About Great Wall Chinese Restaurant

Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is located at 5855 Madison Ave in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, it aims to provide a range of Chinese cuisine options for the community. However, recent customer feedback available online presents a critical perspective on the dining experience at this location.

Several reviewers have expressed significant dissatisfaction with the quality of the food served at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. One customer specifically detailed their experience with the beef lo mein, stating that despite its appealing appearance, the dish was excessively oily to the point of being difficult to eat. They described the beef as slimy and thin, leading to overall disappointment. This reviewer also ordered a pork roll, which they found underwhelming and bland, lacking any discernible flavor. Furthermore, they noted that the food was served at an excessively hot temperature, which, in combination with the oiliness, negatively impacted their ability to enjoy the meal. This customer concluded their review by stating they would not patronize the restaurant again.

Another review echoed the issue of excessive grease in the food. This customer attempted to absorb the oil using multiple napkins, but without success. Ultimately, they reported giving up and leaving the restaurant still feeling hungry, highlighting a significant problem with the preparation of at least one of their dishes.

A third customer review focused on a chicken dish, describing the chicken as "soggy and disgusting." This individual also mentioned the absence of broccoli, which they might have expected as part of the dish. The only item they found palatable was the rice, leading them to strongly advise others against dining at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant based on their negative experience.

Based on these recent customer reviews, there are notable concerns regarding the food quality at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant. Issues such as excessive oiliness, unpleasant texture of the meat, lack of flavor, and unsatisfactory preparation of dishes like chicken have been reported. These reviews suggest potential inconsistencies in the kitchen that may impact the overall dining experience.

Information regarding the environment and services at Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is limited in the provided reviews. Customers primarily focused on the food quality in their feedback. Therefore, it is difficult to provide a detailed description of the restaurant's ambiance, cleanliness, or the attentiveness of the staff based solely on this information. The lack of positive comments regarding these aspects, in contrast to the strong negative feedback about the food, might suggest that these were not particularly noteworthy or did not outweigh the dissatisfaction with the meals.

Similarly, there is no mention of any specific features or promotional information for Great Wall Chinese Restaurant in the provided customer reviews. It is unknown whether the restaurant offers any specials, discounts, or unique aspects that might attract customers. Given the critical nature of the recent feedback, it is possible that any positive features were overshadowed by the negative experiences with the food.

In conclusion, the recent online reviews for Great Wall Chinese Restaurant at 5855 Madison Ave in Indianapolis paint a concerning picture regarding the quality of their food. Multiple customers have reported issues with excessive oiliness, poor texture of ingredients, lack of flavor, and overall unsatisfactory preparation of dishes such as beef lo mein, pork roll, and chicken. As good as this beef lo Mein looks, it is far from it. It was drenched in oil; I could barely stomach it. The beef was slimy and thin. I was disappointed; I also ordered a pork roll and was underwhelmed. The food was too hot to eat; that oil does something to you. The pork roll had no flavor, just bland. I will never spend my money here again 😓 Napkins trying to get some grease off but no luck after 6 napkins. I gave up and a stomach still empty.

We ordered Mongolian Beef and General Tso Chicken, the Beef AND Chicken was raw in the middle!!! We called them to tell them and they hung up on us, so we called them back again and they was very rude. They kept telling us that the chicken is supposed to be pink in the middle and not white???? They wouldn’t refund us our money back, so we just lost out on over $50 because they don’t know how to cook their food properly and want to be rude to costumers.

We ordered over $50 dollars worth of food here tonight 5/20/2024. The experience was terrible. Everything had a burnt taste. The oil clearly had not been changed for a while. The eggrolls were brown on the outside almost too brown, but the inside was raw/Luke warm. We have eaten here numerous times, and know what an eggroll is usually like from here...or any Chinese restaurant. The chicken on a stick was burnt, and the spring rolls were the same as the eggrolls. The general tso chicken....same way. I called to let them know that we were not happy and was told that no one else complained and then I was hung up on. I will never give them another dime! They lost a good customer tonight. Instead of apologizing, making it right. Replacing meal after replacing oil, or giving us a credit.....something!!!! Small businesses struggle enough, but with that attitude I can understand why.

I had placed an order for 2 House special lo mein and one house special chow mein one roast pork egg foo young and one General Tso's chicken. Unfortunately by the time I got home I found out that my chow mein is some kind of soupy base with no noodles in it whatsoever. I called Great Wall and spoke to a gentleman who pretty much argue with me the whole time on why I would order two lo mein and a chow mein since they're practically the same thing. I had told him that I wanted to try out the difference between the lo mein and the chow mein and he kept on arguing with me so I just practically hung up. Here's the picture of the chow mein. The lo mein was flavorless and watery. Never coming back horrible service. Does that picture look like chow me in to you? There was NO NOODLE whatsoever.
