About Golden Dragon Buffet
Welcome to Golden Dragon Buffet, a Chinese restaurant located at 1387 S 48th St in Springdale, Arkansas. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant platform category, Golden Dragon Buffet offers a wide selection of Chinese dishes, typically presented in a buffet style where customers can serve themselves from various stations. This format usually includes a variety of appetizers, main courses featuring meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetables, as well as rice, noodles, and desserts, catering to a broad range of tastes and preferences.
Based on the recent customer reviews, the dining experience at Golden Dragon Buffet appears to be inconsistent, with some significant concerns raised alongside a positive comment. One detailed review described a problematic visit involving issues with accessibility, service, food temperature, and menu accuracy. Upon entering the restaurant with a guide dog and a friend on crutches, the reviewer noted that they were seated in the "farthest back corner" of the half-full establishment, which posed a considerable difficulty for their friend with mobility challenges. This suggests a potential lack of consideration for customers with disabilities in their seating arrangements.
The same reviewer also recounted an uncomfortable interaction with the server regarding their guide dog. Despite the dog being well-mannered and trained, the server allegedly suggested leaving the dog at the table due to potential fear from other patrons. While the reviewer chose to do so out of habit, they rightly pointed out that managing others' fears of a service animal is not the responsibility of the handler. This incident indicates a lack of understanding or training among the staff regarding service animal policies and customer rights.
More alarmingly, the review raised serious concerns about the food quality and safety, specifically regarding temperature. The reviewer stated that "the cold food was warm and the supposedly warm food was cold," noting that hot food in Arkansas should be kept at a minimum of $135°F for safety. According to their assessment, the hot food was barely above room temperature, which they correctly identified as a potential health hazard. This is a critical issue that could pose a risk to customers and suggests a failure in maintaining proper food holding temperatures.
The service experience described in this review was also negative, characterized as "basically non-existent." The reviewer felt that their seating in the back corner was deliberate, as it was near where the staff tended to cluster, giving the impression that they were being watched. This created a feeling of being treated as "second class citizens" without any apparent reason, further detracting from the dining experience.
Adding to the disappointment, the reviewer mentioned that Golden Dragon Buffet was "supposed to have sushi" but did not on the day of their visit. This inaccuracy in menu offerings can be misleading for customers who specifically come to the buffet expecting certain items. The reviewer concluded with a strong negative recommendation, urging others to avoid the restaurant for the sake of their families due to the food temperature concerns.
Conversely, another reviewer had a much more positive experience, stating that they were "really blown away by the selection and how they had their buffet set up." They also found the food to be "all delicious" and the prices to be "not bad either!" This feedback suggests that some customers have had satisfactory experiences with the variety and taste of the food, as well as the value offered.
Given these contrasting reviews, the Golden Dragon Buffet in Springdale, AR, appears to offer a highly variable experience. While some customers might find a wide selection of delicious food at reasonable prices, there are significant concerns raised by others regarding accessibility for disabled patrons, staff interactions, food safety (specifically temperature), service attentiveness, and menu accuracy. The stark difference in these experiences suggests potential inconsistencies in the restaurant's operations and quality control.
For local users considering Golden Dragon Buffet, it is important to weigh these contrasting opinions. The positive review highlights the potential for a satisfying buffet experience with a good variety of tasty food at an acceptable price point. However, the detailed negative review raises serious red flags regarding food safety and customer service that should not be ignored. The issues of accessibility and the handling of service animals are also important considerations for a broad range of potential diners.
Before visiting Golden Dragon Buffet, it might be prudent to inquire about their current buffet offerings, their policies regarding service animals, and any measures they have in place to ensure proper food temperatures are maintained. Due to the significant concerns raised, especially about food safety, potential customers might want to exercise caution and consider recent feedback from other sources as well. If you have specific accessibility needs, it would be wise to call ahead at (479) 239-8036 to discuss seating arrangements and ensure that the restaurant can accommodate you comfortably.
In conclusion, Golden Dragon Buffet in Springdale, AR, presents a mixed picture based on online reviews. While it may offer a wide selection of food at reasonable prices, potential customers should be aware of reported issues concerning food temperature, service quality, accessibility, and menu accuracy. The strong negative feedback regarding food safety is particularly concerning and warrants careful consideration before choosing to dine at this establishment. It would be advisable for the restaurant management to address these issues to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.

Customer Reviews
Okay so first of all I went in with a friend. I have a very calm and well-mannered guide dog and my friend was on crutches. The restaurant was about half full. They put us all the way in the farthest back corner. What a chore for my friend! Then the server came and told me I should leave my dog at the table because someone might be afraid. I told him it's not my responsibility if someone else is afraid of a well-mannered, well groomed, and well trained service animal. I did choose to leave her at the table because this is my habit. Now the food. The cold food was warm and the supposedly warm food was cold. Food in Arkansas is supposed to be at $135° if it's a hot food. This food was not even mouth temperature in my gas is it was maybe only slightly above room temperature. This is a danger to people! The service was basically non-existent and we were positioned where the staff typically clustered so they could keep an eye on us. I know when I'm being watched. We didn't do anything that should have created a problem but we were certainly treated a second class citizens. Also they're supposed to have sushi and they don't or at least they didn't on that day. if I could give this place negative stars, I would. Please for the sake of your family I would recommend you don't eat here because unless they really fix their food temperature, you might have problems.
I was really blown away by the selection and how they had their buffet set up. All delicious and prices weren’t bad either!
Tables are nasty and sticky. Floor is sticky. I will not return.
The hibachi guy didn't use gloves to cook and cross contaminated the shell fish with another order. Everything from the buffet to the desert was under seasoned, out too long, or just bad quality. Even the fruit was unripe. The only good thing I have to say, is that they bus tables nicely. 20 dollars per person is outrageous when the food is awful.
Atmosphere was a little dingy, service was great, llo mein was not so good. Average selection of items on the buffet Overall it was okay lunch was $24.98 plus tax for two people on drinks.
