About Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant

Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant, situated at 811 23rd St in Greeley, Colorado, serves as a local option for those seeking Chinese cuisine. Offering both takeout and potentially dine-in services (though this is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews), Golden Dragon aims to cater to the Greeley community with a range of Chinese dishes. Recent customer feedback provides insights into the quality of their food, their pricing structure, and the service experienced by patrons.

One recent customer expressed significant dissatisfaction with their takeout order. According to their review, not a single item was cooked properly. They described the orange chicken as being primarily fried batter coated in orange sauce, suggesting a lack of actual chicken or an improper preparation. The rangoons were reported to contain a minimal amount of cream cheese filling. Furthermore, the rice was described as "insanely undercooked," with the reviewer stating they had experienced better quality rice in a school lunch setting. Based on this experience, this customer explicitly stated they would not recommend Golden Dragon.

In contrast, another reviewer highlighted a positive interaction with the person behind the counter, describing them as "very friendly." This suggests that the customer service at Golden Dragon may be a strong point for some patrons. This reviewer also noted a distinction in food quality based on preparation method, stating that "if you order food made in the bake its great." This implies that certain items on the menu might be better received than others, depending on how they are cooked.

This second reviewer also mentioned a recent change in the restaurant's pricing model to a "pay by the scoop" system, which includes an "awesome price" for a combo meal. This combo reportedly includes three scoops of food, a soda, and an egg roll for $7.50, which the reviewer considered a good deal. However, despite the attractive price, this customer found that all the "scoop" food they tried was dry and had a texture they likened to an "old tire." This indicates a potential issue with the quality or freshness of the food offered under this new pricing structure, at least according to this particular customer's experience.

The limited number of reviews available paints a somewhat conflicting picture of Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant. On one hand, there is praise for the friendly service and the potential value offered by the new combo deal. On the other hand, there are significant concerns raised about the quality and proper cooking of several key dishes, including the orange chicken, rangoons, and rice, as well as the texture of the food offered under the "pay by the scoop" system.

For local users in Greeley considering Golden Dragon, it is important to weigh these recent experiences. The positive note about friendly service is a definite plus, and the $7.50 combo deal might be appealing to those looking for an affordable meal. However, the serious criticisms regarding the food quality and preparation cannot be ignored. The description of undercooked rice, poorly prepared orange chicken, and dry, unappetizing "scoop" food should give potential customers pause.

It is possible that the quality of dishes varies, as suggested by the comment about "food made in the bake" being great. However, without more specific information on which items fall into this category, it is difficult to make informed choices based solely on this feedback. The discrepancy between the positive service and the negative food experiences is also noteworthy.

Given the information available, local residents might want to exercise caution when considering Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant. If you are drawn by the price of the combo meal, it might be worth inquiring about the freshness and preparation of the "scoop" items. For those with specific dish preferences, such as orange chicken or fried rice, the negative reviews regarding their quality should be taken into account. The friendly service is a potential draw, but ultimately, the quality of the food is a primary factor for most diners.

Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant is located at 811 23rd St, Greeley, CO 80631, and can be contacted at (970) 351-6168 or +1 970-351-6168. Potential customers may want to consider calling the restaurant to inquire about their menu, preparation methods, and any current promotions, especially regarding the "pay by the scoop" options. It might also be beneficial to look for more recent reviews to get a broader understanding of the current customer experience at Golden Dragon.

In conclusion, Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant in Greeley presents a mixed profile based on recent customer feedback. While the friendly service and the value of the combo deal are positive aspects, significant concerns have been raised about the proper cooking and overall quality of several dishes, as well as the texture of the "scoop" food. Local users should consider these points carefully when deciding whether to dine at or order from Golden Dragon.

Just got our take out from this place and not a single item of food was cooked properly. Orange chicken is essentially fried badder in orange sauce. Rangoons had barely any cream cheese. Rice was insanely undercooked - I’ve had better rice at a school lunch. Do not recommend.

Great person behind the counter very friendly. If you order food made in the bake its great. Recently changed to a pay by the scoop place with an awesome price on a combo. Unfortunately all the "scoop" food I tried was dry and had the consistency of an old tire. But if you need a good deal 3 scoops a soda and egg roll is tough to beat for 7.50

A co-worker had this for lunch and it smelled so good I had to try it for dinner. Super tasty!! Food was fresh. I am very picky with my egg rolls and wontons, both were crispy and flavorful and this place is my new favorite!! Will be returning regularly.

This is not Golden Dragon, it's named like Royal Chinese or something close to that. Called them after seeing the name and they said they were the same Golden Dragon that was in Greeley, then they said they had the same menu. I loved Golden Dragon, this menu and the quality of the food is not even close. I had lo mein (it was ok), orange chicken (barely edible), BBQ pork ( I didn't even try it, it did not look good at all). I was sad as Golden Dragon was very good at the other location.

Update: I'm so sad to see Golden Dragon close and Royal Express take its place. I will miss your wonderful cooking and friendly service. Best Curry Chicken ever. This has quickly become my favorite restaurant to go to on my way to work. The portions are generous, the food extremely tasty (I have not had a good vegetable eggroll in ages and this place does it right), and the interior is so aesthetically pleasing & quaint. If you want good Chinese food, come here!
