About Gourmet Delight B.B.Q.

Located at 1045 Stockton St in the bustling Chinatown of San Francisco, Gourmet Delight B.B.Q., also identified as 新凯丰 (Xin Kai Feng), operates as a Chinese Restaurant offering a variety of dishes, with a particular emphasis implied by its name on barbecue items. However, based on the limited but strongly negative customer reviews available, this establishment appears to have significant shortcomings in several key areas, including food quality, hygiene, cleanliness, and pricing. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the environment, services, and features of Gourmet Delight B.B.Q. as described by the overwhelmingly critical feedback from its patrons.

Regarding the environment of Gourmet Delight B.B.Q., one reviewer explicitly states that the "Store interior is not even clean." This is a serious concern for any dining establishment, as cleanliness is paramount for food safety and customer comfort. The lack of a clean environment can deter potential customers and raises questions about the overall hygiene practices within the restaurant, including food preparation areas.

The service at Gourmet Delight B.B.Q. is not extensively commented on, but one particularly alarming review mentions a severe lack of hygiene. The reviewer specifically advises against ordering the roast duck, stating, "The owner did not wash his hands after handling money." This alleged practice is a significant breach of food safety protocols and poses a serious health risk to customers. Handling money, which can carry numerous contaminants, followed by handling food without proper handwashing is unacceptable in any food service establishment. This single comment casts a dark shadow over the hygiene practices and the overall service standards at Gourmet Delight B.B.Q.

The features of Gourmet Delight B.B.Q., based on the negative reviews, are unfortunately centered around poor food quality and high prices. One reviewer went so far as to call it "probably one of if not the worst Chinese restaurants/food take out stores in San Francisco China Town." This harsh assessment is supported by specific complaints about the food itself. The reviewer ordered three dishes and rice for $52, which they considered overpriced given the quality. They reported that the "noodle and eggplants were cold, probably from last night's left overs." Serving cold leftovers as fresh food is a significant failure in food quality control and is unacceptable for customers paying full price.

Furthermore, the same reviewer described the food as tasting "very bland, maybe just steam and blend together, not chief made on a wok." This suggests a lack of proper cooking techniques and flavor development, resulting in dishes that are unappetizing and do not meet the expected standards of Chinese cuisine. The implication that the food is simply steamed and mixed, rather than skillfully prepared in a wok, indicates a lack of culinary expertise or care in the kitchen.

The roast duck, which is a common and often celebrated dish in Cantonese cuisine and implied to be a specialty given the "B.B.Q." in the restaurant's name, also received scathing criticism. The reviewer not only highlighted the severe hygiene concern regarding the owner not washing hands after handling money but also described the duck as "so greasy." While some level of fat is expected in roast duck, excessive greasiness can make it unpalatable. The reviewer's strong recommendation to get roast duck elsewhere ("Get your roast duck from Duk Hing") further underscores the poor quality experienced at Gourmet Delight B.B.Q.

The combination of overpriced food ($52 for three dishes and rice), cold and potentially leftover items, bland taste lacking proper cooking techniques, and hygiene issues as severe as an owner allegedly not washing hands after handling money paints a dire picture of the dining experience at Gourmet Delight B.B.Q.

Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback focusing on poor food quality, high prices for substandard food, an unclean environment, and serious hygiene concerns, there is absolutely no indication of any positive promotional aspects. In fact, the strong warnings from reviewers to avoid the establishment at all costs serve as negative promotion, strongly advising potential customers to steer clear to protect their money and their health.

For local users in San Francisco looking for a Chinese Restaurant in Chinatown, the available reviews strongly advise against considering Gourmet Delight B.B.Q. at 1045 Stockton St. The feedback highlights issues ranging from overpriced and cold food that may be leftovers, to a bland taste indicative of poor cooking, an unclean store interior, and alarming hygiene practices involving the handling of food after money without washing hands. These are critical concerns that should deter anyone seeking a safe, enjoyable, and reasonably priced Chinese meal.

The comparison to other establishments in Chinatown is also unfavorable, with a direct recommendation to go to a different restaurant (Duk Hing) for roast duck. This suggests that local diners familiar with the Chinatown food scene are aware of and actively recommend avoiding Gourmet Delight B.B.Q. due to its significant shortcomings.

In conclusion, based on the severely negative customer reviews, Gourmet Delight B.B.Q., also known as 新凯丰, appears to be a Chinese Restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown that suffers from significant issues related to food quality (cold, bland, possibly leftovers, overly greasy roast duck), high prices for the poor quality received, an unclean environment, and alarming hygiene practices. Local users are strongly advised to avoid this establishment based on the experiences shared by other diners who have expressed deep dissatisfaction and concerns about food safety and value for money.

新凯丰.Gourmet Delight BBQ Probably one of if not the worst Chinese restaurants/food take out stores in San Francisco China Town. We ordered 3 dishes and one rice, the price was $52! And the noddle and eggplants were cold, probably from last night's left overs. The food tasted very bland, maybe just steam and blend together, not chief made on a wok. Store interior is not even clean If you value your money and stomach, and maybe hope for Chinese food,  please avoid this store at all cost.

Please for the love of god do not get your roast duck here. The owner did not wash his hands after handling money and the duck was so greasy. Get your roast duck from Duk Hing. I wanted to go there but it was closed early. Lesson learned 😭

Very reasonable, more like a steal. $8 bucks for chowmein, fried rice and 2 item combo. Well worth it. Definitely coming back.

The roast duck was a bit on the greasier side but the value is pretty good.
