About Golden China
Welcome to Golden China, a Chinese Restaurant located at 10834 Warwick Blvd in Newport News, Virginia (VA 23601), serving the local community with a variety of Chinese culinary offerings. Golden China can be contacted at (757) 595-9999 or via their mobile number +1 757-595-9999 for inquiries, orders, and information about their services.
Based on the limited online feedback available from local customers, experiences at Golden China appear to be somewhat polarized. One reviewer expressed a highly positive sentiment, indicating that Golden China is their "hands down favorite Chinese restaurant" since moving to the area in August. This customer specifically praised the friendliness of a staff member, noting that "the lady is always nice" and is often present with her children. This reviewer also mentioned consistently tipping, suggesting satisfaction with the service received. They went as far as to explicitly state that another local Chinese restaurant, Dragon Garden, "sucks" in comparison, highlighting a strong preference for Golden China.
In stark contrast, another customer reported a significantly negative experience with a specific dish. According to this review, an order placed by their friend included an "unrecognizable" egg foo yong that "looked like burnt cheese." Upon contacting the restaurant to address this issue, the reviewer indicated that the staff seemed indifferent to the complaint. Furthermore, when the reviewer mentioned the intention to leave a negative review, a staff member reportedly told them to "go ahead and place the bad review." This interaction suggests a lack of concern for customer satisfaction in this particular instance and raises questions about the restaurant's response to complaints regarding food quality.
Considering these two very different accounts, it is challenging to form a comprehensive picture of the overall experience at Golden China. The positive review suggests that some customers have found the food and service to be satisfactory, with a friendly staff creating a welcoming atmosphere. The mention of a consistent presence of a staff member and her children could imply a family-run establishment with a personal touch.
However, the negative review raises serious concerns about the quality of at least one of their dishes and the dismissive attitude of the staff when a complaint was made. The description of the egg foo yong as "unrecognizable" and looking like "burnt cheese" indicates a significant issue with the preparation of this particular menu item. The staff's apparent indifference to the complaint and the encouragement to leave a negative review is also troubling, as it suggests a lack of commitment to resolving customer issues.
For local users in Newport News looking for a Chinese restaurant, Golden China offers a convenient location on Warwick Blvd. The positive feedback regarding friendly service from at least one staff member might be appealing to those who value a personal touch in their dining experiences. The fact that a recent newcomer to the area considers Golden China their favorite Chinese restaurant suggests that they are doing something right for some of their clientele.
However, the reported issue with the egg foo yong and the unhelpful response from the staff cannot be ignored. Potential customers who are considering ordering dishes that have been problematic in the past might want to exercise caution or inquire specifically about the preparation of those items. The lack of a consistent positive or negative trend in the limited reviews makes it difficult to predict the experience a new customer might have.
Given the limited information available, it is not possible to comment on the environment or features of the restaurant itself, such as whether they offer dine-in, takeout, or delivery services. The reviews primarily focus on food quality and staff interaction. Local users may need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about these aspects and to get a better sense of their offerings beyond the food itself.
As a local Chinese restaurant, Golden China has the opportunity to build a strong reputation within the Newport News community. Addressing issues related to food quality and customer service, as highlighted in the negative review, would be crucial in ensuring consistent customer satisfaction. While the positive feedback suggests that they have the potential to be a favorite among locals, maintaining high standards across all menu items and ensuring a positive response to customer concerns are essential for long-term success.
In conclusion, Golden China in Newport News, VA, has received both positive feedback regarding friendly service and negative feedback concerning food quality and staff responsiveness to complaints. Local users considering Golden China should be aware of these contrasting experiences. It might be advisable to try a variety of dishes and to be prepared to communicate any concerns directly to the restaurant. Further information about their services, such as dine-in or takeout options, would need to be obtained directly from Golden China.

Customer Reviews
No complaints.. the lady is always nice. Always there with the kids. I always tip them.. Just moved to the area in August.. hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant!! Dragon Garden sucks!!..
My friend placed our order and the egg foo yong for our meal was unrecognizable. It looked like burnt cheese. When the restaurant was called regarding the order the staff seemed to careless and it was mentioned a negative review would be made. The lady told us to go ahead and place the bad review.
I honestly feel that the service could’ve been better. Told the lady about the issue and she still didn’t do anything about it. The food could’ve been remade.
My girl got this crap thinking it was the golden hibachi place we had recently. All the food was gross. Soggy general tso, terrible soupy rangoons. Her Mongolian beef was not good either. Definitely one of the worst tsos tho. Only ever had one other this bad and honestly I'm wondering if it was the same place that made it that time too. Hopefully I don't get food poisoning. Also I cut the biggest piece of the tsos chicken in half and there was only a tiny tiny piece of chicken in the middle. Would explain why they were all soggy and squishy textured. 0/10 would NOT recommend.
Poor food presentation and extremely poor customer service. People don't pay money just to receive sloppy service. Do better.
