Customer feedback highlights both the strengths and areas for improvement at Grand China Buffet. Many diners praise the variety of dishes available, particularly the desserts, which are often a highlight for guests. However, some reviews mention that the restaurant’s closing time procedures can be disruptive, with staff cleaning and preparing to close during peak dining times. Despite this, many customers appreciate the reasonable prices and the convenience of an all-you-can-eat buffet.

One customer shared their experience: "We came around 7:45 PM, and everything was great except for the closing time rush. The staff was cleaning and preparing to close 20 minutes before our visit ended, which made taking ice cream right before closing a bit disappointing. Despite this, the food was generally good, especially the bacon shrimp and coconut shrimp." Another visitor noted: "The food was horrible. I expected better quality from a buffet with four stars. The chicken dishes were old and lacked flavor, and the seafood section left much to be desired. However, the place was clean, which helped make the experience more enjoyable."

While there are mixed reviews regarding the consistency of food quality, Grand China Buffet remains a go-to destination for those seeking an authentic Chinese dining experience in Omaha. The restaurant’s commitment to offering a variety of dishes at reasonable prices makes it a popular choice for families and casual diners alike.

We came around 7:45. Everything was great but unfortunately 20 minutes before close time vacuum cleaners and knocking around cleaning up. Taking ice cream before restaurant closed was very disappointing. All around food was great but I think they should be more mindful of their customers during closing times!

Omaha! How does this buffet have 4 stars? The food was horrible. I grabbed my usuals, spicy chicken dishes… it tasted old, like old food AND it was not fresh or crispy. Not all the chicken tasted old but none of it was good. Onto the seafood… crab was mostly fake, which I expect from buffets but I keep it to a minimum, like in sushi… which was awful. The coconut shrimp was pretty good but when you coat something in sugar, it helps. The best thing on the buffet besides ice cream was the bacon shrimp. The beef was slimy and the pork ribs were way overcooked. The hibachi grill looked too scary to try. The meat was browning due to temperature issues and I didn’t want late night visits to the ER. I am already expecting multiple bathroom trips. The service… bland or as the kids say these days… it was mid. The place was fairly clean so that helped keep me from walking right out. Honestly Omaha, you have better Chinese cuisine… save yourself from heartache.

Several employees eating while working. Went up to the hibachi grill. Cook is sitting on a bucket eating playing on his phone. He sees people waiting for him to cook he comes over rinses is hand with water NO SOAP! Takes their food uses his hands to push food off the plate onto stove top. Our server was eating next to us would stop eating to get our plates and dump them and then continued to eat. Several on their phones while working which I don’t care but phones are so full of bacteria. Food is okay not great. Very Americanized taste.

My four boys went the other day ages 17, 14,14,and 9. They said the food was amazing and everybody was really nice but when I looked at my credit card, I was floored that it was $89!! Certainly won't be back anytime soon. Although the boys had a great time, this is over 20 per person?

Most of the food there didn’t taste good. The service was not very good. The wait staff actually ordered Chinese food from another restaurant and then sat in the dining area that they were supposed to be serving and ate their food. I completely understand that you might not want to eat the food you serve everyday, but never eat outside food in front of guests at your own restaurant. The “crab leg buffet” was actually really small crabs that looked like they didn’t even have meat to harvest from them. Very misleading.
