About Golden House (Temple City)

Welcome to Golden House, a Chinese Restaurant located at 9608 E Las Tunas Dr, Temple City, CA 91780, USA. Situated in the heart of Temple City, Golden House aims to provide a comfortable dining experience with a range of Chinese dishes. Based on recent customer feedback, Golden House has undergone remodeling, offering a fresh ambiance alongside its established menu.

One of the notable features of Golden House is its ample seating capacity, including a "good amount of tables" and the availability of "3 private rooms." This makes it a potential option for both small gatherings and larger groups seeking a more intimate dining setting. Customers have reported being seated quickly, especially during less busy times, indicating efficient service upon arrival.

The menu at Golden House encompasses a variety of Chinese dishes. Based on one customer's initial visit, the offerings included lamb soup, thick green onion pancakes, duck, sauteed green beans, and pork dry tofu. While the opinions on these dishes varied, the lamb soup was highlighted as "probably the best of all of them," with the green onion pancake as a close second. However, it's worth noting that the sauteed green beans and pork dry tofu were found to be "too salty," and the green onion pancake was seasoned "a bit too heavily with black pepper." The duck, while enjoyed by the reviewer's parents, did not particularly suit their taste.

This initial experience suggested that the dishes might cater to those with "heavier taste buds," and the reviewer found the overall quality to be "pretty average and somewhat lacking compared to its prices," recommending it perhaps for a first-time try rather than a regular dining option. The portion sizes were described as "average," and the reviewer noted the use of "very large plates" that occupied significant space on smaller tables.

However, a subsequent visit after the remodeling presented a more positive experience. The restaurant still offers "plenty of parking in the back," a practical convenience for diners. The interior layout has been changed, with the main dining area no longer being open and now featuring at least one "private room." In a notable instance of good service, a party of four was led to a private room without even requesting it, which was a "shocked/pleasantly surprised" experience, possibly due to lower customer volume at the time of arrival.

The service during this return visit was commended for being "great in providing water refills and when we needed to order more food," indicating an improvement or consistency in attentiveness. This positive feedback on service enhances the overall dining experience.

More importantly, the reviewer who returned also highlighted specific dishes that were particularly impressive. The "beef rolls" were described as "crispy and super tasty," suggesting a must-try appetizer or side dish. The "soup dumplings" were also praised as "very good and flavorful," a testament to their quality and taste. Additionally, the "stir fried noodles" were noted as "delicious." One dish, the "house beef noodle soup," was ordered with spice and found to be "pretty spicy," which is useful information for those sensitive to heat or those specifically seeking a spicy option.

The ambiance of the remodeled interior, particularly within the private room, was also well-received, with the reviewer noting that the "decoration inside the private room" was "very beautiful." Furthermore, the restaurant features unique "really cool dragon chopstick holders," adding a touch of cultural flair and visual appeal to the dining experience.

Considering the contrasting experiences, Golden House appears to be a restaurant that has potentially improved or offers a more consistent experience post-remodel. The availability of private rooms is a significant feature for those seeking a more exclusive dining setting. The positive remarks on dishes like the beef rolls, soup dumplings, and stir-fried noodles, along with the improved service and appealing decor, suggest that Golden House now offers a more compelling reason to visit.

While the initial review pointed out some inconsistencies in dish quality and value, the subsequent review highlights several standout items and a more positive overall experience. For local users in Temple City and the surrounding areas, Golden House at 9608 E Las Tunas Dr presents an opportunity to enjoy Chinese cuisine in a newly renovated setting with the option of private dining. To explore their current menu and experience the potentially improved food quality and service, a visit to Golden House is recommended. My parents came here to eat multiple times and told me this place had good food, so we came here together for dinner. They have a good amount of tables and 3 private rooms. We were seated fast since it wasn't that full inside. We ended up ordering the lamb soup, thick green onion pancakes, duck, sauteed green beans, and pork dry tofu. They were served in around 10 minutes, not too long. The duck didn't really match my tastes but my parents enjoyed it. As for the green beans and dry tofu, both were too salty and I had to eat it with rice to stomach it. I guess people with heavier taste buds would not have a problem with those. As for the pancake, it was alright but it was seasoned a bit too heavily with black pepper. The soup was probably the best of all of them (close second would be the pancake) but was a bit too oily. The dishes overall well pretty average and somewhat lacking compared to its prices. There are much better tasting Chinese restaurants in this area at around the same price. The portions are also average. For some reason, they like to use very large plates that take up a lot of space on their small tables even though portion isn't that much. I wouldn't come back again. Probably would recommend for those who just want to give this place a try once.

Came back and saw they remodeled! Still plenty of parking in the back. Inside, the layout isn’t open anymore and has a private room. The hostess led me to this room without me asking and I was shocked/pleasantly surprised! My party had only 4 people and yet we were given the nice room (I think cause when we arrived, there weren’t many customers there). The service was great in providing water refills and when we needed to order more food. Their beef rolls are impressive!! They are crispy and super tasty! The soup dumplings are very good and flavorful and the stir fried noodles are delicious too! We ordered the house beef noodle soup but forgot to ask for it without spice, it is pretty spicy! I also loved the decoration inside the private room. Very beautiful! They also have really cool dragon chopstick holders.

August 2022 - Food/Pricing - Peanut w/ Seaweed - $6.99 - Flavorful and nicely seasoned. Xiao Long Bao (Juicy Pork Dumplings) - $10.99 - 8pcs - Wish it came with the usual 10 pcs. Nevertheless, it was very juicy and yummy! Pan Fried Pork Dumplings - $12.99 - I need this to be more crispy! Other than that the taste was good. Stir Fried Sliced Noodle - $15.99 - Fresh and tasty! Spicy Beef Noodle Soup - $13.99 - We did standard round noodles. Absolutely loved the flavor of the entire dish! The soup was perfectly seasoned and spicy enough to be tasty. The beef was tender. Couldn't ask for anything more. Service/Ambiance - The staff were not very attentive. It took some time to get there attention and we were the only party there at the time. They were busy with sorting takeout orders but gotta pay attention to customers who are physically there too. The air conditioning system wasn't cold enough so it felt pretty warm in there while we were eating. I also got bit by a mosquito that was flying around and there was also a fly bugging us the whole time. Parking - There's a parking lot at the back of the restaurant! Street parking is also an option.

What an amazing place to eat during pandemic. Out door dining with plenty of seating. High quality fresh meat and make your own sauce. We ordered #3 combo large + other dishes, the prime short rib is so juicy it melts in the mouth. The owner is very friendly, shares with us his passion to find the best quality product to serve customers. This place recently just open the Yakiniku outdoor seating, so if your in the area, definitely stop by with a few friends to enjoy as the portion is very generous.

Found this place that serves sesame green onion bread, which was delicious!!! The other dishes were also tasty. Wasn't expecting the pork hock to be deep fried, but it was meaty and the skin was very crunchy. Not cheap; we paid over $70 with tip for the two of us. Chinese food has gotten to be too expensive!!!
