Based on recent customer feedback, Golden Wok appears to be facing significant challenges regarding the quality of its food and potentially its hygiene standards. One long-time customer shared a concerning experience, stating that while Golden Wok "used to be an amazing place to get Chinese food" that they frequented with their father, the food quality has "dropped off tremendously" over the past five visits. This reviewer specifically highlighted issues with the General Tso's chicken, describing it as "hardly edible" due to being "extremely chewy/ hard to chew" and needing to be cooked longer. They also reported that the fried rice was "not cooked all the way." Adding to these quality concerns, the reviewer stated they had found hair in their food on two separate occasions, noting it was a hairnet. They expressed a desire for the owners to address these issues and bring the restaurant back to its former standards.

Another customer's review painted an even more negative picture of their experience at Golden Wok. They described the "chicken on a stick appetizer" as being "mostly stick," implying a lack of actual chicken. This negative start seemingly foreshadowed the rest of their meal, as they characterized Golden Wok as a "bottom shelf Chinese restaurant" that should be avoided unless one is "desperate." Their garlic chicken entree was particularly disappointing, consisting of only "4 pieces of chicken" with the remainder being broccoli. The sauce was described as tasting like it was "made days ago," and the overall meal was deemed "terrible" and something to "avoid at all costs." This reviewer concluded by stating they would "never return" and shockingly compared the restaurant's food quality unfavorably to "most gas station food," labeling Golden Wok as a "pathetic restaurant."

These two recent reviews paint a concerning picture of Golden Wok. The recurring themes of poor food quality, including issues with the texture and cooking of the chicken and rice, as well as the quality and freshness of sauces, are significant red flags. The alarming report of finding hair in the food on multiple occasions raises serious questions about hygiene practices in the kitchen. The stark contrast between a past positive perception and the current negative experiences suggests a potential decline in the restaurant's standards.

For local users in Roanoke, Virginia, considering Golden Wok, it is essential to take these recent reviews into serious account. The feedback indicates potential issues with the edibility and preparation of key dishes like the General Tso's chicken and fried rice. The extremely negative review of the garlic chicken and the chicken on a stick appetizer further suggests a lack of quality in ingredients and cooking. Most concerning is the report of finding hair in the food, which is a significant hygiene issue that could deter many potential customers.

Given the severity of these complaints, including concerns about food safety and overall quality, local users might want to exercise extreme caution before choosing to dine at or order from Golden Wok. The negative experiences seem to outweigh any potential positives based on this recent feedback. The passionate plea from a former loyal customer for the owners to address the issues suggests that the decline in quality is noticeable and disappointing to those who once held the restaurant in high regard.

The provided information does not offer any insights into the restaurant's environment or any services beyond dine-in and takeout. There is also no mention of any special features or promotional offers. Therefore, potential customers must rely solely on these recent reviews to form an opinion of the current state of Golden Wok.

In conclusion, the recent customer feedback for Golden Wok at 6443 Williamson Rd in Roanoke, Virginia, raises significant concerns about the restaurant's food quality and hygiene. Reports of chewy and undercooked chicken, improperly cooked rice, and hair found in food are serious issues that potential customers should be aware of. The overwhelmingly negative experience of one reviewer, who described the food as terrible and the restaurant as pathetic, further underscores these concerns. Local users may want to consider these recent experiences carefully before deciding to patronize Golden Wok.

This place was and used to be an amazing place to get Chinese food and I’d go all the time with my dad. The past 5 times I have gone now the food quality has dropped off tremendously the general tsos chicken is hardly edible as it is extremely chewy/ hard to chew, needs to be cooked longer as well and the fried rice is also not cooked all the way. Also I have found hair in my food twice now. (Hairnet) I would love the owners to see this and get this place back on track again!

The chicken on a stick appetizer was mostly stick. It was all downhill from there. Bottom shelf Chinese restaurant, avoid unless desperate. My garlic chicken entree had 4 pieces of chicken and the rest was broccoli. The sauce tasted like it was made days ago. This meal was terrible, avoid at all costs. I personally will never return. Pathetic restaurant, worse than most gas station food.

If your used to eating more of an authentic chinese dish, this is not the place for you. If you don’t know the difference then you may think this food is awesome. The fried rice is not homemade, looks store bought and yellow, the hot n sour soup had absolutely no taste at all, and the egg roll tasted like a frozen store bought egg roll. When I saw the name “ Golden Wok” I thought it was the same place in Texas that is popular but nope. I was very displeased with their food. And they forgot my sprite through doordash.

used to be my favorite place to get Chinese. i used to love the beef and broccoli, but now it barely has any flavor in the sauces, the rice is incredibly bland and mushy tasting. the eggrolls have shrunk and the dumplings are tiny now. the chicken and the beef on a stick are mainly just stick and absolutely not worth the price.i've been trying a few different things from here over the past year in hopes i could find a good dish again, but unfortunately, it just seems to keep getting worse. on the bright side, its edible, i guess.

The food USED to be REALLY good until they changed ownership. Now its all different. Fried rice was mushy and flavorless, chicken tasted much different as well. Previous owner was generous on prices also. New ownership has ruined what used to be a great restaurant. I used to go there every week but I won't be going back anymore..
