About Grand Wok

Located at 15810 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Shawnee, KS 66217, USA, Grand Wok operates as a Chinese restaurant within the competitive "Chinese Restaurant" category. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of Grand Wok, integrating details about its environment, services, notable features, and promotional aspects, all based on available customer feedback and general information about such establishments.

As a Chinese restaurant, Grand Wok primarily offers a range of prepared Chinese dishes. Typically, establishments in this category provide options for both dine-in and takeout, catering to various customer preferences. Grand Wok is described as a "Compact strip-mall option offering a classic range of Chinese fare for dine-in, takeout or delivery," indicating its accessibility and convenience for local patrons. While specific details about the interior decor aren't extensively provided, a "casual and quiet ambiance" is mentioned in external information, suggesting a comfortable setting suitable for family meals or a quick lunch. The focus for many Chinese restaurants in this format is often on efficient service and providing a satisfying meal, whether consumed on-site or at home.

The menu at Grand Wok is expected to feature a classic array of Chinese dishes. Customer reviews specifically highlight several popular items. One reviewer raved about the **combination rice**, describing it as "delicious plenty of shrimp, beef, & chicken," indicating generous portions and a satisfying mix of ingredients. Another customer enthusiastically praised the **steamed and fried dumplings**, exclaiming "OMG so yummy," and also loved the **egg rolls**, finding them "amazing." The **General Tso's chicken** also received positive mention, with the customer appreciating that "the chicken wasn’t smothered with vegetables like other nearby restaurants," suggesting a preparation style that might appeal to those who prefer more meat in their dish. These specific call-outs indicate that Grand Wok excels in preparing certain traditional Chinese favorites, making them standout items on their menu.

The service aspect at Grand Wok elicits mixed feedback. One customer had a very positive experience with the lady at the counter, noting her "good at taking our order" and explaining "what ingredients are in the combination rice." This suggests helpful and informative staff. Another reviewer explicitly stated, "Amazing welcoming atmosphere, with a friendly professional service. Lady at counter was on her A game, made sure we was well taken care of!" This consistently positive feedback about the counter service points to a strong point for Grand Wok, where staff are attentive and professional, contributing significantly to a welcoming customer experience. External information also reiterates "attentive service and a reputation for excellence," confirming this aspect. The restaurant accepts credit cards, adding to customer convenience.

However, one review presented a concerning experience regarding service and atmosphere. The customer, who was with their daughter, asked for duck sauce and was initially given only three packs, having to ask for more. While this is a minor detail, it contributed to a two-star service rating. More significantly, the reviewer gave a one-star rating for atmosphere, stating, "me & my Daughter was stared at like we were in the wrong establishment of course we were the only African Americans in the building." This feedback raises serious concerns about the inclusivity and welcoming nature of the dining environment for all patrons, despite the positive comments from other reviewers about a "welcoming atmosphere." This is a critical point that potential customers, especially those from diverse backgrounds, should be aware of when considering dining in at Grand Wok.

Regarding quantity and value, one reviewer noted, "you get plenty food for your money," which is a significant feature for many Chinese restaurants. This suggests that Grand Wok offers generous portion sizes, providing good value to customers. The mention of "reasonable prices" in external information further supports this. The positive reception of dishes like Shrimp Lo Mein (often requested with extra spice), General's Chicken, and Crab Rangoon also indicates a strong culinary appeal that draws customers back.

The contact information for Grand Wok, including phone at (913) 268-8668 and mobile at +1 913-268-8668, provides easy access for customers to place takeout orders or inquire about menu items. While specific promotional information is not detailed in the provided reviews, the combination of generous portions and "reasonable prices" can be considered a form of promotional value. Many Chinese restaurants rely on offering satisfying meals at affordable rates to attract and retain customers. The location at 15810 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Shawnee, KS 66217, USA, places Grand Wok in a local commercial area, making it a convenient stop for residents. The general features of Grand Wok include a classic Chinese menu, praised items like combination rice and dumplings, and a strong front-of-house service in terms of taking orders and being welcoming. However, the serious concern about the atmosphere and perceived discomfort for certain patrons is a significant factor for future customers to consider when choosing to dine in.

Me & my Daughter went to Twisted Sugar we didn't realize there was an Asian Restaurant next door we decided to stop in. The lady at the register was good at taking our order she explained what ingredients are in the combination rice. Once we ordered our food we went to Twisted Sugar while our food was being prepared, went back to pick up our food. The reason I gave 2 stars for service I asked for duck sauce I was given 3 packs & had to ask for more duck sauce. The reason for one star for atmosphere is me & my Daughter was stared at like we were in the wrong establishment of course we were the only African Americans in the building. Now to the food, you get plenty food for your money, the combination rice is delicious plenty of shrimp, beef, & chicken.

Stop in today for my 1st ever visit. Amazing welcoming atmosphere, with a friendly professional service. Lady at counter was on her A game, made sure we was well taken care of! Probably now one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Got stemmed and fried dumplings, OMG so yummy. Also had the egg-roles my favorite tasted amazing, had the general Taos chicken with rice loved how the chicken wasn’t smothered with vegetables like other nearby restaurants… A++ highly recommended!

Stopped for lunch after church. Wasn't too busy so service was great. Seated right away and took drink orders. We both had a lunch special. Comes with white or fried rice, soup (egg drop or hot and sour), crab Rangoon or egg roll, plus entree. Wife had beef with green pepper, fried rice, egg roll and egg drop soup. I had orange chicken, fried rice, Rangoon, hot and sour soup. Soup served first. Egg drop had lots flavor and was piping hot. Hot and sour was delicious and spicy. Fresh fried noodles were served for garnish. Entree arrived just as we finished the soup. Used dishes were cleared and drinks refreshed. The food looked appealing and the taste did not disappoint. The orange chicken was spicy and sweet. Really good! Wife wouldn't share her beef and peppers but she ate it all. The lunch potions are the right size and the price is fair. We got out for less than $20. Try that at any of the buger places now!!!
