About Golden Temple & The E Room Bar
Golden Temple & The E Room Bar is a Chinese restaurant located at 1651 Beacon St, Brookline, MA 02445, USA. They can be contacted at (617) 277-9722 or +1 617-277-9722.
This Chinese restaurant is noted for its atmosphere, which at least one reviewer found appealing. However, it's also mentioned that the lighting may be dim, requiring a flashlight to read the menu.
Experiences with the food appear to be varied. One customer who tried the Sesame Chicken, egg rolls, and wonton soup found the egg rolls to be good and more stuffed than those in Texas, and the chicken and soup to be tasty. However, they also noted that the soup and egg rolls were served at almost the same time as the main course, which was inconvenient. This reviewer also felt the price was a bit high but lacked a local comparison.
In contrast, another reviewer had a very negative experience, describing it as the worst meal ever received. They found the food disgusting, the price outrageous, and specifically criticized the chicken and noodles. This reviewer was extremely disappointed and stated they could not finish the meal, wishing they could give less than one star.
Given the contrasting reviews, it's difficult to form a definitive overall picture of the food and service at Golden Temple & The E Room Bar. Potential customers may want to consider the range of opinions when deciding whether to dine here.

Tried some Boston Chinese food to compare it to Texas Chinese food. Really like the atmosphere. You will need your flashlight to read menu. Got the Sesame Chicken, egg rolls, and wonton soup. Unfortunately, the soup and egg rolls came out pretty much at the same time as the main course, so we had to eat them quickly so the chicken didn't get cold. Egg rolls tasted good and were stuffed much more than Texas egg rolls. Chicken and soup were tasty. Thought it was a bit pricey, but I can't compare it to other area Chinese restaurants.
This is the worst meal I have ever received in my life from an establishment. Not only is the food disgusting the price is outrageous. Take it from me do not order here. The chicken was just in a puddle of oranges for some reason. The noodles look like they just boiled them and put them on the plate. I couldn’t even finish the meal and honestly was super disappointed especially from a place that looked like it should be good. If I could give less stars I would. This place is disgusting.
I don't want to be too harsh here......but.....it's a tradition in my family to cook at home on Christmas Eve but to go out to a non-Christian restaurant on Christmas Day to eat....preferably Chinese food. I had a reservation for 7pm but they were over-sat and we didn't actually get a table until 7:30pm. While we were standing and waiting they just kept allowing more and more people to walk in with or without a reservation and the ENTIRE time they told every single guest including myself that they were backed up 15min. By the time we got our table there was a giant crowd in the waiting area. As a chef myself in a large VIP restaurant in Fenway I knew the hostess and waiters were simply mismanaging the walk-in system by allowing impatient people to crowd the bar. We heard them pick up the phone and cancel several people's previously placed to-go orders which I thought was absolutely shocking to do last minute on a holiday like that. Our total time from walking in the door to leaving was 2 hrs and 20min. The food......was unfortunately not worth the wait. I'm convinced that we were served durum wheat linguine instead of egg noodles in our lo mein dishes and we actually had to send back a dish that was supposed to be szechuan beef but only had 3 strips of meat in what was about 1lb of soggy eggplant. They also had already run out of duck before we were ever sat apparently. This led me to believe we definitely didn't get real lo mein noodles and they were running out of all the food forcing them to go to a local open grocery for substitutes. I would not come back even if it wasn't a busy holiday but as for all the shortcomings and issues on top of a ridiculous price-set considering the lack of quality I will suggest to them what I always suggest in my professional career..........if you dont want to be open or cant handle being open on a holiday, then don't, as last nights experience convinced me the place just isn't worth a visit by anyone no matter what.
DEAD MOUSE UNDER MY TABLE! I’ve been here numerous times over the years but stopped coming due to the pandemic. I came back to celebrate with my family after a long while and the food was great but service was terrible. The waiters were rude and kept touching the top of our cups. Table we were placed was FILTHY! They served us flat sodas. Then to top it off a dead mouse was under our table and apparently snuggled under one of my guests purses that accidentally full under the table. How disgusting. The staff didn’t even come by to apologize . We had already paid for our food so the least they could do is apologize. One of the managers snatched my phone out of my hand when I tried to show him the picture of the mouse which they quickly cleaned up to cover their tracks. He tried to delete the picture off my phone multiple people had to demand for him to return my phone. Never coming or supporting this business ever again
Golden Temple has beautiful architecture and is extremely clean adding to the upscale but casual atmosphere. The seating is nicely spaced to enjoy your meal without being crowded. I found that they do a great job with the popular New England Chinese appetizers. They have old school Egg Rolls that are filled with a perfect mixture. You can eat them without needing any duck sauce. The famous Golden Temple Ribs are worth the extra money. Nice char and flavor. Crisp on the outside tender on the inside easily coming off the bone. I would consider these very high up on my list for best in the state. The Chicken Wings had a nice dark color that gets you excited to take a bite. They were crispy and juicy with a very nice flavor. The Beef Teriyaki was marinated nicely and very flavorful. The Hot and Sour Soup was good, but a little heavy handed on the vinegar. The Shrimp were cooked perfectly in the Lobster Sauce. The sauce was okay. The Orange Beef lacked any crispiness, was hard to cut and the sauce had more of a tomato flavor. Overall the food was really good with the appetizers being the star of the show. They alone make it worth checking out. I'll try some different entrées next time. My friends tell me the Lobster Sauce is great. I will probably give it a second try and see if I caught an off night.
