When choosing a local Chinese restaurant, potential customers often consider aspects such as the quality of the food, the service provided, the ambiance of the establishment, and the overall dining experience. Based on recent customer feedback available online, experiences at Great China appear to be varied. One customer shared a very positive experience, highlighting the restaurant's willingness to accommodate late arrivals. They arrived just as the "Open" sign was being turned off but were still welcomed to order. This customer praised the quick service, the hot and delicious food, and expressed gratitude for the special touch of customer service shown by the staff for staying open a few extra minutes. This review suggests that Great China values its customers and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure satisfaction.
However, another customer reported a significantly negative experience after ordering from Great China on a Sunday night, noting that it was one of the few places open. This reviewer stated that the food was "terrible" and resulted in them becoming very sick, experiencing severe gastrointestinal distress. They described the food as "unappetizing" and of poor quality. This customer expressed concern about the kitchen's cleanliness and food safety practices, suggesting that these aspects should be examined to prevent similar incidents.
These contrasting reviews present a mixed picture for potential diners. The positive review emphasizes excellent customer service and satisfactory food for one particular experience, while the negative review raises serious concerns about food quality and safety in another instance. Local users in Raleigh considering Great China should be aware of these differing opinions when making their dining decisions.
As a Chinese restaurant, Great China likely offers typical services associated with this category. These usually include dine-in options, where customers can enjoy their meals in the restaurant's environment, as well as takeout services for those who prefer to eat their food elsewhere. Delivery services might also be available, although this is not explicitly mentioned in the provided feedback. The environment of the restaurant, such as its decor, cleanliness (apart from the concern raised in the negative review), and overall atmosphere, can contribute to the dining experience. The positive review suggests a welcoming attitude from the staff, which can enhance the environment from a customer service perspective.
Features that often attract customers to a Chinese restaurant include a diverse menu with a variety of popular dishes, perhaps some house specialties, or unique culinary styles. The positive review mentioned the food being "hot and delicious," implying that standard dishes were prepared well on that occasion. However, without more details about the menu or specific dishes, it is difficult to identify any unique features of Great China's offerings. The willingness to accommodate late customers could be considered a feature of their service approach. Conversely, the negative review points to a potential lack of consistent quality, which would be a significant negative feature.
Promotional information for a restaurant typically aims to attract new customers and encourage repeat business. This can include special offers on certain days, lunch menus with discounted prices, family meal deals, or seasonal promotions. The provided customer reviews do not contain any information about specific promotions offered by Great China. Local users interested in any potential deals or special offers might want to check the restaurant's website if available, look for local advertisements, or inquire directly when contacting the restaurant.
For local users in Raleigh seeking a Chinese restaurant, Great China presents a situation where recent customer experiences have been quite different. The positive account highlights good food and exceptional customer service in one instance, suggesting a potential for a pleasant dining experience. However, the serious concerns raised in the negative review regarding food quality and safety cannot be ignored. Potential customers should consider these contrasting viewpoints and perhaps exercise caution. It might be prudent to inquire about food preparation and hygiene practices if considering ordering from or dining at Great China.
Given the stark contrast in the provided feedback, it is challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of Great China. While the positive review is encouraging, the severity of the issues raised in the negative review warrants careful consideration. Local diners might find it helpful to look for additional reviews or information from other sources to get a broader perspective on the restaurant's consistency and quality. Alternatively, a cautious approach might involve ordering a simple meal initially to assess the current standards of food preparation and quality.
In conclusion, Great China, located at 7851 Alexander Prom Pl #100 in Raleigh, NC, is a Chinese restaurant that has received both positive and negative feedback from recent customers. While one review praised the delicious food and exceptional customer service, another reported a severe case of foodborne illness due to what they described as terrible and unappetizing food of poor quality. Local users should carefully consider these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to patronize Great China and may want to seek further information or exercise caution.

We were looking for something different than our normal offerings but we waited late before going out. We arrived just in time to see the "Open" sign go out but there were people standing inside. My sister walked toward the door and a worker asked if we wanted to order and we happily said yes. They were quick and the food was hot and delicious! Thanks for staying open 10 more minutes to accommodate us Great China! We appreciate that special touch of customer service.
I’m writing this review reluctantly because the other night I ordered from here, and it was one of the few places open on a Sunday night. Unfortunately, the food was terrible, and I ended up getting very sick. I had to rush to the bathroom at least five or six times, and it was the only thing I had eaten. The food was unappetizing and not of good quality. I think someone should look into the kitchen to ensure proper cleaning and food safety practices are being followed.
This was the best Chinese food I have ever had. We ordered pork dumplings, seseme chicken, sweet and sour chicken/shrimp, pork egg rolls, shrimp egg rolls, and their lo mein. Everything was yummy. If you are looking for the best Chinese food in the area, come here.
My first time here.... So I tried the nearby Panda Wok yesterday and the Sesame Chicken was better at Great China today. The fry batter was better at PW though. Here, the fried coating on it was pretty much instantly turned to mush. And I dined in, so there wasn't any time for it to be good, crispy batter and then turn bad. Because of the instantly soggy breading, I doubt I'll ever get this entree again. But, that was the only bad news. The PW chicken was heavily freezer burned, while this was not. It was tender enough and not gristle-y. The sauce tasted nice, and the fried rice.. it was pretty standard, but I did like it better than Panda. Portion size was very generous. I'm a big guy and I went in hungry, and I could have easily have stopped with a half eaten entree and side and been satisfied. With half a dozen tables, and a floor layout that goes long instead of wide, it feels pretty cramped. But I expect that most that come here are for the take-out. Staff was friendly. Food was not made fast, but was reasonable enough for me not to complain. Yes, this is one of those usual Chines places that has the faded lit up pictures of the entrees up in the menu area. That same one page paper menu with a zillion types of similar dishes. I do plan on returning to try some more of their stuff. As a plus, as of 2020/3/17, Coldstone Creamery is a 40 ft walk away ... for dessert!
I ordered shrimp lo mein, house special lo mein and Mongolian beef Combination that came with pork fried rice, and an egg roll. The Mongolian beef had absolutely no flavor. It was just dry meat and onions In a tasteless sauce. The house special lo mein is normally good. It was just OK and the shrimp lo mein was bland. I normally don’t even do reviews, but I spent $40 for food that was not restaurant quality.
