About Grand Panda

Grand Panda, located at 23802 Lyons Ave in Newhall, CA 91321, USA, is a Chinese restaurant serving the local Santa Clarita community. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Grand Panda offers a range of Chinese cuisine options for dine-in and takeout. Customers can contact the restaurant at (661) 253-1898 or via mobile phone at +1 661-253-1898 for inquiries, reservations, or to place orders.

As a Chinese restaurant, Grand Panda likely features a diverse menu encompassing various traditional and American-Chinese dishes. Based on customer reviews, their offerings include popular items such as wontons, paper chicken, orange chicken, and Mongolian beef. One reviewer also mentioned the House Egg Foo Young and Tempura Shrimp. Chinese restaurants typically provide a selection of appetizers, soups, rice and noodle dishes, and a variety of entrees featuring different meats, seafood, and vegetables, prepared with distinct Chinese sauces and culinary techniques. Grand Panda's menu appears to offer a broader selection than a typical Panda Express, suggesting a more extensive range of choices for its patrons. To get a comprehensive understanding of their menu, it is recommended to contact the restaurant directly or check if they have an online menu available.

The services provided by Grand Panda likely include both dine-in and takeout options. The positive reviews suggest a welcoming environment for dining at the restaurant, with mentions of friendly staff and great portions, implying a comfortable dine-in experience. Takeout service is also undoubtedly available, allowing customers to enjoy their meals at home or other locations. While delivery service is not explicitly mentioned, it is a common offering for many restaurants today, so it would be beneficial to inquire directly with Grand Panda to confirm if they provide delivery and to what areas.

The environment of Grand Panda seems to be a notable aspect, particularly given its historical connection to Panda Express. According to one reviewer, this location is where the Panda Express chain originated, suggesting a potentially more traditional or original approach to their food and possibly a unique ambiance. The mention of friendly staff contributes to a positive perception of the dining environment. While specific details about the décor and atmosphere are not provided, the fact that a regular customer brings groups of at least five people indicates that the space is likely accommodating for larger parties. The overall environment appears to be conducive to a pleasant dining experience, encouraging repeat visits.

Features of Grand Panda highlighted in the customer reviews include the quality and selection of food, the generous portion sizes, and the friendly staff. One reviewer explicitly states that the food is "much better here" than at Panda Express and that there is a "much larger selection." This suggests that Grand Panda distinguishes itself by offering higher quality ingredients and a broader variety of dishes compared to its more widely known counterpart. The consistently mentioned "great portions" indicate that customers feel they receive good value for their money and are unlikely to leave hungry. The "friendly staff" is another recurring positive feature, contributing to a welcoming and pleasant dining experience.

However, it is important to consider all feedback. One reviewer expressed extreme disappointment with the food, stating that it did not meet their expectations of "good Chinese food," especially for their first experience in the Santa Clarita area. They specifically criticized the House Egg Foo Young, Mongolian Beef, and Tempura Shrimp. While they acknowledged that the service was "great, quick and kind," the poor quality of the food led them to conclude that they would not return. This review highlights a significant discrepancy in customer experiences, suggesting that food quality might be inconsistent or that individual preferences vary greatly.

The reference to Grand Panda being the original Panda Express location is a unique feature that could attract customers interested in the history of the popular chain and potentially a more authentic or original taste. This historical connection, combined with the claims of better food quality and larger selection compared to Panda Express, could be a significant draw for local users.

Promotional information for Grand Panda is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Chinese restaurants often offer various promotions to attract customers, such as lunch specials, family meal deals, or discounts on certain days or for specific order amounts. To learn about any current promotions or special offers at Grand Panda, it would be best to check their website or social media pages if they have them, inquire when calling to place an order, or look for local advertisements or online listings that might mention ongoing deals.

In conclusion, Grand Panda in Newhall, CA, is a Chinese restaurant with a notable history as the potential origin of the Panda Express chain. Positive reviews highlight the better food quality and larger selection compared to Panda Express, along with friendly staff and generous portions. These aspects suggest a potentially rewarding dining experience. However, a contrasting negative review expresses significant dissatisfaction with the food quality of several dishes, despite acknowledging good service. This mixed feedback indicates that while many customers have positive experiences, there might be inconsistencies in food quality or that individual tastes vary considerably. Local users considering Grand Panda should weigh these perspectives and perhaps try the restaurant to form their own opinion, especially those interested in a potentially more authentic or original take on American Chinese cuisine and those who value generous portions and friendly service.

If you like Panda Express, this is the restaurant that started it all. Food is much better here, and there is a much larger selection than Express. Friendly staff, and great portions. You will not leave hungry. From the wontons and paper chicken, to the orange chicken and Mongolian beef. We usually go with at least 5 of us, and 3 plates feeds us all. With a couple of apps, of course. If you've never been, give them a try.

Extremely disappointing. This place has a 4 Star rating and I must say we were pretty much displeased by this food. Most people must not know what “good Chinese food” tastes like. Granted first time trying any Chinese food in Santa Clarita area, but wow this is bad. We ordered 3 items… The House Egg Foo Young was the worst I've ever had (Gravy and combo meats) with the Egg Foo Young was tasty. Mongolian Beef wasn’t good and the Tempura Shrimp wasn’t light and airy. It was heavily breaded.. I will say the service was great, quick and kind. I wish the food was as good. However, we will not return to this place. 😔🙏🏽

Great Chinese Food in SCV. Still serves tea in a teapot. Portions are huge and price is still reasonable for what everything costs nowadays. You also still get a table mat with your Chinese horoscope and a fortune cookie at the end if you finish your food.

Tried the lunch specials. Each entree comes with a choice of fried or steamed rice, side salad, and one egg roll. The portions were good size. The lunch specials are offered daily.
