About Gourmet Garden Danvers

Gourmet Garden Danvers is a Chinese restaurant located at 139 Endicott St in Danvers, Massachusetts. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Gourmet Garden distinguishes itself by also featuring a sushi bar and historically offering a large buffet. For inquiries about their services or to place an order, they can be contacted at (978) 774-8588 or via mobile at +1 978-774-8588.

Based on customer reviews, the environment of Gourmet Garden Danvers is described as having "basically three different areas": a sushi bar area, a dining room, and a large buffet serving area. This suggests a spacious establishment capable of catering to different dining preferences. The presence of a dedicated sushi bar indicates a focus on Japanese cuisine in addition to their Chinese offerings, providing patrons with a wider range of choices. While the buffet area had been closed due to pandemic restrictions, there is indication that it "may be reopening," which could be a significant draw for customers who enjoy the variety and self-service aspect of a buffet. The mention of a dining room suggests a traditional seating area for those ordering from the menu or enjoying the sushi bar.

The services offered by Gourmet Garden Danvers are comprehensive, catering to various customer needs. They currently provide dine-in, takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery. This multi-faceted approach ensures that customers can enjoy their food in the manner most convenient for them. The potential reopening of the buffet would add another significant service option, appealing to those seeking an all-you-can-eat experience. The presence of a sushi bar further expands their service by offering freshly prepared sushi and related Japanese dishes. The positive mention of Tony serving an "excellent Mai Tai" at the sushi bar also suggests that they may offer a selection of alcoholic beverages, enhancing the overall dining experience for those visiting the sushi bar or dining in.

The features of Gourmet Garden Danvers are diverse, encompassing both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, as well as different dining formats. The sushi bar is a key feature, with a customer praising Jerry for preparing "some of the most stunningly beautiful and delicious sushi creations on the North Shore!" This highlights the quality and artistry of their sushi offerings, potentially making Gourmet Garden a destination for sushi enthusiasts in the area. In terms of their Chinese cuisine, a reviewer recommended not missing the "juicy mini buns" and the "special chicken wings," suggesting these are noteworthy and flavorful items on their menu.

However, not all recent feedback has been positive. One customer who bought takeout lunch found it inedible, describing the pork fried rice as "chewy & old" with "pathetic" vegetables, and the boneless spare ribs as "dry & chewy... tasteless!" This negative experience is contrasted with a past positive reputation, as the reviewer noted, "So tragic because it WAS a great place to eat," implying a potential decline in the quality of their Chinese takeout dishes at least on that particular occasion. This highlights the importance of considering both positive and negative feedback when evaluating a restaurant.

The potential reopening of the buffet, if it occurs, would be a significant feature, offering a wide array of Chinese and possibly some American dishes for a fixed price. Buffets are popular for their variety and the ability to sample different items. Customers interested in this aspect should contact the restaurant directly for updates on its status.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Gourmet Garden Danvers based on the provided customer reviews. Restaurants often have lunch specials, early bird discounts, or promotions related to their buffet or sushi bar. To learn about any current deals or special offerings, it is recommended to contact Gourmet Garden directly via phone. They would be able to provide the most up-to-date information on any promotions they might be running, including any potential reopening specials for their buffet.

In summary, Gourmet Garden Danvers in Danvers, Massachusetts, is a Chinese restaurant that also features a sushi bar and has historically offered a large buffet. They provide a range of services including dine-in, takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery. The environment includes a sushi bar area, a dining room, and a buffet area that may be reopening. While the sushi is highly praised for its quality and artistry, and specific Chinese items like mini buns and chicken wings are recommended, a recent takeout experience with traditional Chinese dishes was negative. The potential reopening of the buffet could be a significant draw. For the most current information on their menu, services, buffet status, and any promotions, contacting Gourmet Garden Danvers directly is advised.

Local users considering Gourmet Garden Danvers should weigh the positive feedback regarding the sushi and specific menu items against the recent negative experience with takeout. The potential reopening of the buffet adds another dimension to their offerings. Given the diverse aspects of the restaurant, including the sushi bar and the possibility of a buffet, it might be worth trying different parts of their menu or inquiring about the buffet's status to form a comprehensive opinion. The availability of multiple service options (dine-in, takeout, curbside, delivery) provides flexibility for customers.

Bought lunch today-to go. Couldn't eat it! Pork fried rice was chewy & old-even vegetables in it were pathetic. Boneless spare ribs were dry & chewy... tasteless! So tragic because it WAS a great place to eat.

Update due to pandemic restrictions: Buffet had been closed. But I hear it may be reopening! . Wonderful food and people! The restaurant is basically three different areas, the sushi bar area, the dining room and the large buffet serving area. The buffet area has been closed throughout the pandemic, but the restaurant still offers dine in, take out, curbside pickup and delivery! We mainly visit the sushi bar, where Tony served an excellent Mai Tai and Jerry prepared some of the most stunningly beautiful and delicious sushi creations on the North Shore! Don't miss the juicy mini buns or the special chicken wings!

The workers were very respectful and the food was amazing, loved the crab Rangoon (and so did my girlfriend) and I’d come back here again ❤️

Easily one of the worst Chinese food places on the North Shore, doesn't live up to the quality of food at the Swampscott Location. Having eaten here at least 5 times, the food is always terrible. Overcooked broccoli in the vegetable lo mein as the only vegetable, overcooked noodles, blande sauce flavor, scallion pancakes which are rock hard, like they have sat out for a week. And yet they charge you a premium 14+ dollars for a lo mein, which at most other chinese restaurants is 8-10 dollars. Not sure who is keeping this place in business, but I have finally learned my lesson and won't be back.

My partner and I LOVE this place. Service is friendly and attentive. Food is well plated, fresh, and delicious. The Mai Tais here are made perfectly, we love them! To top it all off the price of everything is very reasonable. Come here for their lunch and dinner specials and it’s even better!
