About Golden China Restaurant

Located at 45B South Main Street in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, Golden China Restaurant operates within the "Chinese Restaurant" platform category, offering Chinese cuisine to the local community. Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at Golden China appear to be somewhat varied, with some dishes and aspects of the service receiving positive feedback, while others, such as the ambiance and certain food items, have drawn criticism. This introduction aims to provide a balanced overview for local users considering dining at this establishment.

One reviewer's initial impression of Golden China was less than favorable, noting a somewhat "off" smell upon entering and describing the location as an "old run down place." The fact that the restaurant was empty during their meal was also mentioned as a potentially negative sign. However, this reviewer did find the decorations to be "not that terrible" and praised the service as "pretty nice and friendly," indicating that the staff provided a positive interaction despite the initial ambiance concerns.

This customer's party of three ordered a variety of dishes, including honey chicken wings, wonton soup, pork with fried vegetables, chicken with mixed vegetables, and shrimp fried rice. The food was served relatively quickly, and the total cost of $50 was deemed to be a "good" value in terms of portion sizes for three people. This suggests that Golden China offers reasonably sized portions at a moderate price point.

However, the same reviewer had significant issues with the beverages, specifically recommending against the water and the tea, which they claimed tasted "like bleach." This is a serious concern regarding the quality of basic beverages served at the restaurant. Regarding the food itself, this reviewer found their dish, the pork with fried vegetables and rice, to be "kind of bland" and noted the lack of appealing presentation. On a more positive note, they were "impressed" with the wonton soup and the honey chicken wings, praising their good flavor and proper cooking. The overall conclusion from this reviewer was that Golden China "needs some work on a lot of things" and that they would "most likely not be coming back." However, they conceded that the cheap prices and the quality of certain items might make it an acceptable option for those in the area with limited funds.

In stark contrast to this mixed review, another customer expressed a highly positive experience at Golden China. This reviewer claimed to have "never had food this tasty and plentiful," and specifically lauded the "Best House Lo Mein ever" and a "Large Won Ton soup" that they considered the best they had ever had. This enthusiastic feedback paints a very different picture of the food quality, particularly for these specific dishes. The reviewer concluded by stating, "You will love this restaurant. Small town huge value and food..eat up," suggesting that Golden China offers exceptional value and delicious food, particularly their House Lo Mein and wonton soup.

The significant divergence in these two reviews highlights the potential for variability in the dining experience at Golden China. While one customer found the ambiance unappealing, some dishes bland, and even had issues with the beverages, another raved about the taste and quantity of the food, particularly the Lo Mein and wonton soup. The friendly service noted by the first reviewer is a consistent positive aspect.

For local users considering Golden China, it appears that certain dishes, like the honey chicken wings and wonton soup, may be particularly noteworthy. The House Lo Mein is also highly recommended by one reviewer. However, there are potential downsides to consider, such as the reported condition of the premises, the blandness of at least one dish (pork with fried vegetables), and the concerning feedback about the taste of the water and tea. The pricing and portion sizes seem to be reasonable, offering good value for the amount of food received.

The phone numbers for Golden China Restaurant are (413) 665-3365 and +1 413-665-3365. The address is 45B South Main Street, South Deerfield, MA 01373, USA. These details can be used to place orders, inquire about the menu, or ask about the current dining environment.

In conclusion, Golden China Restaurant in South Deerfield, MA, presents a somewhat inconsistent picture based on the available reviews. While it may offer tasty and plentiful portions of certain dishes, such as the honey chicken wings, wonton soup, and House Lo Mein, potential customers should be aware of reported issues with the ambiance, the blandness of some menu items, and concerns about the quality of their beverages. The service is noted as friendly, and the prices appear reasonable for the portion sizes offered. For local users, Golden China might be worth trying, especially if you are interested in the highly praised dishes and are willing to overlook potential shortcomings in the environment and beverage quality. It could be a budget-friendly option with the possibility of discovering some truly enjoyable dishes.

When I walked into this place it smelt kinda off and looked like a old run down place. There was nobody else inside when we were eating so that wasn’t a great sign. The decorations weren’t that terrible and the service was pretty nice and friendly. We ordered honey chicken wings, wonton soup, pork with fried vegetables, chicken with mixed vegetables and shrimp fried rice and we got our food relatively quick. For $50 it was good portions for 3 people. For drinks, I don’t recommend the water or the tea, it tasted like bleach. For the food, I had the pork with fried vegetables and rice. Honestly, it tasted kind of bland and the presentation of the food wasn’t really there. But on the up note the wonton soup and the honey chicken wings were impressive. They had good flavor and were cooked nicely. But overall, this place needs some work on a lot of things and I most likely will not be coming back but it is cheap and certain elements were good so if you are around the area and only have a bit of money then it isn’t the worst choice.

Stopped in for dinner. They were busy with takeout orders but as soon as we sat down everything went smoothly. Quick service and huge portions everyone had enough leftovers for at least another meal.

Me and my family love ordering from here. But we noticed our food we got for take out burned through the styrofoam container. KEEP IN MIND this place serves their takeout in styrofoam containers that is NOT safe for hot food. And not safe in general which is banned from restaurants using this type of container! Making the styrofoam come in contact with the food just sitting on it, melted through leaving craters where the food is sitting. The food is NOT safe this way for take out. If the take out white styrofoam container can be changed for a non toxic container that would be nice because we are also feeding this food to our toddler. There are multiple health risks if food is in contact with styrofoam that is being melted because the food is hot and burning through it. It seemed like we ate half of the toxic materials mixed in with the fried shrimp and fried rice that melted through the styrofoam leaving a lot of craters. Almost going right through the container. Styrofoam..if you kindly do research on it is no longer being used in many restaurants to consider the toxic material made from these styrofoam containers. It causes multiple health risks. I’m hoping this review can be seen asap and there’s a change made. The food is GREAT! We just don’t like it being stored in a styrofoam container for take out that the hot food is burning and melting at the surface. NOT SAFE!!!

I always get takeout here with my family, excellent New England style Chinese food with fast, friendly service. Places like this are getting harder to find!
