Golden Harbor Authentic Chinese Cuisine

Well if you want Chinese food you will definitely get it. I would not say it is the best Chinese food I’ve had… or even the most decent. Everything is self-service which is completely fine if not more streamlined (ordering, getting water, getting menus). But food is delivered by a waiter so that is good! Server was very nice and service was very quick even when busy, our food came out in less than 15 minutes (and we ordered a lot). I will say to use the ‘Americanized’ menu if you are not familiar with Chinese cuisine, then the Taiwanese menu, and lastly if you are adventurous try the attempt the read the 1000 item Authentic menu. RECOMMEND FOR BIG PARTIES: Order $120+ (pretax) for a free entree The food were all mostly meh, with a few outliers: the king mushroom dish, triple chicken dish, and the sweet pork-chop. Everything else was quite oily, lacking in salt, or flavorless. DO NOT order the wonton soup, unless you want a bowl of hot water.

decent option for authentic chinese food. felt that the dishes were a bit overpriced but they didn’t require any tip. just a $1.75/person cleaning fee, and utensils/napkins/water were all self-serve. we had the kung-pao chicken, green beans w/ bean curd paste, prawns, and beef belly w/ mala sauce. the kung-pao chicken was definitely my favorite.

Perhaps my expectations were too high and the menu was truly impressive, but in the end the quality of the food was only OK. The service was pretty fast and I liked the fact that you could get your own tea, etc. but one dish was a little cold, another had beef that was a little overcooked and tough. Not bad, just not great. Go here for some authentic dishes, but moderate your expectations.

Wow. Overwhelming huge and gigantic vegan and vegetarian menu. Best and most authentic Asian food I've had in the USA. BEST. Dishes are labeled when they come out, and placed on a giant turntable to share with everyone. Also meat, fish, you name it. Place your own order and wait for the fun to arrive! Got the tofu spinach dumpling starter, fried General Stop tofu, fried eggplant with basil (my favorite) and okra, and jalapeno bok choi. STUFFED. Bring friends, bring Tupperware!!

I was driving through Champaign on my way to Detroit. And I stopped by here again after 8 years. Im glad the restaurant is still here and survived Covid19. The food was great as usual. It's hard to find a good Chinese restaurant like Golden Harbor in the Midwest.
