The BEST crispy, spicy, garlic eggplant!! Their little twist on this classic dish is delicious and so special! Pan fried pork buns are super fluffy and the you tiao shrimp (fried dough around shrimp paste) is also super tasty. Service is a little slow but the restaurant interior is gorgeous too!

Grandma’s Home does a great job of making authentic Chinese food approachable in a cozy yet modern atmosphere. The interior and design of the restaurant are very well thought out with authentic touches from China and good acoustics for conversations (even during peak times). I forget the name of our server but she was lovely along with the hosts at the front. Every item on the menu is equal or better than the flavors you would get in a hole-in-the-wall spot in Chinatown. If not familiar of how to order, I’d suggest to work with your server so you get a well-balanced meal. Reasonably priced delicious food in a fun atmosphere… Definitely will be back!

Good Chinese food. Tasted very clean and aesthetically pleasing. - enjoyed the appetizers, especially the Baos that were crispy on the bottom but soft on the top. Pass on the soup dumpling XLBs as there are better - the chicken in broth was excellent and mixed very well with rice - loved the mapo tofu, green beans, and spicy fried chicken - dessert all of them were good. I enjoyed the hot sesame balls the most Overall excellent Chinese food in flat iron. Service was good although the servers seemed newer in profession.

Absolutely my favorite restaurant now! Hubby and I have been three times and each time has been amazing! The decor and artwork inside is beautiful and the food is incredibly delicious! Definitely try the "Kung Pao Shrimp" - your taste buds will go wild! and the "Crispy Skin Chicken"...oh my God, the best! Also try their cocktail called "West Lake Potion" - totally different than any other cocktail with an interestingly good taste 👌🏽. On our last visit, we were served complimentary dishes: Vegetable Spring Rolls and I believe some type of Zucchini with a mouth-watering glaze! Our waitress Estefanie (sorry if I misspelled) has been our waitress each time and she's super nice along with all the other staff. Bathrooms are clean and each stall has its own private door with a sink inside. Surprisingly, we never had a problem finding parking. Five stars all the way!

Summary first: avoid this restaurant if you expect nice food. If you are looking for a quiet uncrowded place to take a rest and don't want to go to a cafe, this place might fit your needs. Bottom line is this is definitely not a restaurant offering su-hang style food. Now the details. You can see the menu is very simple. Even though they offer a few signature dishes, the total variety is very limited. Many dishes are actually not representable in the region that the restaurant would like to represent. Even during the peak lunch hours, there were only about 8 tables with customers. We ordered four: 1. Lotus root with sticky rice: this is an appetizer/small dish. It is supposed to be very well steamed such that the lotus root will be soft to eat. It should come with osmanthus syrup and be served cool or cold. What was served in the restaurant is warm, dry and mildly sweet. It was premade probably not on the same day. They just reheated it, dropped some syrup and took it to the table. So that's why it was dry and became a warm dish. The sticky rice filling is not that sticky as well. Not recommended. 2. Pan seared pork buns. This is not freshly hand made as can be told from the texture of the bun skin. It's more like the prepackaged microwave reheatable buns that you can get from any grocery store. The black sesame and green onions are not spread while cooking (or reheating to be more precise) the buns as the onions are completely raw when served. Definitely not recommended. 3. Loofah melon in broth. The broth tasted like it was made with broth powder. The loofah is not fresh as some are a little bitter. There are about 16 dried shrimps which are not very well soaked before cooking. So they can be a bit challenging for your teeth to chew. 4. Sweet and sour pork. The coating over the meat is not even. The meat is fried overly so they are dry and not juicy. The green onions are raw again which means once the dish was cooked the cook didn't spread the onions on time so the remaining heat of the dish dissipated and not enough to heat up the onions. Order it only if you want some sweet meat to eat. BTW,the meat is not tenderloin as mentioned on the menu by its Chinese name.
