore: "You get exactly what you are paying for. Food isn't awesome, but good when it's too hot to cook indoors or if you're feeling lazy. Dinner for two is usually between $25 and $30. Make sure you ask if menu ingredients come with everything on the pictures, for example the general tso chicken will not have broccoli unless you ask for it, even though there is brocolli in the picture at the resteraunt. Pickup food is always ready within 10 minutes and delivery times are quick as well, 20 minutes at the most. Staff are friendly and helpful, which is why I still order from them for a quick bite."

I wouldn't even give this place 1 star but i had to for this review to go in. Pork ( or whatever that meat was) was rotten, no joke ROTTEN MEAT. All the coating came off the shrimp to reveal un cleaned shrimp. ( the green poopy stuff) everything else was just very generic tasting. Maybe at one time this restaurant was good but there standards have gone WAY down.
