Golden Palace Chinese Restaurant

I have wanted to stop here for a long time. I love the look at the place. I ordered a small order of pork fried rice for pick up and let me tell you, this thing was stuffed. There was lots of pork, egg, and all kinds of good stuff in the rice. I was in a hurry and the gentleman running the place was very accommodating. I don’t think I could be more pleased with my experience with the Golden Palace Chinese Restaurant…

The food was delicious, lots of great choices for Dim Sum. Service needs a little improvement, not great communication with some of the servers. We felt a little rushed as they just brought us the bill without us asking or being ready to leave ( we were going to order desserts, but lol). Overall, it was a good experience, and I definitely recommend to those who love Dim Sum.

This was the first time I have tried this Chinese restaurant as I was told that they have the best food! We walked into the restaurant and we were surprised that we were seated within 5 minutes! The place was at full capacity the entire time that we were there. You know that this place is the real deal when there is not an empty seat at 2:00 pm. You order the food by writing down the quantity of the dish you want and give them the menu. Then sit back and they bring you all the dishes in stages. We ordered 12 different dishes and every one of them were excellent! They all were flavorful and the portions are great! The down fall to this place is expect to wait to get a server over and it took a long how long time to get the food. Also, the servers never came back to the table to see what we need like drinks and additional napkins. We had to go find the server each time we needed something The issue is there were only three servers for a room of 150 customers. The restaurant needs to hire more servers to work. Each and every servers were literally running around so you cannot blame them.

Dim sum. The mysterious taste experience that many of us have never tried, wanted to but were either hesitant or more likely it not being available in your area. So after watching a few Youtube videos my wife and I struck out to visit The Golden Palace and see what Dim sum is all about. We arrived about 2pm on a Saturday and were immediately seated. The restaurant was doing a brisk business and the moment we were seated several waitresses came over to provide water and a pot of green tea. The owner, Mr. Ping came to our table, introduced himself and when he found this was our first Dim sum experience he graciously offered to suggest dishes. We had quite a feast to say the least and there was enough to take home for later but what a terrific taste experience. Everything came to the table piping hot and was brought in by a series of very friendly waitresses. I will caution you about the chili dipping sauce though. One taste leaves a lasting impression on your taste buds. All in all we had a lovely time and will be back again to be sure. Thank you Mr. Ping!

First time here because no Chinese food on Sunday noon in Mohegan Sun and I really wanted some dim sum & tea for the morning after I finished a show on Saturday night there. Pretty decent Canton cuisine. There are some articles about the history of the founder/chef/owner of the restaurant that interests me very much (see pictures). Definitely will go again next time in CT.
