About Golden City II Chinese Restaurant

Golden City II Chinese Restaurant, located at 2214 Kecoughtan Rd in Hampton, Virginia, operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, offering Asian cuisine that is described by one long-term patron as a "Chinese fast food staple." This suggests that the restaurant aims for quick service and convenience. This regular customer highlights several dishes as consistently "fast, delicious and affordable," indicating a positive experience over years of patronage. Their usual order includes egg foo young, chicken wings, General Tso's chicken, and egg rolls, with the shrimp fried rice also being noted as good and containing "plenty of shrimp." This positive feedback suggests that Golden City II has the potential to provide satisfying and value-oriented meals, particularly for those seeking familiar Chinese-American fast food dishes.

However, a starkly contrasting review presents a significantly negative experience. A customer who visited Golden City II based on its online rating (implied to be around 4.4 stars) expressed extreme disappointment, stating it was "The worse chinese food I’ve ever tasted." This strong condemnation raises serious concerns about the consistency and quality of the food. The reviewer detailed specific issues with multiple dishes. The shrimp fried rice was described as "mushy, dry and overcooked," a contradictory description that nonetheless points to a significant problem with the texture and preparation of a staple dish. While the egg roll was deemed "ok," the chicken wings were criticized for not tasting fresh and being "extra fatty." Furthermore, a separate order of shrimp and broccoli with fried rice, intended for a next-day lunch, was discarded without even being opened due to the poor quality of the shrimp fried rice and chicken from the initial part of the order. This resulted in a $40 wasted order, leading the customer to express disbelief that such a large order could be of such poor quality. They also reported feeling sick shortly after eating the food, further amplifying their negative experience and vowing never to return. This review strongly suggests that Golden City II can, at times, serve food of very low quality, leading to significant customer dissatisfaction and potential health concerns.

The vast difference between these two reviews makes it difficult to form a definitive objective assessment of Golden City II Chinese Restaurant. The positive review emphasizes speed, taste, affordability, and consistency over years, suggesting a reliable option for certain customers and dishes. The negative review, however, paints a picture of poorly prepared, unappetizing, and potentially unhealthy food, leading to a complete rejection of the restaurant. This discrepancy could indicate inconsistencies in food quality, preparation methods, or perhaps a change in standards over time. It is also possible that different menu items vary significantly in quality.

Information regarding the environment of Golden City II Chinese Restaurant is not explicitly provided in these reviews. The term "Chinese fast food staple" used in the positive review might suggest a casual and functional setting, typical of fast-food establishments, rather than a more formal dining atmosphere. The negative review does not comment on the physical environment, focusing solely on the food quality and its effects. Therefore, local users seeking information about the restaurant's ambiance or cleanliness would need to look for additional reviews or visit the location themselves.

In terms of services, Golden City II Chinese Restaurant offers takeout, as implied by the "fast food staple" description and the nature of the orders discussed in both reviews. The positive reviewer mentions placing orders that include a variety of dishes, suggesting a comprehensive takeout menu. The negative reviewer also placed a large order for takeout. Whether Golden City II offers dine-in or delivery services is not mentioned in these reviews. Local users interested in these options would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire.

Features of Golden City II Chinese Restaurant, based on the positive review, could include quick service, affordable prices, and potentially well-prepared versions of classic Chinese-American fast food dishes like egg foo young, chicken wings, General Tso's chicken, egg rolls, and shrimp fried rice (when well-made). However, the negative review highlights significant negative features such as mushy and dry shrimp fried rice, fatty and non-fresh tasting chicken wings, and an overall poor quality of food that led to sickness and a complete waste of money. The inconsistency in the quality of the shrimp fried rice, a dish mentioned in both reviews with drastically different assessments, is particularly concerning.

The provided reviews do not contain any information about specific promotional offers or specials at Golden City II Chinese Restaurant. Fast food establishments sometimes offer lunch specials, family deals, or discounts on certain combinations. To learn about any current promotions or discounts, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly at (757) 380-5775 or +1 757-380-5775 or check for any online presence they might have, such as a website or social media page, if available. Given the starkly contrasting experiences reported, potential customers might want to inquire about the restaurant's current food preparation standards and perhaps stick to dishes that have received more consistently positive feedback, if such information can be found from other sources.

In conclusion, Golden City II Chinese Restaurant in Hampton, VA, appears to be a highly polarizing establishment based on the two available customer reviews. While one long-term customer praises its speed, deliciousness, and affordability across a range of classic dishes, another recent customer described their experience as the worst ever, citing significant issues with the quality, texture, and freshness of multiple items, even leading to illness. This extreme contrast suggests a potential lack of consistency in food preparation and quality control. Local users considering Golden City II should be aware of these widely differing opinions. Those looking for a quick and affordable Chinese fast food option might find it satisfactory based on the positive review, but the serious concerns raised in the negative review, particularly regarding food quality and potential health implications, should not be ignored. It might be prudent to exercise caution and seek more recent or a larger number of reviews to gauge the current reliability and quality of Golden City II before placing an order.

This is my Chinese fast food staple. They are always fast, delicious and affordable. I’ve been going here for years. Hampton is not known for their Chinese food with their, but I like this one the best. My order is usually egg foo young, chicken wings, general tso and a few egg rolls. The shrimp fried rice is also good with plenty of shrimp

The worse chinese food I’ve ever tasted.. I was led to this place by the 4.4 reviews.. my 3 children and I were HIGHLY disappointed.. my shrimp fried rice was mushy, dry and overcooked.. the eggroll was ok.. I also ordered chicken wings.. which didn’t taste fresh, and were extra fatty. I ordered shrimp and broccoli w/fried rice to eat for my lunch at work the next day… but the shrimp fried rice, and chicken was so nasty… I didn’t even open the shrimp and broccoli, I just threw it away. I ordered 2 large shrimp friend rice, one small shrimp and broccoli, 4 chicken wings, and 2 egg rolls.. wasted $40.. u would think because I ordered so much food they would have made sure it was top notch.. I felt sick not too long after I ate it. I’ll never go here again. Lesson learned!
